1.1 Problem
Domain of application
This InfoT concerns all the SIM6 UltraReality projectors :
•SIM6UltraHB
• SIM6 Ultra II
Ghosting
A “ghost” is an image on the scre
enappearingsuperimposedonthedesiredmain
image.
In a more specific sense, a ghost is a replica of the desired image appearing fainter
and offset in position with respect to the primary image.
Ghosting
In some cases “Ghosting” has been reported after a number of hours of operation.
This phenomenon is related t
otheLCDpanelandcanbecompensatedontheLCDdriver.
1.2 Solution 1 : Position c ontro l setting in the hidden menu
Position control setting
Adjusting the position control parameter in the hidden menu will solve the problem in most
of the cases.

How to adjust the position control ?
1.Push the cursor key ↑ or ↓ to highlight Service. (menu 1-1)
2.Enter the password and pre ss ENTER to enter the hidden menu.
3.Select Panel and then Position control
4.Adjust the position control to minimize the ghosting
Note:The typical value being 5 or 6

1.3 Solution 2 : driver replacement
Driver replacement is only recommended when the position control does
not solve the problem !
LCD driver replacement
In some cases adjusting the position control will not remove the ghosting. The m
ost reliable
solution is to replace the LCD driver board. The new LCD driver board allows a compensa-
tion for the ghosting (independently for the 3 colors).

How to remove the LCD Driver Board?
1.Are the flat cable connectors located on the bottom side of the LCD Driver Board?
If yes, Disconnect the flat cables on the bottom side of the LCD Driver Board by inserting
a tip foam swab on the top side of the flat cable. (image 1-2)
If no, The flat cable connectors are located on the top side of the LCD Driver Board,
to unlock the flat cable connectors, start by gently pushing the left side of the black
connector part (A), towards the X-Cube, with a small screw driver, continue by doing the
same for the right side (B). ( image 1-3)
2.Loosen the 9 screws connecting the LCD Driver Boa rd to the Pro jector Frame. (image 1-4)
3.Replace the LCD Driver Board and reverse this procedure.
4.Mount the new board by handling the same way

1.4 Software upgrade
Software upgrade
A software u pgrade is recommended to allow full compatibility (compensation on both new
and old panels) with the new driver i.e. :
• for the S IM6 Ultra HB : V1.30 or higher
• for the SIM6 Ultra II : V2.00 or higher : this software version includes a new Ghosting
compensation item under the service menu.
The installation of the new LCD driver will already compensate for the ghosting. The Ghost-
ing pa rameter (in SIM6 Ultra II V2.00) allows however additional tweaking.
CAUTION: For the U ltra II : upgrad ing from V1.xx to V2.00 will completely
erase th e existing Warp (distortion) settings (geometry files).
Upgrading will thus require readjusting the geometry !

Since both drivers (old/new) are compatible with old/new so ftwa re the
software upgrad e may be performed bef ore or after driver replacemen t.
How to adjust the Ghosting (only if necessary) ?
1.Go to the Service menu (menu 1-2)
2.Select Panel adjustments
3.Press ENTER
The panel adjustments menu is displayed (menu 1-3)
4.Select Ghosting and press ENTER
A slider box is displayed
5.Adjust with the arrows to minimize the ghosting , change color using the COLOR on the
remote
