Electrical connections
Terminal 18 always carries 230 V AC. If a
no-voltage connection is required, an
external relay must be used.
Terminal 20 is supplied through a jumper
15 - 19.
If a no-voltage connection is required, the
jumper must be removed and terminals
19 - 20 be used for control of pump

Electrical connections
Electrical connections to the controller
must be made using the screw terminals.
Leads up to 3 × 1.5 mm² or
corresponding can be connected to each
terminal. Terminals are coded so that
connectors carrying mains voltage
cannot be connected to the low-voltage
section.

a) Program time switch
The program time switch is set in the
required normal and reduced
temperature periods by pushing riders for
reduced temperature setting towards the
center of the time switch.
Set the actual time (24-hours time switch)
or day (week time switch) opposite the
arrow.
b) Temperature setting
With or without room temperature sensor,
this knob enables the parallel
displacement of the heat curve slope to
give more heating or less. One
graduation corresponds to about
2 degrees room temperature.
With room sensor ESMR/F

Max. limitation of room temperature to
22 °C (ESMR) or 22 °C ±10 (ESMF).

Compensation of room temperature. The
required room temperature can be set
with knob b). Position 0 corresponds to
20 °C.

Examples of heat curve settings
f) Setting the heat curve slope
The heat curve slope can be set within
0.2 and 3.4. Ex factory the heat curve is
set at 1.8.
If the room temperature is not
comfortable when the outdoor tempera-
ture is below +5 °C, the slope is
increased. At outdoor temperatures
above +5 °C the heat curve is displaced
in parallel, as described in b), page 5.

g) Min. flow temperature
Min. flow temperature in the heating
circuit can be limited between 10 and
70°C. The factory setting is 10°C.
h) Max. flow temperature
Max. flow temperature in the heating
circuit can be limited between 30 and
110°C. The factory setting is 90°C.
i) Reduced temperature setting
(from and including generation 20 with
new scale)
Reduced temperature is set in three
different ways:
1. Heating system is totally cut-out "
",
i.e. valve closed and pump stops. The
system is frost-protected.
2. Fixed temperature reduction (1-14K).
3. AUTO-setting, i.e. outdoor
temperature dependent temperature
reduction.
For fixed and AUTO-settings applies that
the level of the reduced temperature
depends on whether or not a room
sensor ESMR/ESMF is connected.
ESMR/ESMF not connected
The flow temperature is lowered (parallel
displaced) to obtain the required
temperature in the room.

j) Hot water service temperature
The temperature of the hot water service
can be set using potentiometer j) between
30 and 70 °C. The factory setting is 50 °C.
Programming of hot water service circuit
The hot water service circuit can be
programmed using channel 2 on a digital
time switch or on control panel ECA
9020. During a period of reduced
temperature the temperature of hot water
service is reduced to 10 °C.

Room sensor function.
Special settings
ECL 9350 incorporates eight miniswitches.
The miniswitches make it possible to
adapt the controller to the heating
installation.

Function test
The LED indicates whether ECL 9350 is
in operation and indicates the valve
control level. In the auto-test function for
sensors and controller, it also reports
faults.
Control status
During normal operation, the function
selector is on
, , or and the
LED lights up.
Reversible motor
LED lights up constantly:
The flow temperature is correct and the
motor receives no pulses. The valve is
not active.
LED lights up constantly and is then
interrupted twice:
The flow temperature is below the
calculated temperature. The motor
opens the valve.
LED lights up constantly and is then
interrupted three times:
The flow temperature is above the
calculated temperature. The motor
closes the valve.
Auto-test of controller and sensors
Set function selector on position

After about 5 seconds the LED begins to
flash. This indication is repeated approx.
every 3 seconds.
LED off:
Controller defective or flow temperature
sensor not connected.
LED lights up with 1, 2, 3 or 4
interruptions:
The number of flashes corresponds to
the number of installed sensors. If it
does not, one or more of the sensors is
short-circuited or not connected.
LED constantly on:
The controller is defective.
Manual valve control
Set function selector on

To open the valve, turn the temperature
setting knob b) fully clockwise. To close
the valve the knob must be turned
counterclockwise.
If the direction of motor rotation is
incorrect, swap over the connections on
controller terminals 16 and 17.
Remote override function (from and
including generation 20)
The sensor inputs can be used as
override ("
" or " " ) if external override
module ECA 9010 is connected (to avoid
contact resistance). ECA 9010 can be
connected to the following terminals (see
instruction for further information):
Terminal 3 - room sensor
Terminal 6 - return sensor
Terminal 7 - boiler sensor

On the wall
Fix the baseplate on a flat surface using
two 4 mm screws (standard) or three
4 mm screws (large), depending on the
type of baseplate. Make sure the arrow
“UP” points upwards.
Wire up ECL 9350 as shown on the
accompanying diagram.
Fix the controller to its baseplate (when
using the large baseplate, the controller
must first be fitted into its enclosure).
Tighten the centre screw behind the
cover plate.
In the front plate
The controller can be built into a boiler
panel. The opening must measure 92 ×
138 mm in material max. 3 mm thick.
Place the four retaining springs on the
controller before inserting it into the
opening. The springs are supplied as
accessories with two terminal strips.
Wire the two terminal strips and mount
them on the controller. The terminal
strips are encoded to prevent exchange
by mistake.
On DIN rail
ECL 9350 can be mounted on a 35 mm
DIN rail. A spring is supplied as an
accessory to fix baseplate to rail.

Dismantling
If the controller is built in, remove it by
simultaneously pressing all springs to
easily release the controller.
If the springs are not easily accessible,
use a screwdriver to prise out the
controller.

Time switch
To mount time switch, remove the
transparent cover, frontplate and time
switch cover.
The transparent cover is automatically
released when it is opened completely
towards the left.
External program time switch
An ECA 9020 control panel can be used
as external program time switch. The
ECA 9020 can easily be connected to
the ECL controller bus, see electrical
connection.

Removal of time switch
Remove the two screws and remove the
time switch by gently tilting it out.
Guide the time switch into the centre of
its opening with plugs downwards.
Ensure that it seats securely and fasten it
with the two screws.
