Appliance Certication
The Heat & Glo replace models discussed in this Installers
Guide have been tested to certication standards and listed
by the applicable laboratories.
1Approvals and Regulations
2Getting Started
Introducing the Heat & Glo Gas Fireplaces
Heat & Glo direct ue gas replaces are designed to oper-
ate with all combustion air siphoned from outside of the
building and all exhaust gases expelled to the outside.
The information contained in this Installers Guide, unless
noted otherwise, applies to all models and gas control
systems. Gas replace diagrams, including the dimensions,
are shown in this section.
Pre-install Preparation
This gas replace and its components are tested and safe
when installed in accordance with this Installers Guide.
Report to your dealer any parts damaged in shipment,
particularly the condition of the glass. Do not install any
unit with damaged, incomplete, or substitute parts.
The ue system components are shipped in separate pack-
ages. The gas logs are packaged separately and must be
eld installed.
Read all of the instructions before starting the instal-
lation. Follow these instructions carefully during the
installation to ensure maximum safety and benet. Fail-
ure to follow these instructions will void the owners
warranty and may present a re hazard.
The Heat & Glo Warranty will be voided by, and Heat & Glo
disclaims any responsibility for, the following actions:
Installation of any damaged replace or ue system
component.
• Modication of the replace or direct ue system.
• Installation other than as instructed by Heat & Glo.
• Improper positioning of the gas logs or the glass door.
• Installation and/or use of any component part not manu-
factured and approved by Heat & Glo, not withstanding
any independent testing laboratory or other party ap-
proval of such component part or accessory.
ANY SUCH ACTION MAY POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE
HAZARD.
When planning a replace installation, it’s necessary
to determine:
• Where the unit is to be installed.
• The ue system conguration to be used.
• Gas supply piping.
• Electrical wiring.
• Framing and nishing details.
• Whether optional accessories—devices such as a fan,
wall switch, or remote control—are desired.
If the replace is to be installed on carpeting, tile or
any combustible material other than wood ooring,
it should be installed on a metal or wood panel that
extends the full width and depth of the replace.
Installation Regulations
Before installation check that local distribution conditions,
nature of gas and pressure, and adjustment of the
appliance are compatible.
This appliance must be installed with the rules in force,
and used only in a sufciently ventilated space. Consult
instructions before installation and use of this appliance.

3Installing the Fireplace
Step 1. Locating the Fireplace
The diagram below shows space and clearance require-
ments for locating a replace within a room.
Minimum Clearances
from the Fireplace to Combustible Materials
Figure 4. Fireplace Dimensions and Locations
For minimum clearances, see the direct ue termination
clearance diagrams on pages 30 and 31 in this manual.
Step 2. Framing the Fireplace
Fireplace framing can be built before or after the replace is
set in place. Framing should be positioned to accommodate
wall coverings and replace facing material. The diagram
below shows framing reference dimensions.

Minimum Clearances
from the Flue Pipe to Combustible Materials
* The clearance to the ceiling is measured from the top of
the unit, excluding the standoffs (see Figures 37 & 38).
The distance from the unit to combustible construction is
to be measured from the unit outer wrap surface to the
combustible construction, NOT from the screw heads that
secure the unit together.

Figure 7. Flue System Components and Termination Kits
Step 3. Installing the Flue System
A. Flue System Approvals
These models are approved to use DVP series direct ue
pipe components and terminations (see Figures 6 and 7).
Approved ue system components are labeled for identi-
cation. This pipe is tested and listed as an approved com-
ponent of the replace. The pipe is tested to be run inside
an enclosed wall. There is no requirement for inspection
openings at each joint within the wall. There is no required
pitch for horizontal ue runs. NO OTHER FLUEING SYS-
TEMS OR COMPONENTS MAY BE USED.
Detailed installation instructions are included with each
ue termination kit and should be used in conjunction with
this Installers Guide.
The ame and ember appearance may vary based on the
type of fuel burned and the ueing conguration used.
Identifying Flue Components
The ue systems installed on this gas replace may include
one, two, or three 90° elbow assemblies. The relationships
of vertical rise to horizontal run in ue congurations using
90° elbows MUST BE strictly adhered to. The rise to run
relationships are shown in the ueing drawings and tables.
Refer to the diagrams on the next several pages.
NOTE: Two 45° elbows may be used in place of one
90° elbow. Rise to run ratios in the ue system must
be followed if 45° elbows are used.
This model has a 450 elbow built into it. It may be posi-
tioned to ue either horizontal or vertical. Depending on
the installation, decide which direction the elbow should be
facing. Remove the 8 screws from the corner cover plate.
Position the 450 elbow as desired and replace the corner
cover plate with the 8 screws.
