Proper Use
The WT 32 photoelectric proximity switch is an optoelectronic
sensor and is used for detection of optical, non-contact
detection of objects, animals, and people.
Starting Operation

Open the cover of the sensor; make sure that no dirt
enters the device.

PG cable, remove sealing plugs. Feed tension-free supply
cable through and connect sensor as per connection
diagram B.
Connect cables.

Mount sensor to suitable holders (e.g. SICK mounting
bracket). Maintain direction in which object moves relative
to sensor. Connect photoelectric proximity switch to
operating voltage (see type label).
Check application conditions such as scanning distance, size
and reflectance of object to be detected.

Adjustment of light reception: Set scanning distance to max.
Position object. Position light spot on object. Signal strength
indicator should light up. If it does not light up, readjust and/
or clean photoelectric proximity switch and/or check
application conditions.
Setting the Scanning Range:
Remove the object, and then the LED signal strength
indicator must switch off. If it does not switch off, turn the
control knob in the min. direction until the indicator
switches off.

Preselect time delays (1=switch-on delay, 2=switch-off
delay); switch setting t=ON, 0=OFF.
After time delay preselection, make fine adjustment on
switch (Y); setting range WT 32-B: from 0.02 to 1 sec WT
32-R: from 0.5 to 12 sec.
Check sealing faces, seals, and screwed joints, then replace
and screw down cover.
Options
The devices WT 32-B 230/430 have a

which proper functioning of the device can be checked. When
the light path is clear between the photoelectric switch and the
object (the LED signal strength indicator lights), activate the test
input (see the B connection diagram); this switches off the
transmitter. At the same time, the LED signal strength control
must switch off, and the switching state at the output must
change.

m), that indicates when the optimum light reception is no
longer guaranteed (e.g., due to soiling or adjustment problems).
The LED signal strength indicator then blinks.
Maintenance
SICK photoelectric switches do not require any maintenance.
We recommend that you
- clean the optical interfaces and
- check the screw connections and plug-in connections at
regular intervals.

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Der Reflexions-Lichttaster WT 32 ist ein opto-elektronischer
Sensor und wird zum optischen, berührungslosen Erfassen von
Sachen, Tieren und Personen eingesetzt.

in das Gerät gelangt.

Bewegungsrichtung des Objektes relativ zum Taster einhalten.
Lichttaster an Betriebsspannung legen (s. Typenaufdruck).
Einsatzbedingungen wie Tastweite, Objektgröße und
Remissionsvermögen des Tastgutes überprüfen.

Justage Lichtempang:
Tastweite auf Max. stellen.
Objekt positionieren. Lichtfleck auf Objekt ausrichten.
Empfangsanzeige muß leuchten. Leuchtet sie nicht, Lichttaster
neu justieren, reinigen bzw. Einsatzbedingungen überprüfen.
Einstellung Tastweite:
Objekt entfernen, die Empfangsanzeige muß erlöschen.
Erlöscht sie nicht, Drehknopf in Richtung Min. drehen, bis sie
erlischt.

Zeitstufen (1=Einschaltverzögerung, 2=Ausschalt-
verzögerung) vorwählen; Schalterstellung t=EIN, 0=AUS.
Nach Zeitstufenvorwahl die Feineinstellung am jeweiligen
Drehknopf vornehmen; Einstellmöglichkeit WT 32-B: von
0.02 bis 1 sec, WT 32-R: von 0.5 bis 12 sec.
Dichtflächen, Dichtungen und Verschraubungen kontrollieren,
dann Deckel aufsetzen und festschrauben.

überprüft werden kann. Bei freiem Lichtweg zwischen Lichttaster
und Objekt (Empfangsanzeige leuchtet) den Testeingang aktivieren
(s. Anschlußschema B); dadurch wird der Sender abgeschaltet.
Gleichzeitig muß die Empfangsanzeige erlöschen, und der
Schaltzustand am Ausgang muß sich ändern.

Wartung
SICK-Lichttaster sind wartungsfrei. Wir empfehlen, in regelmäßigen
Abständen
- die optischen Grenzflächen zu reinigen,
- Verschraubungen und Steckverbindungen zu überprüfen.
