LUSE ONLY rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.
LDo NOT use Alkaline/Manganese/Ni-Cd batteries.
Screen saver mode
The backlight will turn off completely after 1 minute
of inactivity if the handset is not on the base unit. Press
{ih} to turn the display on again.
Operating tips
Using the handset navigator key
Press {^}, {V}, {<}, or {>} to navigate
through menus and to select items shown
on the display.
Adjusting the receiver or speaker
volume
Press {^} or {V} while on a call.

Why is w flashing? LThe handset is too far from the base unit. Move
closer.
LThe base unit AC adaptor is not connected.
Check the connections.
LYou are using the handset or base unit in an area
with high electrical interference. Place the
handset and base unit away from interference
sources, such as antennas and mobile phones.
LThe handset is not registered to the base unit.
Register it (page 8).
Why can I not make calls? LThe dialling mode setting is incorrect. Set to
Tone or Pulse as needed (page 3).
Why is the handset display
blank?
LThe handset is in screen saver mode. Press
{ih} to activate the handset display again.
What should I do when the
handset does not turn on?
LMake sure that the batteries are installed
correctly.
LFully charge the batteries.
LClean the charge contacts and charge again.
How long is the battery
operating time?
LWhen you are using fully-charged Ni-MH batteries
(supplied batteries);
In continuous use: 12 hours max.
In continuous standby mode: 150 hours max.
LIt is normal for batteries not to reach full capacity
at the initial charge. Maximum battery
performance is reached after a few complete
cycles of charge/discharge (use).
LActual battery performance depends on a
combination of how often the handset is in use
and how often it is not in use (standby).
Can I keep the handset on
the base unit when I am not
using it?
LEven after the handset is fully charged, the
handset can be left on the base unit without any ill
effect on the batteries.
When should I replace the
batteries?
LIf the batteries are fully charged until 1 is
displayed, but 3 is displayed after a few calls,
replace the batteries with new ones.
What is a PIN? LThe PIN is a 4-digit number that must be entered
in order to change certain base unit settings. The
default PIN is 0000.

What do I need to do to
display caller information?
LYou need to subscribe to Caller ID service.
Consult your service provider/telephone company
for details.
LThe message You must first subscribe
to Caller ID. will be displayed until you
receive caller information after subscribing to
Caller ID service.
What should I do when:
I hear static or sound cuts
in and out?
there is interference from
other electrical units?
LPlace the handset and the base unit away from
other electrical appliances.
LMove closer to the base unit.
LYour unit is connected to a telephone line with
DSL service. We recommend connecting a filter
(contact your DSL service provider) to the
telephone line between the base unit and the
telephone line jack.
What should I do when the
operating time seems to be
short even after I fully
charged the batteries?
LWipe the battery ends (S, T) and the unit
contacts with a dry cloth.
What do I need to do to
erase y (Missed call) from
the display?
LThere are unviewed missed calls remaining. View
them using the following method.

The supplied handset and base unit are pre-registered. When you purchase an
additional handset, refer to the additional handset’s installation manual for
registration. If for some reason the handset is not registered to the base unit, register
the handset.
