This air conditioner uses new refrigerant HFC (R410A).
The basic installation work procedures are the same as conventional refrigerant (R22) models.
However, pay careful attention to the following points:
(1) Since the working pressure is 1.6 times higher than that of conventional refrigerant (R22) models, some of the piping and
installation and service tools are special. (Refer to the following table.)
Especially, when replacing a conventional refrigerant (R22) model with a new refrigerant R410A model, always replace the
conventional piping and are nuts with the R410A piping and are nuts.
(2) Models that use refrigerant R410A have a different charging port thread diameter to prevent erroneous charging with
conventional refrigerant (R22) and for safety. Therefore, check beforehand. [The charging port thread diameter for R410A
is 1/2-20 UNF]
(3) Be more careful that foreign matter (oil, water, etc.) does not enter the piping than with refrigerant (R22) models. Also, when
storing the piping, securely seal the openings by pinching, taping, etc.
(4) When charging the refrigerant, take into account the slight change in the composition of the gas and liquid phases, and
always charge from the liquid phase side whose composition is stable.
SELECTING THE MOUNTING
POSITION
WARNING
Install at a place that can withstand the weight of the
indoor and outdoor units and install positively so that the
units will not topple or fall.
CAUTION
(1) Do not install where there is the danger of combustible
gas leakage.
(2) Do not install near heat sources.
(3) If children under 10 years old may approach the unit,
take preventive measures so that they cannot reach
the unit.
(4) Install the indoor unit on the wall where the height
from the oors more than 1800 mm.
Decide the mounting position with the customer as follows:
1. INDOOR UNIT
(1) Install the indoor unit level on a strong wall which is not subject to
vibration.
(2) The inlet and outlet ports should not be obstructed : the air should be
able to blow all over the room.
(3) Install the unit near at a place an power outlet or special branch
circuit.
(4) Do not install the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight.
(5) Install the unit where connection to the outdoor unit is easy.
(6) Install the unit where the drain pipe can be easily installed.
(7) Take servicing, etc. into consideration and leave the spaces shown in
the gure. Also install the unit where the lter can be removed.
[Indoor unit piping direction]
The piping can be connected in the 7 directions in the gure.
When the piping is connected in direction (B), (C), (D) or (E), cut
along the piping groove in the side of the front panel with a hacksaw.
2. OUTDOOR UNIT
(1) If possible, do not install the unit where it will be exposed to direct
sunlight. (If necessary, install a blind that does not interfere with the
airow.)
(2) Do not install the unit where a strong wind blows or where it is very
dusty.
(3) Do not install the unit where people pass.
(4) Take your neighbors into consideration so that they are not disturbed
by air blowing into their windows or by noise.
(5) Provide the space shown in the gure so that the airow is not
blocked. Also for efcient operation, leave open three of the four
directions front, rear, and both sides.
(6) Install the outdoor unit in a location which can withstand the weight of
the unit and vibration, and which can install horizontally.
(7) Provide the indicated space to ensure good airow.
(8) During heating operation, drain water ows from the outdoor unit.
Therefore, install the outdoor unit in a place where the drain water
ow will not be obstructed. (Heating and Cooling model (Reverse
cycle) only)
(9) Install the outdoor unit in a place where it will be free from being dirty
or getting wet by rain as much as possible.
(10) Install the unit where connection to the indoor unit is easy.

CAUTION
Install heat insulation around both the gas and liquid
pipes. Failure to do so may cause water leaks.
Use heat insulation with heat resistance above 120 °C.

In addition, if the humidity level at the installation
location of the refrigerant piping is expected to exceed
70%, install heat insulation around the refrigerant piping.
If the expected humidity level is 70-80%, use heat
insulation that is 15 mm or thicker and if the expected
humidity exceeds 80%, use heat insulation that is 20 mm
or thicker.
If heat insulation is used that is not as thick as specied,
condensation may form on the surface of the insulation.
In addition, use heat insulation with heat conductivity of
0.045 W/(m·K) or less (at 20 °C).

• Install the disconnect device with a contact gap of at least 3 mm in all
poles nearby the units. (Both indoor unit and outdoor unit)
• Install the circuit breaker nearby the units.
POWER
WARNING
(1) The rated voltage of this product is 230 V A.C. 50 Hz.
(2) Before turning on the verify that the voltage is within
the 198 V to 264 V range.
(3) Always use a special branch circuit and install a
special breaker to supply power to the air conditioner.
(4) Use a circuit breaker matched to the capacity of
the room air conditioner. (Install in accordance with
standard)
(5) The circuit breaker is installed in the permanent
wiring. Always use a circuit that can trip all the poles
of the wiring and has an isolation distance of at least
3 mm between the contacts of each pole.
(6) Perform wiring work in accordance with standards so
that the room air conditioner can be operated safely
and positively.
(7) Install a leakage circuit breaker in accordance with
the related laws and regulations and electric company
standards.
CAUTION
(1) The power source capacity must be the sum of the
room air conditioner current and the current of other
electrical appliances. When the current contracted
capacity is insufcient, change the contracted
capacity.
(2) When the voltage is low and the air conditioner is
difcult to start, contact the power company the
voltage raised.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
INDOOR UNIT INSTALLATION
1. CUTTING THE HOLE IN THE WALL FOR THE
CONNECTING PIPING
(1) Cut a 80 mm diameter hole in the wall at the position shown in the
gure.
(2) When cutting the wall hole at the inside of the wall hook bracket, cut
the hole to a point of intersection of centering marks.
When cutting the wall hole at the outside of the wall hook bracket, cut
the hole at a point of 10mm below.
(3) Cut the hole so that the outside end is lower (5 to 10 mm) than the
inside end.
(4) Always align the center of the wall hole. If misaligned, water leakage
will occur.
(5) Cut the wall pipe to match the wall thickness, stick it into the wall
cap, fasten the cap with vinyl tape, and stick the pipe through the
hole. (The connection pipe is supplied in the installation set.)
(6) For left piping and right piping and center piping, cut the hole a little
lower so that drain water will ow freely.
2. INSTALLING THE WALL HOOK BRACKET
(1) Install the wall hook bracket so that it is correctly positioned
horizontally and vertically. If the wall hook bracket is tilted, water will
drip to the oor.
(2) Install the wall hook bracket so that it is strong enough to withstand
the weight of an adult.
• Fasten the wall hook bracket to the wall with 6 or more screws through
the holes near the outer edge of the bracket.
• Check that there is no rattle at the wall hook bracket.
CAUTION
Install the wall hook bracket horizontally and vertically.
WARNING
If the wall pipe is not used, the cable interconnecting the
indoor and outdoor units may touch metal and cause
electric leakage.
3. FORMING THE DRAIN HOSE AND PIPE
CAUTION
(1) In order to align the drain hose and drain cap, be sure
to insert securely and vertically.
Incline insertion will cause water leakage.
(2) When inserting, be sure not to attach any material
besides water. If any other material is attached, it will
cause deterioration and water leakage.
(3) After removing drain hose, be sure not to forget
mounting drain cap.
(4) Be sure to x the drain hose with tape to the bottom
of piping.
(5) Prevent drain water frozen under low temperature
environment.
When installing indoor unit’s drain hose in outdoor,
necessary measure for frost protection should be
taken to prevent drain water frozen.
Under low temperature environment (when outdoor
temperature is under 0 °C), after cooling operation is
executed, water in the drain hose could be frozen.
Once drain water is frozen, the drain hose will be blocked
and water leakage may be resulted for indoor unit.
• Attach the Insulation (Drain hose) to the drain hose.
[Rear piping, Right piping, Bottom piping]
• Install the indoor unit piping in the direction of the wall hole and bind
the drain hose and pipe together with vinyl tape.
• Install the piping so that the drain hose is at the bottom.
• Wrap the pipes of the indoor unit that are visible from the outside with
decorative tape.
[For Left rear piping, Left piping]
• Interchange the drain cap and the drain hose.
• For left piping and left rear piping, align the ends of connection piping
with the mark and shape the connection pipe.
• Bend the connection piping at the bend radius of 100 mm or more and
install with in no more than 35 mm from the wall.
• After passing the indoor unit piping and drain hose through the wall
hole, hang the indoor unit on the hooks at the top and bottom of the
wall hook bracket.
[Installing the indoor unit]
• Hang the indoor unit from the hooks at the top of the wall hook bracket.
• Insert the spacer, etc. between the indoor unit and the wall hook
bracket and separate the bottom of the indoor unit from the wall.
After hooking the indoor unit to the top hook, hook the ttings of the
indoor unit to the two bottom hooks while lowering the unit and pushing it
against the wall.
4. FRONT PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
INTAKE GRILLE REMOVAL
(1) Open the intake grille.
(2) Pull down the knob.
(3) Lift the intake grille upward and
until the bearing at the top of
the intake grille is removed.
INTAKE GRILLE INSTALLATION
(1) The xing axle of the
intake grille is installed
on the front panel.
(2) Lay down the intake grille.
FRONT PANEL REMOVAL
(1) Remove intake grille (Refer to “INTAKE GRILLE REMOVAL”.)
(2) Remove six screws.
(3) The thumb is hung on the lower part as shown in the gure, and it
pulls to the front, pushing [] mark, and bottom hooks (two places)
is removed from wall hook bracket.
(4) The front panel is pulled to the front, raising the upper surface, and a
front panel is removed.
FRONT PANEL INSTALLATION
(1) Firstly, t the lower part of the front panel, and insert top and bottom
hooks. (Top center and both sides)
(2) Six screws is attached.
(3) The intake grille is attached.
CAUTION
Install the front panel and intake grille securely.
If installation is imperfect, the front panel or intake grille
may fall off and cause injury.
OUTDOOR UNIT INSTALLATION
CONNECTING THE PIPING
WARNING
(1) Install the unit where it will not be tilted by more than
5°.
(2) When installing the outdoor unit where it may
exposed to strong wind, fasten it securely.
• Set the unit on a strong stand, such as one made of concrete blocks to
minimize shock and vibration.
• Do not set the unit directly on the ground because it will cause trouble.
Since the drain water ows out of the outdoor unit during heating
operation, install the drain pipe sold separately and connect it to an
commercial 16 mm hose. (Heating and Cooling model (Reverse cycle)
only)
• When installing the drain pipe, plug all the holes (• holes at two places)
other than the drain pipe mounting hole in the bottom of the outdoor
unit with putty so there is no water leakage.
(Heating and Cooling model (Reverse cycle) only)
NOTES:
Installation in cold regions. Do not use the accessory drain pipe.
(If the drain pipe is used, the drain water in the pipe may freeze in
extremely cold weather.)
(1) Outdoor unit to be fasten with bolts at the four places indicated by
the arrows without fail.
(2) Fix securely with bolts on
a solid block. (Use 4 sets
of commercially available
M10 bolt, nut and washer.)
(3) Since the drain water ows out of the
outdoor unit during heating operation,
install the drain pipe and connect it to
a commercial 16 mm hose.
When installing the drain pipe, plug
all the holes other than the drain pipe
mounting hole in the bottom of the
outdoor unit with putty so there is no
water leakage.

CAUTION
When the outdoor temperature is 0 °C or less, do not
use the accessory drain pipe and drain cap.
If the drain pipe and drain cap are used, the drain water
in the pipe may freeze in extremely cold weather.

CAUTION

Prevent mineral oil from getting into the system as

(2) While welding the pipes, be sure to blow dry nitrogen
gas through them.
(3) The maximum lengths of this product are shown in
table 2. If the units are further apart than this, correct
operation can not be guaranteed.
1. FLARING
(1) Cut the connection pipe to the necessary length with a pipe cutter.
(2) Hold the pipe downward so that cuttings will not enter the pipe and
remove the burrs.
(3) Insert the are nut (always use the are nut attached to the indoor
and outdoor units respectively) onto the pipe and perform the are
processing with a are tool.
Use the special R410A are tool, or the conventional (for R22) are
tool.
When using the conventional are tool, always use an allowance
adjustment gauge and secure the A dimension shown in the following
table.

2. BENDING PIPES
CAUTION
(1) To prevent breaking of the pipe, avoid sharp bends.
Bend the pipe with a radius of curvature of 150 mm or
more.
(2) If the pipe is bent repeatedly at the same place, it will
break.
• When bending the pipe, be careful not to crush it.
• Do not bend the pipes in an angle more than 90°. When pipes are
repeatedly bent or stretched, the material will harden, making it difcult
to bend or stretch them anymore. Do not bend or stretch the pipes
more than three times.
• When bending the pipe, do not
bend it as is. The pipe will be
collapsed. in this case, cut the
insulating pipe with a sharp cutter
as shown on the right, and bend
it after exposing the pipe. After
bending the pipe as you want,
be sure to put the heat insulating
pipe back on the pipe, and
secure it with tape.
3. CONNECTION PIPES
CAUTION
(1) Be sure to apply the pipe against the port on the
indoor unit and the outdoor unit correctly.
If the centering is improper, the are nut cannot be
tightened smoothly. If the are nut is forced to turn,
the threads will be damaged.
(2) Do not remove the are nut from the indoor unit pipe
until immediately before connecting the connection
pipe.
(3) Hold the torque wrench at its grip, keeping it in the
right angle with the pipe, in order to tighten the are
nut correctly.
(1) Install the outdoor unit wall cap (supplied with the optional installation
set or locally purchased) to the wall hole pipe.
(2) Connect the outdoor unit and indoor unit piping.
(3) After matching the center of the are surface and tightening the nut
hand tight, tighten the nut to the specied tightening torque with a
torque wrench.

Copper pipes
It is necessary to use seamless copper pipes and it is desirable that the
amount of residual oil is less than 40 mg/10m. Do not use copper pipes
having a collapsed, deformed or discoloured portion (especially on the interior
surface). Otherwise, the expansion valve or capillary tube may become
blocked with contaminants.
As an air conditioner using R410A incurs pressure higher than when using
R22, it is necessary to choose adequate materials.
Thicknesses of copper pipes used with R410A are as shown in Table 1. Never
use copper pipes thinner than 0.8 mm (Normal diameter is 1/4 in., 3/8 in.),
1.0 mm (Normal diameter is 5/8 in.) even when it is available on the market.

VACUUM PROCESS
CAUTION
(1) Do not purge the air with refrigerants but use a
vacuum pump to vacuum the installation! There is no
extra refrigerant in the outdoor unit for air purging!
(2) Use a vacuum pump for R410A exclusively. Using the
same vacuum pump for different refrigerants may
damage the vacuum pump or the unit.
1. VACUUM
(1) Remove the cap, and connect the gauge manifold and the vacuum
pump to the charging valve by the service hoses.
(2) Vacuum the indoor unit and the connecting pipes until the pressure
gauge indicates –0.1 MPa (–76 cmHg).
(3) When –0.1 MPa (–76 cmHg) is reached, operate the vacuum pump
for at least 15 minutes.
(4) Disconnect the service hoses and t the cap to the charging valve to
the specied torque.
(5) Remove the blank caps, and fully open the spindles of the 2-way and
3-way valves with a hexagon wrench (Torque : 6 to 7 N · m (60 to 70
kgf · cm).
(6) Tighten the blank caps of the 2-way valve and 3-way valve to the
specied torque.
2. ADDITIONAL CHARGE
Refrigerant suitable for a piping length of 7.5 m is charged in the outdoor
unit at the factory.
When the piping is longer than 7.5 m, additional charging is necessary.
For the additional amount, refer to the following table.
3. GAS LEAKAGE INSPECTION
WARNING
(1) During installation, make sure that the refrigerant pipe
is attached rmly before you run the compressor.
Do not operate the compressor under the condition of
refrigerant piping not attached properly with 2-way or
3-way valve open. This may cause abnormal pressure in
the refrigeration cycle that leads to breakage and even
injury.
(2) During the pump-down operation, make sure that
the compressor is turned off before you remove the
refrigerant piping.
Do not remove the connection pipe while the compressor
is in operation with 2-way or 3-way valve open.
This may cause abnormal pressure in the refrigeration
cycle that leads to breakage and even injury.
(3) When installing and relocating the air conditioner,
do not mix gases other than the specied refrigerant
(R410A) to enter the refrigerant cycle.
If air or other gas enters the refrigerant cycle, the pressure
inside the cycle will rise to an abnormally high value and
cause breakage, injury, etc.
CAUTION
After connecting the piping, check the joints for gas
leakage with gas leak detector.
ELECTRICAL WIRING
WARNING
(1) Before starting work, check that power is not being
supplied to indoor unit and the outdoor unit.
(2) Match the terminal numbers and connection cable
colours of the indoor unit and the outdoor unit or
branch box. Erroneous wiring may cause burning of
the electric parts.
(3) Connect the connection cables rmly to the terminal
block. Imperfect installation may cause a re.
(4) Always fasten the outside covering of the connection
cable with the cable clamp. (If the insulator is chafed,
electric leakage may occur.)
(5) Always connect the ground wire.
HOW TO CONNECT WIRING TO TERMINALS
(1) Cut the cable end with a wire cutter or
wire-cutting pliers, then strip the insulation
to about 25 mm (15/16") to expose the
solid cable.
(2) Using a screwdriver, remove the terminal
screw(s) on the terminal board.
(3) Using pliers, bend the solid cable to form
a loop suitable for the terminal screw.
(4) Shape the loop cable properly, place it on the terminal board and
tighten securely with the terminal screw using a screwdriver.
A. For solid core wiring (or F-cable)
(1) Cut the cable end with a wire cutter or
wire-cutting pliers, then strip the insulation
to about 10 mm (3/8") to expose the
strand wiring.
(2) Using a screwdriver, remove the terminal
screw(s) on the terminal board.
(3) Using a ring terminal fastener or pliers,
securely clamp a ring terminal to each
stripped cable end.
(4) Position the ring terminal cable, and replace and tighten the terminal
screw using a screwdriver.
B. For strand wiring
Tightening torque [N·m (kgf·cm)]
M4 screw 1.2 to 1.8 (12 to 18)
M5 screw 2.0 to 3.0 (20 to 30)

2. INDOOR UNIT SIDE
(1) Open the intake grille. Remove the tapping screw for the wire cover
and remove the wire cover.
(2) Remove the tapping screw and while minding the cable clamp hook,
remove the cable clamp.
(3) Connect the end of the connection cable fully into the terminal block.
3. OUTDOOR UNIT SIDE
CAUTION
Use VW-1, 12 mm diameter, 0.5 to 1.0 mm thick,
connection PVC tube as the insulation tube.
Check that:
• When connected from the left rear, the drain hose is at the bottom
left of the wall pipe.
(For connection from the left rear)
FINISHING
1. CONNECTION PIPE, CABLE AND DRAIN HOSE
(1) Insulate between pipes.
(2) Temporarily fasten the connection cable along the connection pipe
with vinyl tape. (Wrap to about 1/3 the width of the tape from the
bottom of the pipe so that water does not enter.)
(3) Fasten the connection pipe to the outside wall with a saddle, etc.
(4) Fill the gap between the outside wall pipe hole and the pipe with
sealer so that rain water and wind cannot blow in.
[(A)Rear, (B)Right, and (C)Bottom piping]
• Overlap the connection pipe heat insulation and indoor unit pipe
heat insulation and bind them with vinyl tape so that there is no
gap.
[(D)Left bottom piping, (E)Left piping, (F)Center piping,
and (G)Left rear piping]
• Butt the connection pipe heat insulation and indoor unit pipe heat
insulation together and bind them with vinyl tape so that there is
no gap.
• Wrap the area which accommodates the rear piping housing
section with cloth tape.
• Bind the connection cable to the top of the pipe with vinyl tape.
Check that:
The top and bottom hooks are hooked rmly and the indoor unit
does not move to the front and rear or left and right.
• The indoor unit is accurately positioned horizontally and vertically.
2. INSTALLING FINAL PARTS
(1) Secure the cable clamp with tapping screw.
(2) Secure the wire cover and tapping screw.
(3) Close the intake grille.
(5) Fasten the drain hose to the outside wall, etc.

CAUTION
(1) Check that the indoor unit correctly receives the
signal from the remote controller, then install the
remote controller holder.
(2) Select the remote controller holder mounting location
by paying careful attention to the following:
Avoid places in direct sunlight.
Select a place that will not be affected by the heat
from a stove, etc.
REMOTE CONTROLLER HOLDER INSTALLATION
• Install the remote controller with in a distance of 7 m between the
remote controller and the signal receiver as the criteria. However, when
installing the remote controller holder, check that it operates correctly.
• Install the remote controller holder to a wall, pillar, etc. with the tapping
screw.
TEST RUN
CUSTOMER GUIDANCE
• Perform test operation and check items 1 and 2 below.
• For the test operation method, refer to the operating manual.
• The outdoor unit, may not operate, depending on the room
temperature. In this case, press the TEST RUN button on the remote
controller while the air conditioner is running, (Point the transmitter
section of the remote controller toward the air conditioner and press
the TEST RUN button with the tip of a ball-point pen, etc.)
• To end test operation, press the remote controller START/STOP
button. (When the air conditioner is run by pressing the TEST RUN
button, the OPERATION indicator lamp and TIMER indicator lamp will
simultaneously ash slowly.)
Before install wired remote controller
• The wired remote controller is an option.
It isn’t included in main body of air conditioner.
• When you use wired remote controller, some functions may not be
used.
• Please use the recommended wired remote controller.
CHECK ITEMS
1. INDOOR UNIT
(1) Is operation of each button on the remote controller normal?
(2) Does each lamp light normally?
(3) Do the airow direction louvers operate normally?
(4) Is the drain normal?
(5) Is there any abnormal noise and vibration during operation?
2. OUTDOOR UNIT
(1) Is there any abnormal noise and vibration during operation?
(2) Will noise, wind, or drain water from the unit disturb the neighbours?
(3) Is there any gas leakage?
CAUTION
(1) Before installing, be sure to disconnect all power
supply.
(2) Don’t touch the heat exchanger.
(3) During installing or removing operation, be sure not
to have wire caught by parts or draw it hard.
Or it may result troubles to the air conditioner.
(4) Avoid place in direct sunlight.
(5) Select place that will not be affected by the heat from
a stove, etc.
(6) Insure the length of cable is not over the
recommended maximum length.
(7) Before setting up the wired remote controller, please
conrm whether air conditioner can receive the
signal.
1. Front panel, control cover and display case
removal
(1) Refer to “1.4. FRONT PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION”
to remove the front panel.
(2) Remove the screw then remove the control cover.
(3) Remove the display case and connector.
2. Connecting to control unit of cable
(1) Pass the connector from the hole in the back.
(2) Connect the cable of wired remote controller to the board of Control
unit.
(3) Hook the cable to the rib.
(4) Use cable clamper and screw to fasten the cable.
3. Front panel, control cover and display case
installation
• Install front panel, control cover and display case by the reverse
procedures as stated in the step “1. Front panel, control cover and
display case removal”.
WARNING
During the pump-down operation, make sure that the
compressor is turned off before you remove the
refrigerant piping. Do not remove the connection pipe
while the compressor is in operation with opened 3-way
valve. This may cause abnormal pressure in the
refrigeration cycle that leads to breakage and even injury.
To avoid discharging refrigerant into the atmosphere at the time of
relocation or disposal, recover refrigerant by doing the cooling operation
or forced cooling operation according to the following procedure.
(When the cooling operation cannot start in winter, and so on, start the
forced cooling operation.)
(1) Do the air purging of the charge hose by connecting the charging
hose of gauge manifold to the charging port of 3 way valve (large)
and opening the low-pressure valve slightly.
(2) Close the valve stem of 2-way valve (small) completely.
(3) Start the cooling operation or following forced cooling operation.
When using the remote controller;
• Press the TEST RUN button after starting the cooling operation by
the remote controller.
The operation indicator lamp and timer indicator lamp will ash
simultaneously during test run.
When using the MANUAL AUTO button of the indoor unit;
(The remote controller is lost, and so on.)
• Keep on pressing the MANUAL AUTO button of the indoor unit for
more than 10 seconds.
(The forced cooling operation cannot start if the MANUAL AUTO
button is not kept on pressing for more than 10 seconds.)
(4) Close the valve stem of 3-way valve (large) when the reading on the
compound pressure gauge becomes 0.05~0 MPa (0.5 ~ 0 kg/cm²).
(5) Stop the operation.
When using the remote controller;
• Press the START/STOP button of the remote controller to stop the
operation.
When using the MANUAL AUTO button of the indoor unit;
• Press the MANUAL AUTO button when stopping the operation
from indoor unit side.
(It is not necessary to press on keeping for more than 10 seconds.)
Explain the followings to the customer in accordance with the operating
manual:
(1) Starting and stopping method, operation switching, temperature
adjustment, timer, airow switching, and other remote controller
operations.
(2) Air lter removal and cleaning, and how to use the airow direction
louvers.
(3) Give the operating manual and installation manual to the customer.
(4) If the custom code is changed, explain to the customer how it
changed (the system returns to custom code A when the batteries in
the remote controller are replaced).
*(4) is applicable to using wireless remote controller.
FUNCTION SETTING
CAUTION
(1) When moving and installing the air conditioner, do not
mix gas other than the specied refrigerant (R410A)
inside the refrigerant cycle.
(2) When charging the refrigerant R410A, always use an
electronic balance for refrigerant charging (to measure
the refrigerant by weight).
(3) When charging the refrigerant, take
into account the slight change in the
composition of the gas and liquid
phases, and always charge from the
liquid phase side whose composition
is stable.

(3) Process the end of the connection cables to the dimensions shown in
the following gure.
(4) Connect the end of the connection cable fully into the terminal block
and fasten with the screws.

(9) Put the service panel and valve cover back after completion of the
work.
Perform the “FUNCTION SETTING” according to the installation
conditions using the remote controller.
CAUTION
Conrm whether the wiring work for Outdoor unit or
Branch box has been nished.
Conrm that the cover for the electrical enclosure on the
outdoor unit is in place.
• This procedure changes to the function settings used to control the indoor
unit according to the installation conditions. Incorrect settings can cause
the indoor unit to malfunction.
• After the power is turned on, perform the “FUNCTION SETTING”
according to the installation conditions using the remote controller.
• The settings may be selected between the following two: Function
Number or Setting Value.
• Settings will not be changed if invalid numbers or setting values are
selected.
• Refer to the installation manual enclosed with the remote controller
when the wired remote controller (option) is used.
Entering the Function Setting Mode
While pressing the FAN button and SET TEMP. ( ) simultaneously,
press the RESET button to enter the function setting mode.
STEP 1
Selecting the remote controller custom code
Use the following steps to select the custom
code of the remote controller. (Note that the
air conditioner cannot receive a signal if the air
conditioner has not been set for the custom code.)
The custom codes that are set through this
process are applicable only during the FUNCTION
SETTING process. For details on how to set the
custom codes through the normal process, refer to
“Remote controller custom code setting”.
(1) Press SET TEMP. ( ) ( ) button to change the custom code
between

. Match the code on the display to the air
conditioner custom code (initially set to A). (If the custom code does
not need to be selected, press the MODE button and proceed to
STEP 2.)
(2) Press the TIMER MODE button and check that the indoor unit can
receive signals at the displayed custom code.
(3) Press the MODE button to accept the custom code, and proceed to
STEP 2.
Remote controller custom code setting
When 2 or more air conditioners are installed in a room and the remote
controller is operating an air conditioner other than the one you wish to
set, change the custom code of the remote controller to operate only the
air conditioner you wish to set (4 selections possible).
Conrm the setting of the remote controller custom code and the
function setting. If these do not match, the remote controller cannot be
used to operate for the air conditioner.
Selecting the remote controller custom code
Use the following steps to select the custom code
of the remote controller.
(Note that the air conditioner cannot receive a
signal if the air conditioner has not been set for the
matching custom code.)
(1) Press the “START/STOP” button until only the
clock is displayed on the remote controller
display.
(2) Press the MODE button for at least ve seconds to display the
current custom code (initially set to A).
(3) Press SET TEMP. ( ) ( ) button to change the custom code

Match the code on the display to the air conditioner custom code.
(4) Press the MODE button again to return to the clock display. The
custom code will be changed.
NOTES:
• If no butto
ns are pressed within 30 seconds after the custom code is
displayed, the system returns to the original display. In this case, start
again from step 1.
• The air conditioner custom code is set to A prior to shipment.
• Depending on the remote controller, the custom code may return to
custom code A when the batteries are replaced. In this case, if you use
a code other than A, reset the code after replacing the batteries. If you
do not know the air conditioner custom code setting, try each code
