5. Do one of the following:
— Enter the next available speed dial index.
— Delete the existing speed dial index by using followed by , and then
enter a new speed dial index.
Valid speed dial index values are from 1 to 9999.
If you enter a speed dialindex that already, “Speed dial index already exists”
appears. If you enteran invalid value, “Speed dial index invalid” appears.
6. Press the Save or Cancel soft keys to accept or cancel changes.
7. Press to return to the idle screen.
To assign a new speed dial key:
1. Press and hold an unassigned .
A new empty entry in the contact directory is automatically opened
allowing contact information to be added.
2. Press the More soft key, and then press the Add soft key.
3. (Optional.) Enter contact information.
Use the 1/A/a soft key to select between numeric and upper/lower case
alphanumeric modes.
Use the Encoding soft key to access special characters in other languages.
4. Do one of the following:
— Enter a contact number.
The number must be unique (not already in the directory).
— Enter a contact string where:
The number must be unique
“p” indicates 1 second delay
“,” indicates a 2 second delay
For example, your organization voice mail system is accessiblethrough
7700 and your voice mail password is 2154. If you enter“7700,,,2154” as
the contact string, you could use the speed dial key toaccess your voice
mail.

Navigating menu’s and entering data
To help you navigate menus and enter dta, use these tips:
After 20 seconds of inactivity, the menu system automatically exits to the idle screen unless an edit
session is in progress.
• To scroll through lists, us the up and down arrows.
• Press the * key to Page up. Press the # key to page down. Use these shortcusts when lists
appear on more than one page.
• To exit from any menu, press

• To cancel the current edit session, press the Cancel soft key.
• To delete text, press the << soft key.
• To View additional soft keys, press the More soft key.
• To Select a value from a list, use the left and right arrow keys.
