•Donotoperatethevehiclewithoutaninstalledfrontbumperorbrushguardthatisspecically
designedandapprovedforuseonthisvehicle.Instabilityinthevehiclecouldcauseseriousinjuryor
death(Figure6andFigure7).
•Checkthevehicleforproperlocationofallvehiclesafetyandoperationdecalsandmakesuretheyare
inplaceandareeasytoread.
•Forvehicleswithcargobeds,removeallcargo(includingaccessories)beforeservicingthevehicle.
Failuretoheedthiswarningcanresultinseverepersonalinjuryordeath.
•Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicleorbatterycharger.Anyonedoingeven
simplerepairsorserviceshouldhaveknowledgeandexperienceinelectricalandmechanicalrepair.
Theappropriateinstructionsmustbeusedwhenperformingmaintenance,service,oraccessory
installation.

•Ensurebatteryconnectionsarecleanandproperlytightened.SeeBatteryCare–VehiclesEquipped

•PlaceTow/RunswitchintheTOWpositionbeforedisconnectingorconnectingthebatteries.Failureto
heedthiswarningcanresultinabatteryexplosionorseverepersonalinjury.
•Toavoidunintentionallystartinganelectricvehicle,disconnectthebatteriesanddischargethe

Gasolinevehiclesonly:
•Toavoidunintentionallystartingagasolinevehicle,disconnectthebatteryandsparkplugwire.See

•Frameground–Donotallowtoolsorothermetalobjectstocontactframewhendisconnectingbattery
cablesorotherelectricalwiring.Donotallowapositivewiretotouchthevehicleframe,engine,or
anyothermetalcomponent.
Allvehicles:
•Wearsafetyglassesorapprovedeyeprotectionwhenservicingthevehicleorbatterycharger.Weara
fullfaceshieldandrubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
•Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthe
vehicleorbatterycharger.
•Useinsulatedtoolswhenworkingnearbatteriesorelectricalconnections.Useextremecautionto
avoidshortingofcomponentsorwiring.
