I/Oconnector(external)-6-pincongurableI/Oterminalblock,whichisconnectedtothecamerathroughthemulti-connector

cable.Usewithexternaldevicesincombinationwith,forexample,tamperingalarms,motiondetection,eventtriggering,timelapse

recordingandalarmnotications.Inadditiontogroundandpower(DCoutput),theI/Oterminalconnectorprovidestheinterfaceto:

Alwaysusethedefaultdipswitchsetting(positionB)iftherelationshipbetweendevicesinthesystemisnotdened.

ThecameraattachesaparticularVLANtagtoallitsforwardedmulticastpackages.Themediaconverterswitchmanageshowthese

multicastpackagesareforwardedbetweencameras,mediaconverterswitchesandothernetworkdevices.Thisespeciallyusefulwhen

connectingthecameraandmediaconverterswitchtothenetworkinadaisychain.

Bychangingthepositionofthedipswitches,eachnetworkconnectorportinthemediaconverterswitchcanbecongured

tomanagemulticastsinthreedifferentways.

VLANtagsareusedtocreateindependentlogicalnetworks,virtuallocalareanetworks(VLANs),withinaphysicalnetwork.Multiple

mediaconverterswitchesthatareconnectedtoeachotherinadaisychainaremembersofthesameVLAN.Themediaconverter

InternetExplorer,allowinstallationofAXISMediaControl(AMC)whenprompted.

TheAxisproductincludesone(1)H.264decoderlicenseforviewingvideostreams.ThelicenseisautomaticallyinstalledwithAMC.

Theadministratorcandisabletheinstallationofthedecoders,topreventinstallationofunlicensedcopies.

Onceconnected,theAxisproductisaccessibleonyourlocalnetwork(LAN).ToaccesstheproductfromtheInternetyoumust

congureyournetworkroutertoallowincomingdatatrafctotheproduct.Todothis,enabletheNAT-traversalfeature,which

willattempttoautomaticallyconguretheroutertoallowaccesstotheproduct.ThisisenabledfromSetup>SystemOptions>

Network>TCP/IPAdvanced.

SettheRootPassword

TogainaccesstotheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongure

RootPassworddialog,whichappearswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPS,onpage44.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettoFactoryDefaultSettings,onpage50.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyintherstdialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

1.ClickCreateself-signedcerticate.

2.ProvidetherequestedinformationandclickOK.Thecerticateiscreatedandthepasswordcannowbesetsecurely.All

trafctoandfromtheproductisencryptedfromthispointon.

Multicastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof

clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe

routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample.

Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof20

simultaneousconnections.

AXISMediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisproducttodeterminethetransportprotocoltouse.Theorderofpriority,listedinthe

bandwidthrequirementsinsomecases,butmayalsohaveanadverseaffectonimagequality.

ThebitratecanbesetasVariableBitRate(VBR)orConstantBitRate(CBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage

complexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.CBRallowsyoutoseta

xedTargetbitratethatconsumesapredictableamountofbandwidth.Asthebitratewouldusuallyneedtoincreaseforincreased

imageactivity,butinthiscasecannot,framerateandimagequalityareaffectednegatively.Topartlycompensateforthis,itis
