ThrottleUp ThrottleupthepowertoyourtrackbypressingthetopendoftheThrottle
ControlRockerSwitchfirmlyforabout5seconds,untiltheengine'sheadlightand
lightedcarsburnbright.Thenputtheengineintomotionbyfirmlypressingthe
Directionbutton(holditforapproximately1second)onyourremoteonce.Iftheengine
doesnotbegintomoveassoonasyoufirmlypresstheDirectionbutton,youmaynot
havesentenoughvoltagetothetracktomakethetrainmove.Pressthethrottleupfora
fewmoresecondsuntilthetrainbeginstomove.
Toincreaseordecreasetrackvoltage,andthereforetrainspeed,pressthethrottlecontrol
rockerswitch.Pressingthetopendofthethrottlewillincreasevoltageandspeed.
Pressingthebottomendofthethrottlewilldecreasevoltageandspeed.
Theenginewillmaintainthespeedyousetafteryoureleasethethrottleuntilyoupressit
againtochangethevoltageandspeed.

M.T.H.enginesequippedwithLoco-Soundhavespeedcontrolcapabilitiesthatallowthe
enginetomaintainaconstantspeedupanddowngradesandaroundcurves,muchlikean
automobilecruisecontrol.Youcanaddordropcarsontherun,andtheenginewill
maintainthespeedyouset.
Theengineisprogrammedtostartwiththespeedcontrolfeatureactivated,youcanoptto
turnitoff.Thismeanstheengine'sspeedwillfallasitlaborsupahillandincreaseasit
travelsdownward.Itisalsoaffectedbytheadditionorreleasingofcarswhileontherun.
Becausetheenginewillrunmoreslowlyatagiventhrottlevoltagewhenspeedcontrolis
onthanwhenitisoff,youshouldadjustthethrottletoalowerpowerlevelforoperation
withspeedcontrolofftoavoidhigh-speedderailments.
puttheengineinneutral,thenquicklytapthe
transformer'sHornbuttononetimethenquicklytaptheBellbuttontwotimes,allowing
approximatelsecondtolapsebetweeneachquickbuttonpress.Repeatthe1horn,2
bellscodetoreturnittotheothercondition.
Eachtimeyoushutdowntheenginecompletely,itwillautomaticallyturnspeed
controlon.
Youcanlockyourengineintoadirection(forward,neutral,orreverse)sothatitwillnot
changedirections.Todothis,puttheengineintothedirectionyouwantorintoneutral,
tolockitintoneutral,runitataveryslowcrawl(asslowlyasitwillmovewithout
halting),andquicklybutfirmlytaptheHornbuttononcefollowedbythreequicktapsof
theBellbutton,allowingapproximately½secondtolapsebetweeneachquickbutton
press.Theenginewillnotchangedirection(includinggoingintoneutral)untilyou
repeatthe1horn,3bellscodetoreturntheenginetoitsnormalcondition,evenifthe
engineiskeptwithoutpowerforextendedperiodsoftime.
Whenusedwiththeremotelock-onincludedinthisset,Loco-Sound-equippedengines
gainProto-CastandProto-Dispatchfeatures
Toturnspeedcontrolonandoff,

Plugthe”Mic"intotheproto-dispatchportontheleftsideoftheremotelock-onand
speakintothemicrophone.
Whenthesefeaturesareinuse,thelocomotive'sownsounds(enginesoundsandbells,
whistles,andhorns)willbemutedsothatonlythesoundsyoubroadcastwillbeheard.
Becausethesetwofeaturesarevoiceactivated,therewillbeaseveralseconddelayafter
youstopspeakingintothemicrophoneorturnofftheaudiosourcebeforetheengine
soundsresume.Tostopusingthefeatureandreturntonormaloperation,unplugthecable
fromthelock-onjack.

Periodicallycheckthelocomotivewheelsandpickupsfordirt
andbuildup,whichcancausepoorelectricalcontactandtraction
andprematurelywearouttheneoprenetractiontires.Wheelsand
tirescanbecleanedusingdenatured(notrubbing)alcoholapplied
withacottonswab.
Tocleanthetrack,useRailKingTrackCleaningFluidandacleanragordenatured(not
rubbing)alcohol.Unplugthetransformerandwipetherailsofthetrack,turningtherag
frequentlytoensurethatyouareusingcleanclothontherails.Becausethe
manufacturingprocessleavesacoatingonRealTraxcenterrail,youshouldcleantherails
afterthefirst30minutesofuse(youmaynoticeanelectricalsmellduringinitialuseas
thecoatingwearsoff;thisisnormal).Thereafter,keepaneyeonthetrackandcleanit
whenitgetsdirtytoensuregoodelectricalcontactandtolengthenthelifeofthetires.

Yourlocomotiveisequippedwithtwoneoprenerubbertractiontiresontherearsetof
flangeddrivers.Whilethesetiresareextremelydurable,youmayneedtoreplacethemat
somepoint.

motorawayfromthetruckblockandlightlycoatthemotor
wormgearandbronzedrivegear(inthetruckblock)with
grease.
Reassemblethetruckandmotor,beingcarefulnottopinch
thepickupandgroundwiresbetweenthetruckblockand
motormount.
Repeattheprocedureifenginehasmorethanonemotor.
Reassemblethechassisandbody,beingcarefulthatthe
wiresarenotcaughtbetweenthebodyandchassis,as

beyondrepair.

lock-on.Re-plugitintotheaudiosourcefirst,thenintothe

Yourrecordingmaybeplayingtooquietlytotriggerthe
enginetostopplayingitsownsoundset.Turnupthe
volumeoftheaudiosourceyouareusing.
