This document describes how to mount an Aventail EX-2500 appliance in a two-post or
four-post equipment rack using the supplied rack hardware kits.
Two-Post Rack Installation
This section describes how to mount the Aventail EX-2500 appliance in a two-post
equipment rack.
Rack Hardware Kit Contents
The EX-2500 two-post rack hardware kit contains the following components:
Component Quantity
Side brackets (left and right) 2 pieces
Screws (left and right) 12 pieces
Rack-mounting screws with lock washers 8 pieces

Rack Configuration
The Aventail EX-2500 appliance can be mounted in a two-post cabinet.

Mounting the EX-2500 Appliance in a Two-Post Rack
This section describes how to attach the side brackets and install the Aventail EX-2500
appliance in a two-post equipment rack.
To mount the EX-2500 appliance in a two-post rack:
1. Position the right side bracket on the right side of the appliance, aligning the six
holes in the bracket with the holes in the appliance.

2. After positioning the bracket in the appropriate position, attach the bracket to the
appliance using six of the supplied screws.

3. Repeat steps 1-3 on the left side of the appliance.
4. Mount the appliance in the equipment rack with the provided rack-mounting
screws. It is recommended that two people perform this step together.
Four-Post Rack Installation
This section describes how to mount the Aventail EX-2500 appliance in a four-post
equipment rack.
Rack Hardware Kit Contents
The EX-2500 four-post rack hardware kit contains the following components:

L-brackets 4 pieces
Sliding rails (each piece has 3 segments:
an inner rail, a center slide, and an inner
slide)
2 pieces
Screw pack for four-post rack 1 set

Rack Configuration
The Aventail EX-2500 appliance can be mounted in a four-post cabinet.
Mounting the EX-2500 Appliance in a Four-Post Rack
This section describes how to attach the brackets and sliding rails, and install the
Aventail EX-2500 appliance in a four-post equipment rack.
To mount the EX-2500 appliance in a four-post rack:
1. Pull the inner slide out.
2. Screw the inner slide to each side of the appliance.
3. Install the four L-brackets to each corner of the system rack using the provided
rack-mounting screws.
4. Screw the center slide to the inner rail.

5. Pull out the center slide and screw the outer rail to the system rack.
The following image illustrates what the rack looks like after installing the sliding rail
kit.
6. Pull out the center rail.
7. Slide the appliance (with inner slides attached) onto the center slides.
8. Slide in the appliance and push it into the rack.

9. Attach the shorter ear bracket if needed. This bracket can help to prevent the
appliance from sliding out.
