cover
can be opened

turning it
counterclockwise

a
coin.

the
indication

the
polarities
in the
battery

LED in
the
viewfinder
does
not
light.)

tightly.
Keep
the battery
surfaces

ree
of dirt
and
perspira-
tion, when
loading.
Dirt will
cause
poor
electrical
contact.
lf necessary,
wipe
the
batteries with a
clean,
dry cloth.
Unload the batteries when the
camera
is not
used

or a
long
period.
The
batteries should
last f
or approximately
one
year
under normal
use.
When the
camera
has been
used
over
one
year,
we
suggest
that
you
replace
the
old
batteries
with
new
ones.

1. Pull
up the
rewind
knob,
and
the
back
cover
will
open.
Put
the
f
ilm into
the
f
ilm
chamber as
indicated
in
the
photograph,
and
press
down
the rewind
shaft to the
original
position
while
rotating
the
rewind knob.
lnsert
the
f
ilm leader into
the
groove
of
the
spool, and
engaged
the
perf
orations of the
film
in
the teeth
of the
spool.
Turn
the
f
ilm
advance lever
and
wind
the
f
ilm
around
the take-up
spool
making
sure that
the
perforations
of
the
film
are
engaged in
the
teeth
of the sprocket.

it
strongly,

it
will
be automatically
locked.

properly
loaded

Film Speed
After
loading the

ilm
set
the ASA

ilm
speed ac-
cording
to the
ASA
speed
of
the
f
ilm
in
use.
(The
ASA
rating recommended by the manuf actu
rer
is
printed
on
the
film
box, e.g. ASA.. .) When
using
f
ilm
of ASAl
00,
f
or
example, set
the
posi-
tion
1OO
of
the
film
speed setting dial
to
the
film
speed
scale.
The dial
number
of
the
f ilm ASA
is
as
indicated,
and there are clicks
corresponding
to the respective
numbers.

dial in
either
direction
until
the
desired
number
clicks
into
place
on
the
wh
ite
line
of
the
body.

shutter
speed
cannot
be
obtained
by
the
in-between
setting
of
the
shutter
speed
dial.
Set
the
shutter
speed
so
that
the
desired

meter

Setting

Exposure
YOur
MIRANDA
MS1 SUPER
hAS A
bUiIt-iN
LED
system,
which measures
the
light coming
through
the lens
and
enables
you
to
set
the
proper
exposure
for
a
given
lighting condrtion
Two sensitrve
cadmium
sulphide
(COS)
cells,
installed
beside
the eyepiece,
read
the I ight
in
the
overall
picture
area
and
particularly
the
centre.
This
is very
important
in
obtaining
accurate
ex-
posure
readings
in
scenes
where
there
is
an
over-
abu ndance
of sky
in
the
backgrou
nd
or
where
backlighting
or sidelighting
is
present.
To
take an
exposure
reading:
1. Wind
the Film
Advance
lever.
2. Switch
the
meter on by
gently
pressing
the
shutter
release button
half
-way
down.
3.
When
one of
the
LEDs
located
at
left
side of
the view-f
inder
lights, the
meter circuit
is
powered
by batteries.
4.
When
the
red
warning
light
(+)
tights
it indi-
cates
over-exposure.
In
this case
the
diaphragm
ring
of
the camera
lens should
be
turned clock-
wise or
the
shutter
speed
dial should
be turned
to a
higher speed
until
the
green
LED lights.

the
red

the

counter-clockwise

the shutter

Rest
the
camera
on
your
left
palrn
so
as
to turn
the
lens focusing
ring with
fingers.
2.
Hold
the camera body
lightly,
with
your
right
foref
inger
lightly
on
the
shutter
button.
3.
Press
your
left elbow lightly
against
your
body
and
look
into the viewJinder steadying the
camera
against
your
face.
The
right
arm
should
be
relaxed
while
hold;ng the camera.
Use
tripod
when
you
rrse
telephoto lenses
or
slow
shutter
speeds.

Focusing
the Ca
me ra
Focusing is
taken
f
rom the
small round
area
in the
centre
of
the
view-f inder
screen. The inner
circle
is a
split
image
range-f inder
and is surrounded
by
a microprism.
The split-image
range-finder
divides
the
image horizontally.
When
the two
halves
are
brought
into exact
alignment, correct
focusing
has
been
obtained.
The
outer
microprism
convys
a broken,
shimmering image when
out of
f
ocus
and
becomes
clear and
sharp when
correct
f
ocus
is reached
.
Accessories,
such as a
rubber
eye{up, eye
piece
correction lens holder,
angle-f
inder
and
view-
finder,
magnifier
can
be
used
to assist
focusing.
Any
photographic
shop
will
advise
you
on
the
use of
these items.

10. Releasing
the
Shutter
When
the shutter button
is
pressed
f
ully
down
the aperture is stopped
down,
the m irror
f
lips
up
and the
shutter
opens
to
expose
the
film.
lf the
shutter speed
is
slower
than 1
i
30 second,
camera shake tends
to
occur.
Hold
the
camera
securely
in
th is
state, and
press
the
shutter button
slowly.
It
is
recommended
to use
a tripod and
cable
release
when
using a slow
shutter
speed.
Never move
the
shutter speed dial while
depressing
the
shutter button and
operating
the
shutter. lt
will affect
the shutter
speed
and the correct
ex-
posure
of the
f
ilm.

11.
REWINDING
THE FILM
To rewind
the
f ilm
after
the
last exposure:
1.
Press the
film
rewind
button until
it is locked
in
the depressed state.
2.
Tilt
up
the rewind crank and
turn
in the
direc-
tion of the arrow.
3. When
the
f ilm is
completely
rewound the
rewind
knob
will
suddenly
turn
very easily.
4. Pu ll
the
rewind knob against
the
resistance
to
open
the back.
5.
Take
out
the
f
ilm.
6.
Press
the
rewind knob down
and close
the back
cover.
Note
Avoad direct sunlight
when
unloading or
loading
film.lf
the
f
ilm
advance
lever
stops
midway and
the
f
ilm rewind button will
not remain
in
the
depressed
state,
then rewind the
film
while
keeping
the rewind button
depressed
with
your
f inger.
Never
open
the
back
cover
untii
the
f ilm is
com-
pletely
rewou nd.

1.
Wind the

self-timer

self-timer
is

set.

the shutter
release
button and
the self-
timer
operates
to
release
the
shutter
in aF,pro-
ximately
10
seconds
later.
3.
Once
the self-timer
becomes
ready
it
is impos-
sible
to
return it
manually.
So
operate
it
only
rnrhen
you
really need it.
4. The self-timer
is very useful when
you
wish to
include
yourself
in a
picture
,
o(,
you
can
use
it
in order
to
prevent
camera
movement
in
shutter
releasing
instead
of
using
the
remote
shutter
release
control.'

Depth-of-Field
At
any
aperture a
lens
will
give
sharp
focus for
a
certain
distance
both behind
and
in
f
ront
of
the
subject.
This
distance
is known as
the'depthof-
field'. The
smaller
the aperture
the
greater
the
depth-of-field,
Also,
lenses
with
a short
focal
length,
such
as wide
angle
lenses,
have
a
greater
depth-of
-f
ield
than
ones with a
longer
focal length,
such
as
telephoto
lenses.
Depth-of-f
ield
scale
A
depth-of
-f
ield
scale
is
engraved on
the respec-
tive
lenses.
When
the
camera
is
,
f
or
example,
f
ocused
on a subject at
the
distance,
e.g.,3m
with the aperture
set
at
f/8,
the subjects
located
within
B
at both
sides
of the
"1"
mark
(approx.
2m
in
the
f ront
range and
approx.
