1. INSTALLATION OF SAFETY CABLE ON RLM

W-SERIES MULTIFUNCTIONAL FRAME

1.1 General

Situation

The inner assembly of the RLM W-series multifunctional frame is mounted to the base frame

with 2 bolts and 1 pillow block bearing. After transporting the frame upside down (with a

RLM projector mounted in it) a few cases showed damage to the pillow block bearing. To

exclude all possible safety issues a safety cable must be installed on the frame.

Objective

Improving the safety of the RLM W-series multifunctional frame.

Solution

Install a safety cable on the RLM W -series multifunctional frame as described in the proce-

dure below. This adds an extra ﬁxation point between the inner as sembly and the base-

frame.

Scope

All RLM W -series multifunctional frames (product number R9899700)intheﬁeld with pro-

duction date before D ecember 2011. The multifunctional frame can be used for the Barco

RLM W6 projector (R9006300) and Barco RLM W8 projector (R9006310).

1.3 Installing the safety ca ble on the multifunctional fra me

How to install the safety cable on the multifunctional frame?

1. Turn the multifunctional frame with RLM projector on its side (if possible).

2. Install the safety cable (reference 1, image 1-1) around the inner assembly and the

baseframe as illustrated. M ake sure the inner assembly and the basefram

e are secured

to each other with the safety cable. The 2 cable ends must have an overlap of 10 cm (4

in.).

3. Secure the safety cable with 2 cable clamps as illustrated (reference 2, image 1-2). Leave

a distance of 5 cm (2 in.) between each clamp. Tighten the 2 screws of each cable clamp.
