Educational Insights Ollie-the Talking, Teaching Owl is a great interactive learning tool for kids ages 3 and up. It plays 17 cool phrases and fun sound effects, and its eyes glow green and red for answer reinforcement.

Ollie has three different modes: Speech, Sound Effects, and a mix of Speech and Sound Effects. You can also choose from three volume levels: low, high, or mute.

To use Ollie, simply read a question and then touch the tip of Ollie to the center of the answer dot. If the answer is correct, Ollie will play positive sounds and glow green. If the answer is incorrect, Ollie will play wrong answer sounds and glow red.

Press this 3-position button to select the type of sounds

you want to hear. Press to hear Speech, Sound Effects, or

Press this 3-position button on the front of the pen to

choose volume level: low, high, or mute (no sound).

Ollie’s eyes are a special window that glows GREEN for correct

answers and RED for incorrect answers.

Using Ollie—the Talking, Teaching Owl

1. Read a question.

2. Position Ollie straight up and down and touch an answer dot

by pressing Ollie’s tip on the center of the answer dot.

If correct, Ollie plays positive sounds and glows green.

If incorrect, Ollie plays wrong answer sounds and glows red.

How to Position Ollie

Make sure the tip of Ollie sits ﬂat on the surface of the answer

dot as shown above.

How to Install and Replace the Batteries

Ollie requires 2 AAA batteries, not included. To install the

batteries, use a coin to unscrew the battery door on back

of Ollie. Turn coin in a counterclockwise motion until door

opens. Install 2 fresh AAA batteries as shown in the diagram.

Replace door. Use coin to tighten the door. Turn in a

clockwise motion until door is secure.

• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or

rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

Cleaning Instructions

Clean Ollie with a damp or dry cloth. Do not immerse or spray

liquid or water on Ollie.

Troubleshooting

If Ollie—the Talking, Teaching Owl does not work the ﬁrst

time you use it:

• Make sure you have installed the 2 AAA batteries.

If Ollie does not work after using it successfully:

• Take out the batteries and reinsert them, making sure that

they are sitting properly inside the battery compartment.

• Install fresh batteries.

• Make sure the battery door is tightly secured.

If Ollie still does not work:

• Make sure Ollie’s tip is held straight up and down and is

touching the center of the answer dot.

Cómo poner y cambiar las pilas

El lápiz electrónico interactivo funciona con dos pilas AAA no incluidas.

Para colocar las pilas utilice una moneda para desenroscar la tapa

del compartimento de las pilas que está situado en la parte posterior

del lápiz. Gire la moneda en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj

hasta que se abra la tapa. Coloque dos pilas AAA nuevas tal y como

se indica en el diagrama. Vuelva a colocar la tapa. Utilice la moneda

para ajustarla. Gire en el sentido de las agujas del reloj hasta que la

tapa esté ﬁ ja.

• No mezcle pilas alcalinas, normales (carbono-zinc) o recargables

(níquel-cadmio).

• No mezcle pilas nuevas con pilas viejas.

Limpie el lápiz con un paño húmedo o seco. No lo sumerja o pulverice

líquido o agua sobre el lápiz.

Comment installer et remplacer les piles

Le stylo Hot Dots nécessite 2 piles AAA non incluses. Pour installer les

piles, utiliser une pièce de monnaie pour dévisser le cache à l’arrière du

stylo. Tourner la pièce de monnaie dans le sens contraire des aiguilles

d’une montre jusqu’à ce que le cache s’ouvre. Placer 2 piles AAA

comme indiqué sur le schéma. Replacer le cache. Utiliser la pièce de

monnaie pour resserrer le cache. La tourner dans le sens des aiguilles

d’une montre jusqu’à ce que le cache soit bloqué.

Sorgfältiger Umgang mit dem Hot-Dots-Stift

Anleitung zum Einsetzen und Austauschen von Batterien

Der Hot-Dots-Stift benötigt 2 AAA-Batterien (nicht enthalten). Zum

Einsetzen der Batterien kann eine Münze zum Aufschrauben des

Batteriedeckels auf der Rückseite des Hot-Dots-Stiftes benutzt werden.

Die Münze ist gegen den Uhrzeigersinn zu drehen, bis sich der Deckel

öffnet. Anschließend sind 2 neue AAA-Batterien, wie in der Darstellung

angezeigt, einzusetzen. Danach ist der Deckel zu schließen und kann

durch erneute Verwendung der Münze durch Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn

befestigt werden.

• Alkaline-, Standard- (Zink-Kohle-) oder wiederauﬂ adbare Batterien

sind nicht gleichzeitig zu benutzen.

• Alte und neue Batterien sind nicht gleichzeitig zu benutzen.

Reinigungsanleitung

Der Hot-Dots-Stift ist mit einem feuchten oder trockenen Lappen zu

reinigen.

Der Hot-Dots-Stift darf nicht mit Flüssigkeiten oder Wasser besprüht

oder darin eingetaucht werden.
