Öhlins heavy duty suspension type 46HRC
Your new Öhlins suspension features a hose connected
reservoir. The suspension has the following adjusters:
Compression damping:
Adjustments are made with the knob on the hose con-
nected reservoir.
Rebound damping adjustments:
Adjuster is at the bottom of the strut: Use a 3 mm allen
key.
Spring pre-load:
Adjustments are made with adjustment rings on the strut
casing. Use the c-spanners
When delivered the Öhlins suspension is dialled to rec-
ommended settings for the specific brand and make of
the vehicle.
NOTE!
If you have turned the adjuster without counting the
number of clicks you must go back to the recommended
settings. Close the adjuster and count the clicks when
turning it counter-clockwise.
CAUTION!
Using too much force when closing the adjusters will
destroy important sealing surfaces.
NOTE!
US only: POF 3A01 and POF 4A01 are delivered with-
out spring.

Setting up your car:
Set ride height, camber angles and toe in.
Spring preload:
Distance between cylinder
head and spring lock nut: 69 mm in
basic setting.
Compression clicks: 8
(from closed position)
usable range approx. 0-25 clicks
Rebound clicks: 26
(from closed position)
usable range approx. 5-35 clicks

Fit the shock absorber to the car. First fit the up-
per mounting, then the lower mounting bolt and
tighten them. For tightening torque see the car´s
owners manual. Check that the hose banjo is
pointing backwards.

Fit the reservoir bracket to the fender. Use the
sheet metal screws provided.

Position the reservoir in the bracket and tighten
the camp. Do not overtighten.

Reassemble the anti roll bar.
CAUTION!
The hose must not be restricted and should run
in soft turns.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the correct
torque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement
of the suspension when it is being fully compressed
or extended.

Öhlins Racing AB can not be held responsible

the instructions for fitting and maintenance are
not followed exactly.
Similarly, the warranty will become null and void
if the instructions are not adhered to.

not approved by the vehicle manufacturer,

any personal injury or damage whatsoever
that may occur after fitting the suspension
components. Contact an Öhlins dealer or
other qualified person for advice.
2. Please study and make certain that you
fully understand all the mounting instructions
and the owners manuals before handling this
suspension components kit. If you have any
questions regarding proper installation
procedures, contact an Öhlins dealer or other
qualified person.

NOTE!
During storage and transportation, especially
at high ambient temperature, the oil and
grease used for assembling may run out
inside the packing and damage the expanded
polystyrene packing material. This is not
unusual and is in no way detrimental to the
suspension components.

the front page of this instruction. If anything is
missing, contact your Öhlins dealer.

WARNING!
1. It´s advisable to have an Öhlins dealer or other
qualified person to fit your shock absorber.
2. Instructions in the vehicle service manual are
to be followed when changing the shock ab-
sorber.
3. When working on a lifted vehicle it must be
securely supported to prevent it from falling.
Mounting instructions

Lift the car so the rear wheels are clear of the
ground. Make sure it´s steadily fixed so it will not
fall down.

Loosen the anti roll bar from the original shock
absorbers.

Remove the standard shock absorbers. First
loosen the lower mounting bolt and then the up-
per mount (three nuts). Remove the upper mount
and the sway bar bracket from the shock ab-
sorbers. See the car´s work shop manual.
NOTE!
Check the position of the anti roll bar bracket, so
it can be fitted to the Öhlins shock absorber in
the same way.

Check the marking on the Öhlins rear shock ab-
sorber to locate left or right rear.

Remove the top nut, the spacers, washer and
springs from the Öhlins strut. Remove the adjust-
ment ring and the two lock nuts. Fit the anti roll
bar bracket to the shock absorber by treading it
on and fix it in position with a lock nut.
CAUTION!
Make sure that the suspension can move through
its entire stroke without causing binds in the anti
roll bar attachments.

Reassemble the shock absorber. The distance
between the cylinder head and the spring lock
nuts should be 69 mm.

Fit the original upper mounting/bearing to the
Öhlin shock absorber. The original spacer on the
lower side of the mount should be used together
with the supplied spacers on the upper side of
the mount. See fig. below how to apply the
spacers. Tightening torque 65 Nm
