You will need the manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly instruc-
tions, operating and maintenance procedures, parts list and diagram. Keep your invoice with
this manual. Write the invoice number on the inside of the front cover. Keep the manual and
invoice in a safe and dry place for future reference.
General Safety Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: When using this product, basic safety precautions should always be fol-
lowed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment.
Read all instructions before using this product!
1. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let
them handle, move, or adjust this product.
2. Store idle equipment. When not in use, product must be stored in a dry location to
inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.
3. Check for damaged parts. Before using any product, any part that appears
damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and
perform its intended function. Check for any broken parts or mounting fixtures; and
any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any part that is damaged should
be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. Do not use the product if
any switch does not turn On and Off properly.
4. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories
intended for use with this product. Approved accessories are available from Harbor
Freight Tools.
5. Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning
labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reflexes are
impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the product.
6. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.

Patio Heater Specific Safety Warnings
1. If the information provided in this manual is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion
may result, causing property damage, PERSONAL INJURY, or DEATH.
2. Improper assembly, installation, adjustment, alteration, service, use, or maintenance
can cause property damage, PERSONAL INJURY, or DEATH. Installation and repair
should be done by a qualified service person. The heater should be inspected
before use and at least annually by a qualified service person.
More frequent cleaning may be required as necessary. It is imperative that the
control compartment, burners, and circulating air passageways of the heater should
be kept clean.
Carbon Monoxide Inhalation Hazard
3. The Patio Heater is an unvented gas-fired heater. It must never be used indoors,
in a house, or any other sealed structure. Carbon monoxide is produced
during operation and is DEADLY in a closed environment. Early signs of
carbon Monoxide poisoning resemble the flu, with headaches, dizziness, or
nausea. If you have these signs, the heater may not be working properly or is
improperly vented, get fresh air
immediately.
Risk of Fire and/or Explosion
4. Do not store extra propane tanks in the vicinity of the Patio Heater or any
other appliance.
5. If gas is smelled during operation, immediately turn the Control Knob (18)
to OFF, and close the valve on the propane tank. Propane gas is odorless. An
odor-making agent is added to propane/LP gas to enable you to smell the gas if
it may be leaking.
6. If the Patio Heater shuts off during operation, turn the Control Knob to OFF,
check the amount of fuel in the tank and wait 5 minutes for the gas to clear
before restarting. If it continues to shut off during operation, have it serviced by
a qualified technician.
7. Never place the Patio Heater within 15 feet of flammable objects such as
wood, trees, overhangs, and umbrellas. This Heater also requires a clearance
of at least 3 feet from non-flammable materials to allow proper combustion.
Risk of Burns-Heater Gets Very Hot During Use.
8. Do not attempt to move the Patio Heater while it is in operation. Turn it off
and wait one-half hour until it cools down before moving.
9. Do not touch the Emitter Housing while the heater is lit. Before servicing,
wait one-half hour for the Patio Heater to cool down.
10. Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface
temperatures and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
11. Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of
the heater.
12. Clothing or other flammable materials should not be hung from the heater,
or placed on or near the heater.

Assembly
1. Line the bolt holes on the Wheel Assembly (42) up with the bolt holes near the edge of
the Base (9), Place a Mounting Washer (45) over each Mounting Bolt (43) and insert
both through the top of the Base and the Assembly. Tighten underneath with the Mounting
Nuts (44). Make sure that the horseshoe clips on the Wheel Assembly are on properly
and that the Assembly is bolted securely before continuing.
2. Attach the Back Cover (36) to the Base (9) using Bolts (33), Lock Washers (34), Flat
Washers (25), and Nuts (35) through Legs (39). Securely tighten all hardware. See photo
below (left).
3. Attach the Post Support (31) to the Back Cover (36) using Bolts (33), Lock Washers
(34), Flat Washers (25), and Nuts (35) under Post Support. Securely tighten all hardware.
See photo below (right).
4. Lay the heater Emitter Assembly on its side and feed the Gas Line (27) through the
top of the Post (28) until it extends through the other end of the Post. The Gas Line
must be placed in this location to prevent damage. Only use the Gas Line provided.

Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure all the parts are included. Refer to the Parts List
and Assembly Drawing at the end of this manual. If any parts are missing or broken, please
call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.

cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be under-
stood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

5. Insert the heater Emitter Assembly bottom mount (A)
into the top of the Post (28) and secure with three Bolts
(24) and Washers (25). Securely tighten.
6. Place the Cylinder Cap (30) onto the bottom end of the
Post (28), as shown to the right.
7. Place the Emitter Assembly with attached Post (27) over the Post Support (31) and
secure with three Bolts (24) and Washers (25). Securely tighten.
8. Connect the Gas Line (27) to the Regulator Hose (not included) and secure using
proper gas connection techniques.
9. Attach the Regulator (not supplied) to the Regulator Hose.
10. Hook the ends of Chain (40) to the holes on each side of the gas tank enclosure.
11. Place the Dome (1) over the three protruding screws on top of the Emitter Assembly.
Secure with Round Head Nuts (5) and Washers (4). Securely Tighten.
Warning: Place the Patio Heater
outdoors, and at least 15 feet
from any flammable materials
before testing.
12. Place a full 20 pound propane/LP gas tank
(not supplied) in the Base enclosure and
secure in place with the Chain (40). The
gas tank used must be constructed and marked in accordance with the specifications
for LP-gas cylinders of the US Department of Transportation (DOT)
13. Turn the Control Knob (18) to the OFF position.
14. Wrap the external threads of the connection between the Regulator (not supplied) and
the propane/LP gas tank with pipe thread seal tape (not included). Connect them
securely.
15. Turn the propane/LP gas tank valve handle counterclockwise to open and check and
smell for gas leaks. Perform a bubble test by applying warm soapy water over every
joint, regulator, and fitting and anywhere else you feel there may also be a leak.
Observe carefully to see if bubbles expand, indicating a leak. A large leak can blow
the soapy solution away instead of forming bubbles. If leaks are found, do not use the
heater until the leaks have been stopped.

Operation
Warning: Place the Patio Heater
outdoors, and at least 15 feet from
any flammable materials before
using. The outdoor location must
be readily accessible and have at
least 3 feet of clearance from any
non-flammable obstructions to
allow proper combustion.
1. Before each use, lift and set aside the Door (41) and carefully inspect the visible
portion of the hose. Also, the entire hose should be inspected annually, if not more
frequently.
Inspect the hose for:
• Cracks • Excessive Abrasion or Wear • Any Other Damage.
If any of the above flaws are detected, replace the hose prior to use with a new Regulator
Hose (part 32).
2. Verify that the Control Knob (18) is pointed to the OFF position. See photo on the next
page.
3. Place your hand through front Door (41) hole and turn the gas tank handle valve
counterclockwise until fully open.
4. Turn the Control Knob (18) to the PILOT position.
5. This heater is equipped with a piezoelectric ignitor. This system normally requires no
matches, batteries, or other sources to light the heater. Press in the red piezoelectric
Igniter button several times to light the pilot light. The button will click each time it is
properly activated.
6. Open the pilot view hole (B) under the Emitter Housing and check that the pilot is lit. See
photo below, right. Also, see the
Proper LP Flame
illustration on the next page.
Warning: Certain materials or items,
when stored under the heater, will
be subjected to radiant heat and can
be seriously damaged or present a
fire hazard.
16. Turn the gas tank valve clockwise to the OFF position until ready for use.
17. Hook the enclosure Door (41) onto the Back Cover (36).
18. The Heater must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes or, in
absence of local codes, with the National Electrical Code, ANSI / NFPA 70.

7. With the pilot lit, turn the control Knob to the LOW position. The heater should fire up.
If it does not fire up, turn the control Knob to the OFF position and wait 5 minutes before
trying again.
If the piezoelectric igniter does not operate, use a long match through the pilot view hole
(B) to light the pilot light. If the piezoelectric starter fails to light the heater and the
heater is not immediately lit or shut off, unburned propane may accumulate
potentially causing explosion, fire or serious injury.
Important: Allow the heater to run for at least 5 minutes on low before turning the dial higher.
8. When finished with the Patio Heater, turn the control Knob to the OFF position, then turn
the gas tank handle valve clockwise all the way to close the valve.
9. The LP cylinder must be stored outside. If the Heater is to be stored inside a building,
the Cylinder should be turned off, removed, and left outside. Cylinders must be stored
outdoors in a well-ventilated area out of the reach of children. Disconnected cylinders
must have threaded valve plugs (not included) tightly installed, and must not be stored in
a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.
Warning: Do not attempt to move the Patio Heater while it is on or while it is
hot. Do not touch any area of the heater Emitter Assembly; serious burns
will occur. Turn the Heater off and wait one-half hour until it cools down
before moving.
To Use The Wheels:
a. Tilt the Patio Heater so the wheels swing out and the arm on the Wheel Assembly (42)
rests against the lip of the Base (9).
b. Gently lean the heater back on the wheels and move it to the desired location.
c. When done, tilt the heater and swing the wheels back underneath. Make sure the
Base (9) is stable and flat against the ground.
Maintenance
Any guard or other protective device removed for
servicing the heater must be replaced prior to operating
the heater.
1. Store the Patio Heater is a clean and dry location. If
storing the unit indoors, first Shut off and remove the
gas tank and leave it outdoors. Keep the area near the
heater clear and free from combustible materials,
gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
2. When the unit is cool, wipe down all parts with a clean
cloth and mild soapy water.
3. Visually check the burner’s flame. See the illustration to
the right. If the flames look improper, have the heater
serviced by a technician before use.
