Before you install this kit, read the

tractors manual to become familiar with

the tractor, the controls and proper use of

the equipment.

Stay alert for potential hazards and

follow all safety precautions. Read all

instructions completely and make sure

you understand them before proceeding

with the assembly.

CAUTION

Before you attempt to clean, adjust or

repair any of this equipment, disengage

all drives, shut down the engine and

allow the unit to cool. Remove the key

from the ignition switch and disconnect

the negative battery terminal to prevent

accidental discharge and potential bodily

injuries.

WARNING

STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD

People with pacemakers and medical

electronic implants MUST NOT handle

MagKnife components.

Damage to watches and magnetic media

possible.

WARNING

1. Park the tractor on a flat and level surface,

fully lower the cutting units to the ground,

engage the parking brake, turn the ignition

switch to the off position and remove the key.

a. Wait for all movement to stop before

making any adjustments or modifications.

b. Allow sufficient time for the unit to cool

down.

c. take this opportunity to thoroughly inspect

the equipment and perform other required

maintenance.

Static Magnetic Field Strength

Static magnetic fields are generally measured in Gauss (US) and Tesla (EC).

1 Gauss (G) = 0.1 milliTesla (mT)

10000 Gauss = 1 Tesla (T)

Current static field guidelines restrict exposure for wearers of cardiac pacemakers to 5 G (0.5 mT)

Preparation

1. Refer to your product manuals and remove

cutting units from mower. Move cutting unit to

workbench.

2. Remove existing Bottom Block and Blade

assembly.

a. Take unit off cut.

b.Remove screws B and C and remove existing

Bottom Block and Blade assemby.

c. Check cutting cylinder for bearing end play.

Replace components as required.

Assembly

1. Fit new MagKnife assembly A into cutting unit

frame.

2. Secure using screws B and C

3. Adjust the cutting cylinder to the bottom blade

as described in your product manual.

NOTE: It is optional to backlap the new MagKnife.

The magnets bring the blade into close enough

tolerance that backlapping may not be

required.

4. Fit Warning decal H to cutting unit top cover

next to the Caution, Rotating Blade decal.

Fit MagKnife decal G to cutting unit top cover.

STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD

To prevent injury, do not attempt to

remove or install a bottom blade without

a Blade Installation and Removal Tool.

Magnetic forces can pinch fingers

between bottom blade and bottom block

and cause serious injury.

Damage to watches and magnetic media

possible.

WARNING

Bottom Blade Removal / Installation

Removal and installation of the bottom blade

requires the use of the Blade Installation and

Removal Tool (BIRT) .

Removal

1. Place cutting unit upside down on workbench.

2. Attach one BIRT X to each end of bottom

blade Y. BIRT should be orientated as

shown.

3. Rotate BIRT X towards rear of cutting unit.

Front of bottom blade Y should lift off the

Bottom Block Z

4. Using the rear roller as a fulcrum, lift the

bottom blade of the bottom block.

Installation

1. Attach one BIRT X to each end of bottom

blade Y.

2. Ensure mating surfaces are clean and

magnets do not protrude above surface of

bottom block.

3. Bring rear edge of bottom blade Y towards

rear edge of bottom block Z. Magnetic force

will pull the bottom blade to the bottom block

Z.

NOTE: Rear edge of the bottom blade Y must be

behind the two alignment pins.

4. Rotate the bottom blade forward into place.

Remove the BIRT and tap the bottom blade Y

into place using a rubber mallet, until the

bottom blade snaps into place.

5. Inspect alignment to ensure bottom blade Y is

correctly seated on bottom block Z.

For your protection wear thick leather

work gloves when removing and

installing blades.
