IMPORTANT: Read carefully before installing fixture. Retain for future reference.
GENERAL: Upon receipt of the fixture, thoroughly inspect for any freight damage which should be brought to the
attention of the delivery carrier. Compare the catalog description listed on the packing slip with the fixture label on the
housing to assure you have received the correct material.
SAFETY: This fixture must be wired in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes and
ordinances. Proper grounding is required to insure personal safety. Carefully observe grounding procedure under
installation section.
APPLICATIONS: This lighting fixture is designed for outdoor lighting services, and should not be used in area of limited
ventilation or inside high ambient temperature enclosures. It must be stored in a dry location prior to installation. Do not
expose lighting fixture to rain, dust or other environmental conditions prior to installation and insertion of photocontrol
or shorting cap (if so equipped). Do not install the fixture near combustible materials or locate next to airflow
blocking surfaces within 6 inches. Best results will be obtained if installed and maintained according to the following
recommendations.
WARNING
Make certain power is OFF before starting installation
or attempting any maintenance.
WARNING
Risk of fire/electric shock. If not qualified, consult an
electrician.
WARNING
Risk of Electric Shock – Disconnect power at fuse or
circuit breaker before installing or servicing.
WARNING
Risk of Personal Injury – Fixture may become damaged
and/or unstable if not installed properly.
Do not mount luminaire within 6” of a
combustible surface.
Do not handle luminaire by the glass. Do not
touch LEDs.
WARNING
Risk of Burn – Disconnect power and allow fixture to
cool before servicing.

INSTALLATION
Tools Required
9/16” socket or wrench, screwdriver #2 Phillips and Flat,
electrical wiring tools as needed.
Installation Bird Guard
A splash guard is provided pre-cut to accommodate 1-5/8”
diameter mounting arms. When using larger diameter
mounting arms, remove the punch out section of the splash
guard (Figure 1).
Installation - 2 Bolt
1. With housing lying on a smooth, soft surface open the
access door by releasing the side latches.
2. The door may be removed by opening
approximately 120° and lifting off the hinge by
disconnecting two wire harness quick disconnects.
ote:N If optional lanyard is supplied, the door should not be
removed. (Figure 2.)
3. Using a 9/16” socket, loosen the two pipe clamp
mounting bolts enough to allow mounting arm
(not included) to slide onto leveling steps. (Figure 2.)
4. Lift the housing into place and position end of mounting
arm onto leveling steps so that housing is level. Care
must be taken so arm does not inadvertently strike
internal components. (Figure 2. & Figure 4.)
5. Using a 9/16” socket tighten the two clamp mounting
bolts to 16-18 ft-lbs.
Installation - 4 Bolt
1. With housing lying on a smooth, soft surface open the
access door by releasing the side latches.
2. The door may be removed by opening

ote:N If optional lanyard is supplied, the door should not be
removed. (Figure 3.)
ote:N Lanyard is not optional for Verd-M and is always
2 clamp. Need to ensure clamp or lanyard is not
removed.
3. Using a 9/16” socket, loosen the four pipe clamp
mounting bolts enough to allow mounting arm
(not included) to slide onto leveling steps. (Figure 3.)

4. Lift the housing into place and position end of mounting
arm onto leveling steps so that housing is level. Care
must be taken so arm does not inadvertently strike
internal components. (Figure 3. & Figure 4.)
5. Using a 9/16” socket tighten the four clamp mounting
bolts to 16-18 ft-lbs.
Wiring (Figure 6.)
1. Pull service wires through mounting arm and into
housing approximately 10”.
a. Three-terminal block (2-wire service): Connect line
service lead to terminal that is connected to black
factory-installed wire. Connect neutral service wire to
terminal that is connected to white factory-installed
wire.
b. Three-terminal block (3-wire service, 2 lines,
1 ground): Connect 1 line service lead to terminal
that is connected to black factory-installed wire.
Connect other line service lead to terminal that is
connected to white factory-installed wire. Connect
ground service lead to terminal that is connected to
green factory-installed wire.
c. Three-terminal block (3-wire service, 1 line, 1 neutral,
1 ground): Connect line service lead to terminal that
is connected to black factory-installed wire. Connect
neutral service wire to terminal that is connected to
white factory-installed wire. Connect ground service
wire to terminal that is connected to green factory-
installed wire.
d. No terminal block (3-wire service, 2 lines, 1 ground):
Connect 1 line service lead to black factory-installed
wire. Connect other line service lead to white
factory-installed wire. Connect ground service lead to
green factory-installed wire.
e. No terminal block (3-wire service, 1 line, 1 neutral,
1 ground): Connect line service lead to black
factory-installed wire. Connect neutral service wire
to white factory-installed wire. Connect ground
service wire green factory-installed wire.
ote:N Terminals are numbered at the wire entrance of the
terminal block. See wiring diagram for additional
wiring details.
2. Ensure all wiring is secure and reconnect the quick
disconnects.
3. Return door to hinge if removed and swing the housing
door into closed position and secure latch or retighten
screws to 14~16 in-lbs.

Arm Installation (Optional)
Mast Arm: Square Pole (Figure 7.) and Round Pole
(Figure 8.)
1. Insert nut plate into pole and align insert holes with the
mounting holes in the pole.
2. Insert threaded rods through the top and bottom holes.
Screw into nut plate.
3. For round poles only - Install round plate adapter with
round side facing pole (Figure 8.). Align holes top and
bottom.
4. Insert the mast arm onto the threaded rods thru the top
and bottom holes.
5. Install washers, nuts and Torque nuts using 1/2” open
wrench to 35-40 ft-lbs.
6. Install cosmetic cover if applicable over arm and tighten
screws.
7. Pull wires through center holes on nut plate and pole.
8. Make electrical connection as established in the
wiring instructions. Refer to the standard installation
instructions.
Straight Arm (Figure 9.)
1. Insert nut plate into pole and align insert holes with the
mounting holes in the pole.
2. For round poles only - Install round plate adapter with
round side facing pole (Figure 7.). Align holes top and
bottom.
3. Insert bolts through the washer, arm, adapter (if
applicable) and pole top and bottom holes. Screw into
nut plate.
4. Torque bolts using 3/8” allen socket/wrench to 35-40
ft-lbs.
5. Pull wires through center holes on nut plate, pole,
adapters and arm.
6. Make electrical connection as established in the
wiring instructions. Refer to the standard installation
instructions.

Photocontrol (If Equipped)
1. Using a flat blade screw driver, loosen the two
flathead screws to allow rotation of the receptacle.
(Figure 10. & Figure 11.)
2. Insert screwdriver into center slot and rotate
receptacle until indicator arrow points in desired
direction.
3. Retighten screws.
4. Insert the photoelectric control (or shorting cap) into
receptacle and twist into locked position.
ote:N The photocontrol must contain a soft, resilient gasket
fastened to the bottom surface to assure a proper
weather seal between the control and the receptacle.
Maintenance
ote:N A regular maintenance schedule should be
followed to retain optimal light output and thermal
performance.
Optical lens cleaning should be performed with
a clean dry cloth to remove any dust or other
contaminants. Additional cleaning can be performed
with using a non-abrasive to polycarbonate cleaner.
Remove any dirt, leaves or other foreign debris from
the housing.
