To scroll through the Idle screen:
Drag left or right to view the hidden areas of the Idle screen.
To add items to the Idle screen:
1. Press → Add or touch and hold an empty area of the screen.
2. Select the item category and then select an item:
• Widgets: Add widgets to the idle screen.
• Shortcuts: Add shortcuts to items, such as applications, book-
marks, and contacts.
• Folders: Create a new folder or add folders for your contacts.
• Wallpapers: Set a background image.
SYNCHRONIZE DATA
You can synchronize data (Google messages, calendar, and contacts)
with the Google web server and back up or restore your data.
To activate automatic sync:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → Accounts and
sync.
2. Select Auto-sync.
3. Select an account
4. Select the applications that you want to synchronize.
To synchronize data manually:
From the Accounts and sync screen (see above), select an account and
press → Sync now. Your device will synchronize the data you set
for synchronization.
Android Market provides an easy way to shop for games and applications.
To install applications:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Market.
2. Select Accept when the terms and conditions appears.
3. Select an item category and then select an item.
4. Select Install (for free items) or Buy.
5. If you select Install, the item starts downloading immediately. If you
select Buy, you need to enter your credit card information. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
To uninstall applications:
1. From the Android Market home screen, press
→ Downloads.
2. Select the item that you want to delete.
3. Select Uninstall → OK.
Troubleshooting:
If an application confl ict causes the tablet to freeze and become
unresponsive (“lock up”), press and hold the Power/Lock key for about
8 to 10 seconds until the tablet resets.
WI-FI
Your tablet features wireless networking capabilities that allow you to
connect to wireless local area networks (WLANs).
To activate and connect to a WLAN:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → Wireless and
network → Wi-Fi settings → Wi-Fi. Your phone automatically
searches for available WLAN networks.
2. Select a network.
3. Enter a password for the WLAN.
4. Select Connect.
To add a WLAN:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → Wireless and
network → Wi-Fi settings.
2. Select Add Wi-Fi network.
3. Enter the SSID for the network and select the security type.
4. Set the security settings depending on the selected security type.
5. Select Save.

Gmail™
You can retrieve new email messages from Gmail to your Inbox.
To view email messages:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Gmail.
2. Select an email message.
You can reply to or forward a message. From an open message, tap
and select Reply, Reply all, or Forward.
To send an email message:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Gmail.
2. Press
→ Compose.
3. Enter a name or address in the To fi eld.
4. Enter a subject and message.
5. To attach an image fi le, press → Attach and then select a fi le.
6. Tap Send to send the message.
Google Talk™
Send instant messages to your friends or family using Talk.
To start a chat:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Talk.
The Friends list shows all of your Google Talk contacts, divided into
Available, Away, Busy, and Offl ine.
2. Select a friend from the Friends list. The chat screen opens.
3. Enter your message and tap Send.
To insert emoticons, press → More → Insert smiley.
4. To switch between active chats, press → Switch chats.
5. To end the chat, press → End chat.
Google Search
To search the web:
1. In Idle mode, tap the Google Search bar .
2. Use the keypad to enter the item to search for, then tap Go.
3. To narrow the search results, tap and tap Web or Apps.
4. Tap to use Google Voice Search.
Google Maps™
You can fi nd your location, search the online map and get directions.
To search the map:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Maps.
2. Drag your fi nger on the screen to scroll through the map.
3. To zoom in or out, tap the screen and tap or .
To fi nd your location:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Maps.
2. Tap .
To search for a specifi c location:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Maps.
2. Press → Search.
3. Enter the address or business category, or select an address or
category from the list of previously viewed locations.
4. Tap Go.
To get directions to a specifi c destination:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Maps.
2. Press
→ Directions.
3. Enter the addresses of the starting and ending locations.
4. Select a travel method (car, bus, or walk) and tap Go.
5. To view on the map, tap Show on map.
6. When you are fi nished, press → Clear Map.
YouTube™
YouTube is a free online video streaming service. You can use it to view
and share videos.
To watch videos:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → YouTube.
2. Select a video from the list of the featured videos. You can also
select a video category by pressing → Categories and selecting
a category.

To share videos:

To take a picture:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Camera.
2. Rotate tablet counter-clockwise to switch to landscape view.
3. Aim the lens at the subject and make any adjustments.
4. Tap to take a photo.
To record a video:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Camera.
2. Rotate tablet counter-clockwise to switch to landscape view.
3. Tap
to switch to the camcorder.
4. Aim the lens at the subject and make any adjustments.
5. Tap to start recording. Tap to pause recording.
6. Tap to stop recording and save the video fi le.
To view the video, tap the video thumbnail (if the Review setting is
off) and tap to play the video.
MESSAGING
To send a text message:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Messaging → .
2. In the To: fi eld, enter the recipient’s phone number or email
address.
3. Select the text input fi eld and enter your message text.
To insert emoticons, press → Insert smiley.
4. Tap Send to send the message.
To send a multimedia message:
1. In Idle mode, tap Messaging →

To browse web pages:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Browser.
2. Access a web page:
• Enter a web address and select Go.
• Tap and select a bookmark.
• Tap , select the Most visited or History tab, and select a web
page.
3. While browsing web pages, use the following features:
• To return to the previous page, press
.
• To zoom in or out double-tap the screen (the web page you are
viewing may not support this feature).
To open multiple pages:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Browser.
2. Access a web page and press .
3. Tap
and open another web page in the new window.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to open more web pages.
5. Press to view the web pages that are currently open.
6. Select the web page that you want to view.
To search for text on a web page:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Browser.
2. Press → Find on page.
3. Enter a keyword in the search fi eld.
The web page will highlight the text that matches your input.
To bookmark your favourite web pages:
1. In Idle mode, select Applications → Browser.
2. Open the web page you want to bookmark.
3. Press and tap Add Bookmark.
4. Select OK.

To play music files:
1. In Idle mode, tap Applications → Music.
2. Select a category and then select a music fi le.
3. Control playback using the following icons:
