Installation
Connect the scanner to the host (terminal) using the interface
(I/F) cable, as shown below. A cable from an older existing instal-
lation can be re-used for RS-232 interfaces. If external power is
used/needed, plug the AC Adapter into the AC wall outlet, then
connect it to the unit as shown in ‘b’ of the illustration.
Scan some known-good bar code samples to verify correct oper-
ation. The scanner should beep and/or flash its good read LED1
and send the bar code data to the host or terminal. If not, use the
Troubleshooting section of this guide to identify any problems.
1. Beeper and LED behavior may have previously been configured as “dis-
abled” by another user.

Wall/Desk Mount
The Wall/Desk Mount is an accessory part to which the scanner
can be attached. The accessory can be mounted horizontally to a
desk, countertop, or table using screws or a gooseneck stand. It
can also be mounted vertically to a wall using screws, or to a
VESA mount.
Installation Instructions
1. Determine the mounting location. While deciding on the
best position, keep in mind the best way to route the scan-
ner cables. You may need to drill a hole for them.
2. Use two #8 screws (sheet metal screws are preferred) to
securely fasten the Mount in the position desired, as
shown in the following figures.

Attaching/Detaching the Scanner
The scanner attaches or detaches from the Wall/Desk Mount as
shown in the illustration below.
Seating the Scanner in the Mount
1. Guide the scanner diagonally down, seating the L-Bracket
tabs on the Mount into the scanner’s slots.
2. Push the scanner down to snap into place.
Detaching the scanner
1. Tilt the top of the scanner forward, separating it slightly
from the back of the mount.
2. Pull up to detach. If oriented correctly, it should come out
easily.

Bottom Cover / Tilting Riser
To remove the Bottom Cover, put your finger in the hole and pull
it away from the scanner, at an angle. The snaps will disengage
on that side and the cover will release from the scanner. Attach
the Tilting Riser by snapping into the place of the Bottom Cover.
Figure 9. Attaching the Tilting Riser
When removing the Tilting Riser, note that the snaps on the riser
may be tight. If necessary, use a coin or other flat tool in the pro-
vided slots (as shown above) to separate the snaps and release
the riser.

How to Scan
Bar codes can be presented to the scanner’s window or pushed
past it using a sweep technique. The scanner can also be pro-
grammed to initiate a scan of a cell phone or other LCD bar code
object, or an image capture upon pushing the Camera Button.
Scanner Button
The Scanner Button performs multiple functions, depending on
how long it is pressed:
NOTE
Volume changes made using the Scanner Button are lost
when the scanner is powered down and are reset to the
configured setting. If you wish to permanently change
the volume, use the special programming labels in the
Product Reference Guide.

ner’s functions are programmable, and may or may not be turned
on. For example, some indications (such as the power-up beep)
can be disabled using programming bar code labels.

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM SOLUTION
Scanner does not power on Exchange the power supply with a known good
power supply and retest operation.
No communication with the
host
Consult your technical support personnel or refer to
your host system manual to verify the proper inter-
face type, cable and connection port(s) for the scan-
ner. Verify the interface cable is securely attached
to the host and the scanner.
The scanner will not read bar
codes at all, or reads poorly
Make sure the window is clean. Check that the bar
codes are of sufficient quality to be recognized by
the scanner. Wrinkled, smudged, or torn labels can
cause the scanner to not read at all. Scan known-
good labels of an active symbologya to check the
scanner's read operation.
If the scanner still does not function properly, consult the Product Reference Guide
(PRG) or contact your local supplier or Datalogic Customer Support Services.
a. Reading of the various bar code symbologies can be independently enabled
or disabled in the scanner.
Quick Reference Guide 15
Error Codes
f an error is detected, the scanner will sound a long low tone (for
three seconds) and flash its LED, indicating a failure. When this
occurs, press the Scanner button to hear the error code. If it is
configured to do so, the scanner will sound a series of beeps cor-
responding to the error code and/or flash its LED simultaneous
to the beeps. The table below describes what these codes mean
and what action should be taken for each.

Programming
Upon completing the physical connection between the scanner
and its host, proceed directly to the Programming Bar Codes
table below to locate the interface type the scanner is connected
to (for example: RS-232, Keyboard Wedge, USB, etc.).
Use the Bar Code Mask at the back of this manual to isolate the
bar code you intend to scan. Scan a START/END bar code once to
enter Programming Mode. After scanning the programming label
for the desired interface, scan the START/END barcode a second
time to accept your changes, exit Programming Mode and return
the scanner to normal operation.
Select other options and customize your scanner with program-
ming barcodes available in the PRG, or use the On Screen Pro-
gramming (OSP) utility available on the Datalogic website.
