entertainment features. Whether you’re on the Vodafone network or on Wi-Fi, you can be connected wherever

RF Exposure

Your phone contains a transmitter and a receiver. When it is ON, it receives and transmits RF energy. When you

communicate with your phone, the system handling your call controls the power level at which your phone

transmits.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)

Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to

radio waves recommended by international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the independent

scientific organisation ICNIRP and include safety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons,

regardless of age and health.

The guidelines use a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit for

mobile devices is 2 W/kg and the highest SAR value for this device when tested at the ear was 0.523 W/kg*. As

mobile devices offer a range of functions, they can be used in other positions, such as on the body as described

in this user guide**.

As SAR is measured utilising the device’s highest transmitting power, the actual SAR of this device while

operating is typically below that indicated above. This is due to automatic changes to the power level of the

device to ensure it only uses the minimum power required to communicate with the network.

Body worn operation

Important safety information regarding radiofrequency radiation (RF) exposure

To ensure compliance with RF exposure guidelines the phone must be used with a minimum of 1.5 cm

separation from the body.

Failure to observe these instructions could result in your RF exposure exceeding the relevant guideline limits.

Limiting exposure to radio frequency (RF) fields

For individuals concerned about limiting their exposure to RF fields, the World Health Organisation (WHO)

provides the following advice:

Precautionary measures: Present scientific information does not indicate the need for any special precautions

for the use of mobile phones. If individuals are concerned, they might choose to limit their own or their

children’s RF exposure by limiting the length of calls, or using ‘hands-free’ devices to keep mobile phones away

from the head and body.

What’s in the box

For more information about how to use your phone, please refer to the User Manual that is stored on the

microSD card.

Tips:

 The connector is used for data transfer and charging.

 Your phone has an internal memory storage allocation of 512MB and a 2GB capacity SD card is offered

in the box. This should give you enough storage for normal use, but you can put in a larger SD card if

you need more.

Using the touch screen

You use your fingers to control your phone. The controls on your touch screen change dynamically depending

on the tasks you are performing:

1. Touch the buttons, icons, or applications to select items or to open applications.

2. Touch and hold some items to get additional options.

3. To scroll through lists, move your finger up or down with a slide gesture. From Home screen, you can also

slide left/right to browse the extended Home screen.

4. Touch and hold an icon on the Home screen or in the Main Menu to move it or to drag it to delete.

Connecting to the Internet

The phone has been set up so that you can directly access the Internet or use your email accounts using your

mobile network. To set up a new Wi-Fi connection, just open Wireless and networks tab from the Settings and

follow the setup steps to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network.

Before turning on your phone

First, install the SIM card, microSD memory card as described below.

IMPORTANT! Power off your phone before installing or replacing SIM card.

Inserting the SIM card

Insert your SIM card into the SIM slot. There is a diagram showing the correct orientation of the card printed

above the SIM slot.

Notes:

Removing or inserting the SIM card while the phone is switched on will lead to a reboot.

Inserting the memory card

Insert your memory card into the memory card slot. There is a diagram showing the correct orientation of the

card printed above the memory card slot.

Notes:

The microSD logo is a trademark of the SD Card Association.

Charging your Phone

Notes:

The new battery is not fully charged. When you first use the phone you should charge the battery

beforehand.

To charge the battery, you have to:

Connect the PC data cable to the phone via the connector.

1. Connect the PC data cable to the USB adapter.

2. Connect the USB adapter to a standard AC power socket.

Notes:

 The shape of USB power adapter may differ according to your region.

 The PC data cable connects the USB power adapter with the USB connector on one end and the phone

with the connector on the other end.

3. Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged.

Notes:

 If the battery is low, there will be a pop-up message on the screen.

 Touch the status bar to check the battery status.

 If the phone is powered on and the battery is charging, the icon will appear on the status bar. When

charging is completed, the battery indicator appears on the status bar.

Connecting to a computer

You can connect your phone directly to a computer, using the PC data cable. Plug the USB connector on the

cable into a USB port on your computer, and plug the phone connector into your phone.

As well as letting you share data to and from your computer, this will also let you charge your phone, but more

slowly than by using the power adapter.

Powering on/off your phone

1. Make sure that your SIM card is installed and the battery is charged.

2. Press the Power Key to power on your phone.

3. To power off your phone, press and hold the Power Key to bring up the Phone options panel, Select Power

off , and then touch OK.

Sleep mode

1. Sleep mode turns the display off and puts the phone in a low-power mode to save battery power. Your

phone also goes into sleep mode automatically when you leave it idle after a certain period of time.

2. To put your phone in Sleep mode, give the Power Key a short press.

Waking up your phone from sleep mode

1. Give the Power Key a short press to wake the display from Sleep

mode.

2. Drag the lock icon down to unlock. Or if you’ve secured the lock

screen, enter a pattern, PIN, or password.

Getting to Know Your Phone

Power key: Press to turn on your mobile phone. You can also use this key to lock or unlock the display of your

phone and put it into Sleep mode or wake it up.

Home key: Press to return to the Home screen.

Menu key: Press to open the menu on an active screen.

Back key: Press to return to the previous screen.

Search key: Press to open the Quick Search Box.

Camera key: Hold to open the camera and press to take the shot.

Messages key: Hold to open the message and write messages.

Introduction to the Home screen

The Home screen extends beyond the left and right sides of the screen. This gives you multiple panels and

provides more space for adding items. Slide your finger to the left or right to get the extended Home screen.

From any panel, you can start an application by touch its icon or use the Apps menu on the right corner to

enter the main menu.

<Notifications bar>: Displays the reminders and status icons of your phone. Flick down to open the

notifications panel.

<Shortcuts>: Touch these shortcuts to start related applications.

< Right side bar >: Include the Browser, Apps menu and Dialer.

< Vodafone weather and time >: Include easy access of location weather and time:

Time: Access your world clock and check the time in cities around the globe. Set and save alarms, timers

and the stopwatch.

Weather: Get instant access to the local weather report with temperature, UV index, wind speed and

direction. Compare and save weather reports for up to nine different locations around the world.

Adding items to your Home screen

 On the Home screen, make a long press on an empty area to get the Add to Home screen shortcut menu.

If your screen is full you may not be able to add another item until you delete an existing one.

 Select the category and the item you want.

Removing a Home screen item

1. Press Home Key to return to Home screen.

2. Touch and hold the item you want to delete until the icon appears on the screen.

3. Drag the item into .

How to open the Notification panel

Flick the status bar downwards from across the top of the screen to open the Notification panel, where you

can see your calendar events, new messages, and current settings – such as call forwarding or call status.

From here you can also open new messages, reminders, etc.

TIPS: You can also open the Notification panel by press Menu Key > More > Notifications from Home screen.
