Mettler Toledo GM303 Control Unit For PM balances is a keypad module for AM/CM/PM balances up to 6.1 kg. 1.1 Standard equipment
(1) Keypad with connection cable to GM bus
(2) Cable guide
(3) Set of screws with aluminum foot for version A balances
(4) Set of screws for version B balances
(5) Yellow protective cap for cone
1.2 Preparation
Disconnect balance from power supply.
Remove balance pan and pan support.
Mount yellow protective cap on cone.
Turn balance upside down with base facing upward.
Determine balance version with the aid of the adjacent illustrations.

1.3 Installation in version A balances
Remove Phillips screw (6).
Mount GM303 using the screws with fine-pitch thread in screw set A as shown in the illustration.
Route connection cable.
Mount cable guide with the self-tapping screws of screw set A.
Attach GM303 to the GM socket of the balance.
Degrease housing base in the region of the rear foot using acetone.
Stick on adhesive foot (7).
Start up balance and level.
Note
It is advisable to calibrate the balance after approx. 1 hour.

1.4 Installation in version B balances
Mount GM303 with the longer screws in screw set B as shown in the illustration.
Route connection cable.
Mount cable guide with the shorter screws in screw set B.
Attach GM303 to the GM socket of the balance.
Start up balance and level.
Note
It is advisable to calibrate the balance after approx. 1 hour.

2. Operation
2.1 Working with two units
Preparation
Select Unit 1 and Unit 2 in the configuration register as described in the operating instructions of
the balance in the section "Configuring Unit selection".
Base unit (Unit 1), e.g. -g- (gram)
Switch unit: press key ª.
Second unit (Unit 2), e.g. -ct- (carat)
Return to base unit: press key ª.

2.2 Piece counting
Preparation
Set Unit 2 in the configuration register to "PCS" as described in the operating instructions of the
balance in the section "Configuring Unit selection".
Counting in (counting out)
Load empty (full) container, tare.
Form reference: add (take out) 10 parts.
Store reference: press key ©.
In counting out, the piece count is displayed with a negative sign.
Add (take out) the number to be determined.
In counting out, the piece count is displayed with a negative sign.
Switching between piece count and weight: press key ª.
Note
If the © key is pressed again, the weight currently loaded will be stored as a new reference
(10 PCS).

2.3 Plus/minus and percent weighing
Preparation
Set Unit 2 in the configuration register to "%" as described in the operating instructions of the
balance in the section "Configuring Unit selection".
Load or weigh in target weight (reference weight).
Store reference weight: press key ©.
Remove target weight and load the weight to be compared or again weigh in to target weight. The
result appears in % of the reference weight.
Notes
If the © key is pressed again, the weight currently loaded will be stored as a new target weight
(100 %).
Checkweighing, coarse and fine weighing-in as described in the operating instructions of the
balance.

2.4 Animal weighing, weighing in extremely unstable surroundings
Preparation
Perform settings in menu as described in the operating instructions of the balance.
In animal weighing, the GM303 Control Unit offers the possibility of triggering a measurement cycle
manually with thekey.
The measurement cycle can also be triggered automatically (see operating instructions of the
balance, section "Applications Animal weighing").
2.5 Print/transfer command
Depending on the setting in the configuration register "I-Face", pressing thekey triggers a
value transfer from the balance to the attached device (printer, e.g. METTLER TOLEDO GA44 or
computer).
