End of Sale/End of Life for Series 1 Tenor CMS Products
The Series 1 Tenor CMS family of products (14 Slot Chassis components, System
Controller Card, 8 Port T1 Line Interface Card, 8 Port E1 Line Interface Card, and 120
Port DSP Resource Cards) was replaced by the new Tenor CMS 240/960 Series of
products, which was launched in February, 2003.
The last day to order Series 1 Tenor CMS products will be August 1, 2004.
Introduction
The Series 1 Tenor CMS family of Carrier MultiPath Switches was first introduced in May
2002. These products have been successfully deployed and providing reliable, high
quality voice over IP services in service provider applications in over 70 countries
throughout the world.
End of Sale and End of Life
This document outlines the End of Sale (EoS) and End of Life (EoL) plan for the Series 1
Tenor CMS family of products. These products include the 14 Slot CMS Chassis and
Chassis Components, System Controller Card, T1 Line Interface Card, E1 Line Interface
Card, and DSP-120 DSP Resource Card.
The reason for this EoL notice is the phasing out of these older components. These
components have now been superseded by, newer, more reliable, items designed and
manufactured by Quintum. The new Tenor CMS 240/960 Series offers a wider range of
configurations in a choice of two, more compact, chassis options.
Recommended Product Migration
The recommended replacements for Series 1 Tenor CMS components are shown in the
table below -
Series 1 Tenor CMS Product Nearest CMS240/960 Equivalent
System Controller Card CMS System Controller Card**
8 Port T1 Line Interface Card DS-1 T1/E1 8 Port Line Interface Card**
8 Port E1 Line Interface Card DS-1 T1/E1 8 Port Line Interface Card**

** Please note that these new components require the system software to be upgraded
to Release 2-5-86 or higher to function correctly in the older 14 Slot Chassis. Only one
type of Line Interface Card is now required which is programmable to either T1 or E1
operation on a port-by-port basis. The DSP-120 DSP Resource Module is a small
daughter card that mounts onto either of two sockets located on the Line Interface Card.
