WARNING:
The hydraulic pumps manufactured by
Cembre
S.p.A. have been developed to
be used with crimping or cutting heads. According to this specic use, they do
not need and are not equipped with a safe oil non-return system.
For this reason, use in different applications from that intended (for example with
hydraulic jacks, lifting systems or similar) can be dangerous for the operator.
Cembre
S.p.A. does not accept any liability arising from the use of its hydrau-
lics pumps for applications different from those listed in its catalogues or other
documentation.
Safety: the pump is tted with a maximum pressure valve and pressure switch; MPC1 gauge, is
available upon request (see pag. 42) to check the proper setting of the pressure switch.

3. INSTRUCTION FOR USE
The pump is supplied with the battery completely discharged; before use, fully charge the
battery using the charger supplied (see § 3.5).
In order to extract the battery from its housing we recommend you lay the pump on its
back (see Fig. 2): press the release button downwards (1) remove the battery (2); to insert
it, simply slide it in along the guides until it locks.
3.1) Setting up
– Carry the pump using the integral handle (04) or the shoulder strap (14) attached to the
rings (03) (see Fig. 9).
– Position the pump on a at surface. There are two
stable work
positions recommended:
- vertical
, resting on its base.
- horizontal
, resting on its back where moulded ribs improve rmness and stability
(see Fig. 3).
Should it be necessary however, the pump’s hermetically sealed hydraulic circuit allows
it to operate in any position.
– Remove "REMOTE CONTROLLER" protective cap, connect the remote hand controller
to the socket (07) (see Fig. 4): tighten the plug (90) by turning the bezel clockwise until it
locks.
– Check the high pressure hose (13), if abrasions are evident, or if the hose is kinked or
damaged, do not use; connect the hose to the hydraulic head, and to the corresponding
female coupler (09) on the pump (see Fig. 5).

3.2) Operation
– Operate push button (GREEN) on the remote hand controller (10) to activate the motor
and pump oil to the hydraulic head.
– The pump will stop automatically when the nominal operating pressure is achieved, and
oil pressure will be maintained, conserving battery capacity. If the push button is released
before the nominal operating pressure is reached, the pump will stop and will maintain
the oil pressure at the achieved level. To complete the operating cycle, press and hold
the push button.
– By pressing the pressure release button (RED) the ram of the hydraulic head connected
to the pump will retract. To interrupt the "RETURN OIL" stage, release the button:
the ram of the hydraulic head will stop in the position reached.
3.3) Battery status
Inserting the battery into the pump or releasing the operating push button, automatically
displays the residual power level for 5 seconds (06).
The number of led’s illuminated indicates the residual power level:

NOTE: If required, by pressing hard on the mecha-
nical pressure release button (05), positioned on the
front of the pump, the oil will return to the reservoir
whatever the status of the battery or external power
supply.

3.4) Power from an external source (Ref. to Fig. 6)
Using the integral socket (08) (see Fig. 6) the pump can operate from a external power
supply (24 V dc - min. 30A).
Using a connecting cables type ESC..., available as optional accessories (see page 39),
proceed as follows:
– Make sure that the voltage is 24V dc.
– Connect the cable ESC... to the external supply, for the cable with spring clips be sure
to comply with the polarity: red (+), black (–).
Should the polarity be accidentally reversed, the tool will not be damaged but will operate
using only the integral battery (11). For rectication, reposition the clips correctly.
– Remove the "24V DC" protective cap and connect the other end of the ESC... cable to the
socket (08) of the pump; tighten the plug (91) by turning the bezel clockwise until it locks.
– When the work is nished, disconnect the cable and replace the protective cap.

3.5) Using the battery charger
Carefully follow the instructions in the battery charger manual.
The charging time with the specic charger supplied is approx. 60 minutes.
3.6) General information on how to use batteries
To use the batteries correctly, please follow these rules:
– Use the battery until the residual power display still has 1-2 red leds showing (see § 3.3):
this means the battery is almost completely discharged and no loss of the life of the
battery has occured.
– Charge the battery before completely discharging.
– Be particularly careful when charging a new battery the rst 2-3 times, in order to ensure
maximum available power.
– Allow the battery to cool down to ambient temperature, prior to recharging, as heat may
affect the recharging process.
– Charge the battery at ambient temperature of 10°C - 40°C (50°F - 104°F).
– Never recharge a fully charged battery, overcharging shortens the battery service life.
3.7) Storage (Ref. to Fig. 7)
– After completion of the work: release the oil pressure by pressing the release push
button (see § 3.2) and make sure that the ram of the head connected is completely
retracted.
– Disconnect and store the remote controller (10) and hose (13) in the canvas accessories
bag (15).
– Replace the protective caps.
– Store the unit in a clean, dry environment.

– Avoid dirty surfaces: dust and sand are a danger to any hydraulic equipment.
– Before disconnecting the hydraulic head from the hose, make sure that the ram is
completely retracted.
– Do not bend or kink the hydraulic hose.
4.1) Thorough cleaning
The pump is robust, completely sealed and requires very little daily maintenance.
Compliance with the following points should help to maintain the optimum performance
of the unit:
– After every use, the pump and accessories must be wiped with a clean cloth, taking
care to remove any residue, especially around the sockets (07 and 08), the quick coupler
(09) and inside the protective caps.
5. MAINTENANCE
Periodically check, at least every 6 months, the oil level in the pump.
Top up if necessary (see 5.1)
5.1) Topping up the oil (Ref. to Fig. 7)
– Position the pump on its base on a at surface.
– Completely discharge the oil pressure by pushing the pressure release button.
– Check the level of the oil and top up very slowly to completely ll the oil reservoir.
– When the operation is nished replace the cap (02).
To avoid air bubbles forming, we recommend keeping the oil reservoir always full.
Always use clean recommended oil, see § 1.
Do not use old or recycled oil.
Do not use hydraulic brake uid.
Insulated versions of the pump contain special insulating oil which must not be
polluted with any other types of oil.
Ensure that used oil is disposed of in accordance with current legislation.

5.2) Purging air bubbles from the internal hydraulic circuit (Ref. to Fig. 8)
The operations of connecting and disconnecting the exible hose and hydraulic heads
could cause air bubbles to form in the hydraulic circuit over time, adversely affecting the
performance of the pump.
To purge air bubbles from the circuit proceed as follows:
– Connect the hose and the hydraulic head to the pump.
– Place the hydraulic head onto a at surface, keeping it in a vertical position.
– Leave the pump in inclined position (see Fig. 8) at a height approximately 1,5 m (4.9 ft)
higher than the head.
– Operate push button until the pressure switch intervenes.
– Completely discharge the oil pressure pushing the release button.
– Repeat at least 3-4 times to ensure all bubbles collect in the upper part of the reservoir.
– Check the oil level, topping up if necessary (see § 5.1).
6. FAULT DIAGNOSIS
