Speller
The Speller is controlled with the -, -
keys. The -key (green) or the -key is
used for confirming the selection, and the
-key (red) in order to end the Speller.
The Speller enables the compiling of individual alphabetic characters or numbers,
as well as telephone numbers or names. It is available for various functions of
the Audio 2010, for example for the dialing of a telephone number or the gene-
ration of a telephone directory entry. The operation of the Speller is explained
below:
Entering numbers
Navigate to a digit by activating the -, -keys and accept this through
pressing the -key (green). You can delete the last digit of the number in
each case through pressing the - symbol. If the number is entered com-
pletely, this can be selected through pressing the - symbol. In order to
exit the Speller, press the -key (red).
Entering name or text
Analogous to the number input, you can also enter names or whole texts
with the Speller. Navigate to a character by activating the -, -keys and
accept through pressing the - key (green). You can delete the last
character in each case through pressing the - symbol. If the name is
entered completely, this can be saved through pressing the - symbol. In
order to exit the Speller, press the -key (red). A switchover between
upper case letters, lower case letters, digits and additional characters is
possible using the symbols described under Chapter „Speller symbol“,
which can be selected with the -, - keys.
Operational startup
Take time to become familiar with the operation of the Audio 2010 in connection
with the mobile telephone. First of all, make some telephone calls where you can
determine the optimal conditions for volume and speech direction before you
use the Audio 2010 in traffic. For operational startup, the vehicle should be par-
ked in a quiet place. A prior arrangement with another call subscriber who can
take some time is advantageous in supporting you in making test connections.

Bluetooth® technology
Bluetooth
®
technology is a radio technology and thus it makes possible commu-
nication without cables. Data and voice can be transmitted simultaneously. No
line of sight connection between the participating devices has to exist for this
purpose. The radio range is 10 m. Faults through other electrical devices or
obstacles in the free field can lead to a lower range. The frequency band in which
Bluetooth
®
works is released almost worldwide. That, and the fact that every
Bluetooth
®
product is tested and qualified for trouble-free cooperation with other
Bluetooth
®
devices, ensures maximum compatibility of devices from different
manufacturers. The Audio 2010 supports the Bluetooth
®
hands-free profile. This
means that you can operate mobile telephones which support the Bluetooth
®
hands-free profile. As appropriate, look up in the operating instructions of your
mobile telephone which profile it supports. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution
Profile) is a technology which allows the transmission of stereo audio signals wit-
hout wires via Bluetooth
®
to a corresponding receiver. Please refer to our Inter-
net homepage to find out about compatible mobile telephones.
Switching on / Switching off
With the first operational startup of your Audio 2010, you must start the Audio
2010 through switching on the ignition. You will see the start logo and the main
screen is displayed. If no connection to the mobile telephone exists, or if no user
is found, the main menu has limited functionality. In order to establish a connec-
tion to the Audio 2010, you must select the menu item „User administration
with the - key (green). A „New user“ is selected there. The Audio 2010 then
searches for mobile telephones in your reception area. If your mobile telephone
should not be found, you can start the search again. As appropriate, please refer
to the section „Problem elimination“. If the name of your mobile telephone is
displayed, select it with the -key (green). After the connection with the
Audio 2010, the full functionality of the main menu is provided. Functionalities
which the mobile telephone does not support are not optional. If the ignition is
switched off, the Audio 2010 switches itself off. If the ignition is switched off
during a telephone call, this telephone call is maintained and continues. The
Audio 2010 is then switched off only on ending the telephone call with hanging
up.
Entering PIN Bluetooth®
After some seconds, you are requested to enter the Bluetooth
®
PIN. Enter in the
mobile telephone the PIN which is indicated on the display of the Audio 2010.
-11-
Operational startup
Audio 2010
Handsfree mode (handsfree profile)
Under certain circumstances, the coupling with your mobile telephone does not
function in handsfree mode with the above-designated method. If you are sure
that your mobile telephone supports the Bluetooth
®
hands-free profile, please
proceed as follows: Select the point „Coupling of the telephone“ in the list of the
found devices. You must now search from the mobile telephone for Bluetooth
®
devices. Please refer to the corresponding operating instructions as to how you
proceed here. The mobile telephone then starts the device identification. In the
list of the devices found by your mobile telephone, select „Audio 2010“. You are
requested to enter a PIN or a password during the coupling procedure of your
mobile telephone. Please enter the series of digits indicated in the display of the
Audio 2010. After a short time, the mobile telephone should report that the
devices are coupled. You can also interrupt the coupling at any time through
pressing the - key (red). If the coupling should not succeed, please refer to
the section „Problem elimination“.
Automatic connecting
If a mobile telephone should already be coupled with the Audio 2010, then the
Audio 2010 attempts to connect with this mobile telephone. The last connected
mobile telephone is always searched for. If the search was successful, a connec-
tion is established automatically. On the other hand, if the search is without suc-
cess, it can be that the Bluetooth
®
on your mobile telephone or the mobile tele-
phone itself is not switched on, or that you were not the last user. If you wish to
dial, activate this user in the user administration and log them on.
Calling
If a Bluetooth
®
link exists between the Audio 2010 and the mobile telephone,
you can use the hands-free function of your Audio 2010. If no connection exists,
then the hands-free function cannot be used. Please first establish a Bluetooth
®
link. You can dial a number by voice dialing, by menu or directly on the mobile
telephone.
Incoming call
The call is signaled to you with the ring tone of your mobile telephone, provided
that the ring tone is supported over the Bluetooth
®
link. Otherwise a ring tone is
generated in the Audio 2010. If the caller has not blocked the communication of
his call number and the mobile telephone supports this function, the number, or
if a corresponding entry is found in the telephone directory, the name of the cal-
ler, is shown in the display.
-12-
Audio 2010
Operational startup
You can decide whether you accept the call ( -key green) or reject the call
( -key red). If you accept the call, you can regulate the volume with the -,
-keys. The setting-adjustment remains stored. You can end the call by pres-
sing the -key (red).
Making a call
Making a call from the Audio 2010 is possible only if a Bluetooth
®
link exists bet-
ween the Audio 2010 and the mobile telephone. You have the possibility to
structure a call over the voice dial or over the menu.
In order to activate the voice dial, press the -key. With the command „Select
number“ you have the possibility to speak the telephone number to be selected
and, with the command „Dial <Name>“, a name can be dialed directly from the
telephone directory. You can find further information on that in Chapter „Voice
control“.
In order to start a call, there are available the following possibilities:
Dialing from the telephone directory of the mobile telephone,
Direct dialing of a number with the Speller,
Dialing from the call lists of your mobile telephone,
Using the callback possibility from received SMS messages.
Finally, you still have the possibility to dial a number directly on your mobile tele-
phone.
Start of the voice dial of the telephone
As a result of short pressing of the - key, the telephone-internal voice dial can
be started. With the key -(red) this can be ended again.
Ended call
On completion of the telephone call, the main menu is entered again. If an inco-
ming call is rejected with the -key (red), a skip into the previous menu item
is made.
Volume control
The reproduction volume can be regulated during a call and during an active
speech recognition with the -, -keys.
Options during the telephone call
During the telephone call, the following options can be carried out when the
-key (green) is activated:
