TESTING THE GMOS-13
ONSTAR LEVEL ADJUSTMENT
*Important: Before beginning any of the
following, disconnect the negative battery
terminal to prevent an accidental short
circuit.
**Note: The ignition power source of the
Cadillac keeps the radio on until one of the
doors is opened. This is called the R.A.P.
(retained accessory power). The GMOS-13
is designed to retain this feature.
Connections to be made on the 14 pin harness
with RCA’s:
Connections to be made on the primary 16-pin to
Cadillac harness:
Connections to be made on the secondary 16 pin
to Cadillac harness:
The following wires on the 14-pin harness are for
aftermarket radios equipped with media / naviga-
tion features:
Connect the white RCA to the radio’s left front RCA 1.
output.
Connect the gray RCA to the radio’s right front RCA 2.
output.
Connect the green RCA to the radio’s left rear RCA3.
output.
Connect the violet RCA to the radio’s right rear RCA 4.
output.
Connect the blue/white wire to the radio’s amplier 5.
turn-on output.
Connect the red wire to the radio’s 12-volt accessory 6.
or switched wire.
Turn the ignition then the radio on to verify that the 1.
radio works. Check the balance and fade control of the
radio for proper operation.
Push the Onstar button, if so equipped, to verify On-2.
star is working properly. The radio will turn off or mute
(If the Mute wire is connected) and Onstar will be heard
through the front speakers. Turn off Onstar and the
radio will turn back on or un-mute if connected.
To adjust the Onstar volume level nd the Black/Yellow
wire on the 16-pin harness. Push the blue Onstar but-
ton, while the voice is speaking tap the Black/Yellow wire
to ground. There are 31 volume settings for Onstar; once
the 31st setting is reached and the Black/Yellow wire is
tapped to ground again it will automatically go back to
the rst volume setting. Once the volume is set it will stay

Connect the Green wire to the parking brake wire of 2.

Connect the Blue/Pink wire to the VSS or speed sense 3.
wire of the aftermarket radio.
Connect the Green/Purple wire to the reverse wire of 4.
the aftermarket radio.
Connect the Yellow wire to the radio’s 12-volt battery 1.
or memory wire.
Connect the Black wire without the ring terminal to the 2.
radio’s ground wire.
Connect the Black wire with the ring terminal to the 3.
radio’s chassis.
When completed plug the 14-pin harness into the
GMOS-13.
Connect the blue wire to the red accessory wire of the 1.
14-pin harness.
The Black/Yellow wire will be discussed later in this manual.
When completed, plug the 16-pin harness into the
GMOS-13.
**Note: If no RCA outputs are available, use the Axxess line
output converter part # ALOC648 (sold separately).
With all connections completed to the aftermarket 1.
radio, plug the GMOS-13 into the Cadillac’s wiring
harness.
Cycle the key by turning the ignition on then back off, 2.
then on again to test the radio.
**Note: Some minor modifications may be necessary to the
sub dash cavity to accommodate the GMOS-13.
**Note: First generation harness’ had this wire permanently
attached. If so, cut that wire in half. The side that goes
towards the GMOS-13 will now be an illumination wire.
Follow the above step for the side going towards the sec-
ondary 16 pin harness. Also, cap off the orange illumination
wire on pin 12.
