General
Handle with care; gently apply items to be weighed onto the tray.
Place items center platform, allow about 3 seconds for stability then record your weight and remove the
items. This procedure will prolong the longevity and accuracy of your weighing instrument.
Although this scale is designed to be quite durable, avoid rough treatment as this may permanently
damage the internal sensor, and keep in mind this is a delicate instrument.
Allow sufficient warm up time. Turn the scale on and wait several seconds to give the internal
components a chance to stabilize before weighing.
When powered up for several seconds it is good practice to test your scale with a know weight to ensure
your scale is operating accurately. If the display shows an error or becomes locked on Out2 recalibrate
the scale.
Do not over-load (exceed the capacity) of the scale including the weight of any trays or bowls combined
with the product you are weighing. Overload or Dropping/shocking the scale will damage the sensor and
void your warranty.
Avoid lengthy exposure to extreme heat or cold, your scale works best when operated and stored at
normal room temperature. Allow the unit to acclimate to any major temperature change for at least one
hour before use.
Do not operate near an in-use cell phone, cordless phone, radio, computer or other electronic device.
These devices emit RF and may cause unstable scale readings. If your scale ever performs poorly, try
moving the scale to a different location.
The cleaner the environment the better, dust, dirt, moisture, vibration, air currents and proximity to other
electronic equipment can all cause an adverse effect on the reliability, stability and accuracy of your
scale. If the display appears to wander or jump when weighing, check for air currents or vibration.
Stable weighing is achieved when the display remains fixed for 3 seconds.
If your scale performs slowly, inaccurately, or shows the battery icon, replace the two “AAA” Heavy Duty
or Alkaline batteries. To install batteries have the protective cover installed and closed.
Low Batteries & bad battery connections are the #1 cause of scale malfunction and inaccuracy!
60% of returns are battery related problems, before returning try new batteries.
a) Release the battery cover, place thumb on cover and slide in direction of arrow.
b) Place batteries into battery compartment aligned correctly.
c) Replace battery cover and slide until it locks in place.
DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE AND DO NOT PRESS ON THE TRAY IF COVER IS OFF.
d) The scale is now ready for use
Remove the batteries if you plan to store the scale for longer then 14 days

Operation Your scale has 3 buttons for operator interface.
Press momentarily to turn ON or OFF the scale.
Press for ON; display test of all segments will appear - 8.8.8.8.8
Test will remain for approximately 3 seconds and then zero showing last displayed units.
>0< Performs a zero or tare function, sets the display to show 0.0 (g)
Can be used as a TARE for eliminating the weight value of an empty container.
Place an empty container on the scale and press >0< the display will show T 0.0 (g)
The T indicates a weight above the empty scale zero has been stored.
When you place items in the container the display increments to show item weight only.
When the container is removed its weight will be shown as a negative value.
Pressing >0< again will return the display to 0.0 (g).
UNIT Keep pressing momentarily to scroll through the available units g, OZ, dwt, ozt
Grams, ounces, pennyweight, troy ounces as indicated by icons on right of display
Low battery Indicated by an icon in the upper left of the display, change batteries if illuminated.
Stable Reading Stable weighing is achieved when the display remains fixed for 3 seconds.
Overload HHHH will appear on the display, remove excessive load immediately.
An overload may damage your scale, check with a test weight.
Negative Value A tared value will be displayed as - T 0.0 (g) with nothing on the scale.
Pressing >0< will return the display to 0.0 (g).
Auto off Scale shuts off after 2 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery power.
Cover/Tray The protective cover is designed to be used as a platform expansion tray.
The cover can only be removed when the scale is fully open and slid to the left.
Place the cover centered on the scale’s weighing platform and press >0< to tare.
Replace the protective cover to protect the scale after use.

Calibration
If your scale is not displaying the correct value for your test weight you must perform a calibration.
Place your scale on a flat solid surface with no vibration or air currents such as a fan.
PRESS ON/OFF button to power up your scale for at least 20 to 30 seconds to warm up.
PRESS UNIT button if necessary to ensure the display is in (g) grams.
PRESS ON/OFF button to turn off the scale,
PRESS and HOLD >0< button then PRESS ON/OFF button
Display will show approximately 6838 counts,
PRESS ON/OFF button
Display will show ZERO then 200.0 for the 550 gram capacity scale
Gently place a 200 gram calibration weight on the tray and wait 3 seconds.
PRESS ON/OFF button
The display will show CAL and then PASS then 200.0 (g).
Calibration is complete, gently remove the weight, your scale is now ready for use.
NOTE:
If after calibration your scale does not read accurately, an error may have occurred during the zero or
span setting. The calibration process should be repeated more slowly, please ensure the scale is placed
on a solid surface free of vibration and air currents.
IWSystems stock calibration weights should you not have the correct weight for your scale.
Troubleshooting
If the Display ever becomes locked showing "Out2", recalibrate the scale as outlined ABOVE.
If the Display ever becomes locked on LLLLL, or EEEEE, this indicates that the scale was shocked,
dropped or otherwise damaged and the delicate weighing sensor has been damaged. Try calibrating the
scale; if the sensor is within specification it will work again after calibration. Otherwise return your scale
to IWSystems for evaluation.
If the display becomes locked on 8888, this often indicates low batteries. However sometimes it also may
indicate a serious zero error. If you turn the scale on it can't acquire zero the cell is no longer in range of
the stored zero calibration setting. Try new batteries and a new calibration; if the error continues return
your scale to IWSystems for evaluation.
If the display shows UNST, this means the scale is not stable. Move the scale to a stable surface with no
vibration or air currents. Check that nothing is on the tray or stuck to the tray when you turn it on. If this
situation persists, it may be fatal load cell damage try calibrating the scale. If the error continues return
your scale to IWSystems for evaluation.
Although the Triton is designed to be extremely durable with extra overload protection built into the case,
It’s important that you never overload or drop/shock the scale. Scales are delicate instruments with
precision sensors when dropped or shocked the sensors feel this impact and may deform causing scale
errors.
