Caution:
This unit should not be Adjusted or repaired by anyone except the qualified service personnel.
Important:
Since the movement of the CD mechanism and the sensitive circuitry may cause interference to the radio
tuner nearby, please switch this unit off while operating other radio devices.
Precautions for use
Installation
Unpack all parts and remove protective material.
Do not connect the unit to the mains before checking the main voltage and before all other connections
have been made.
Do not cover any vents and make sure that there are several centimeters of space around the unit for
ventilation.
AC Connection
1. Connect the detachable power cord to the AC socket (21) and the other end to the AC outlet.
2. When you first plug the unit into the mains, the unit will go into standby mode.
3. Press the On/Standby button (2) to turn on the unit. If the LCD display (6) is on with backlighting, it
means the power supply is normal. Now your system is ready to play music.
DC connection
For DC operation, please insert 8 pcs size C (UM-2) batteries into the compartment (22) as below direction
and unplug the AC socket (21) during operating with battery.

Setting the Clock:
1. While the device is in STANDBY MODE (POWERED OFF) press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4)
once, display will show “SET CLOCK”.
2. Then press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4) again and the display will flash ”24HR”, press the Tune
Up or Tune Down button (17) to select the clock format between 12 or 24Hour. Then
press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4).
3. The first digit of “00:00” is flashing on the LCD display(6). Press Tune Up or Tune Down
button (17) to set the correct hour. Press Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4) to store the correct hour.
Tuning The Radio:
1. Up to 20 radio stations can be stored in the memory
2. Press the FUNCTION button (13) to select “FM” mode.
3. Press and hold the Tune Up or Tune Down button (17) for 2-3 seconds and then
release, the unit will start seeking automatically until a radio station is reached.
4. Press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4), and a number will start blinking on the LCD display (6).
Press Pre/FOLDER UP or DOWN button (15) to select the desired station memory for storage.
Press Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4) again to store into memory on the selected number.
5. Repeat step 1 to 4 to store other stations.
The pre-set stations will be deleted completely if disconnected from the main power supply. It is
recommended that the system is switched into standby mode for convenience.
The device would resume to “Tuner” mode within 5 seconds automatically if no button is pressed
during the setting.
The present station can be overwritten by storing another frequency in its place.
FM-Stereo reception
Press the St/Mono button (7) repeatedly, the FM programs are available in mono and auto mode.
When stereo signals are weak, it is preferable to receive the program in Mono.
The unit is default to auto mode. If FM stereo signal is received, the unit will switch to stereo sound
automatically and the stereo indicator “ ” will appear on LCD display (6).
Hints for the best reception:
FM: the receiver has a FM rod antenna (20). Extending the rod antenna totally and rotating to proper
angle for the best reception.

Playing Compact Disc
Getting start
1. Press Function button (13) to select “CD” mode.
2. Push the CD door (18) to open the CD door.
3. Place a CD with the printed side facing out and then close the CD door.
4. The LCD display (6) will show the total number of tracks and total play time. Then, the unit will start
automatically.
5. Press Volume button (16) to the desired volume level.
Play / Pause mode
1. To interrupt, press the Play/Pause button (8) once, and the playing time on the LCD display (6)
will freeze. Press again to resume normal playback.
Stop mode
1. Press Stop button (7) during play or pause mode, the system will go into stop mode.
Skip mode (Tune (Skip) up / Tune (Skip) down )
1. Press Tune Up button (17) to go to the next track, the tracking number on display will changed
accordingly.
2. Press Tune Down button (17) to go to the previous track, the tracking number on display will
changed accordingly.
For MP3 Disc
1. After the disc is placed, the total number of track and album will be shown on the LCD display (6). The
unit will start to play directly.
2. Press Folder/ Pre-Up/Down button (15) select the folder number.
3. Press Tune Up or Tune Down button (17) to select the track number.
MP3 track format requirement:
- Bit rate: 32 kbps~320kbps, sampling rate: 32kHz, 44.1kHz and 48 kHz decodable
- The performance of MP3 Disc range due to the quality of recording disc and the method of
recording. Furthermore, the searching lead-time for MP3-CD is longer than that of normal CD due to
the difference format.
Repeat/Random mode
Press the Play Mode button (3) during playback to select repeat and random function, a single track, all
the tracks repeat or folder repeat (MP3 only) and random can be played in different modes as follows:
For CD
(1) repeat a single track (2) repeat all track (3) random (4) off mode
Play mode Indicator on LCD display

Listen to the desired track or whole disc on repeat by this function.
Random play
Listen to all the tracks in a random order by this function.
CD programming
Up to 20 tracks can be programmed for a disc to play in any order.
1. Firstly, press the Stop button (7) to stop the device.
2. Set in CD mode and stop the CD playback.
3. Press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4) and “MEMORY” will appear on LCD display (6).
4. Select a desired track by pressing Tune Up or Tune Down button (17).
5. Press the Mem/CLK-ADJ button (4) to store the track into memory.
6. Repeat step 3 and 4 to enter additional tracks into the memory.
7. When all the desired tracks have been programmed, press Play/Pause button (8) to play the disc
in assigned order.
8. Press Stop button (7) to stop playback, press Stop button again to clear all stored memory.
The programming mode will automatically stop if no button is pressed within 10 second after pressing
the Mem/CLK-ADJ button.
Playback of MP3 song via USB storage media
Connecting
The system is able to decode and playback all MP3 files which stored in the memory media with USB
connecting port.
1. Set the system on “Standby” mode.
2. Plug the USB media into USB Socket (10).
Connecting the USB upside down or backwards could damage the audio system or the storage
media. Be sure the direction is correct before connection.
3. Press the function button (13) to switch toUSB” mode.
4. The system will start reading the storage media and playing automatically, and the LCD display (6)
will show the track number and the playback time.
5. Playback operation is as same as that of the MP3 disc mentioned above.
Remark
- At USB mode, the system can detect and read the file under MP3 format.
- If connecting the system to MP3 player via the USB socket, due to variances in MP3 encoding
format, some MP3 player may not be able to play via the USB socket. This is not a
malfunction of the system.
- USB port does not support connection with USB extension cable and is not designed for
communication with computer directly.

Removing of USB
To remove the USB, turn off the power or switch the function mode to either CD, Aux, or Tuner first. Un-
plug the USB by pulling it out from the USB socket straightly without bending.
Bluetooth operation
Pairing a Bluetooth enabled device with the system.
1) Place the Bluetooth-enabled device for pairing and close to the system
2) Press Function button (13) to select BT function at main unit and the text BTwill appear on LCD
display (6) then changes to flashing “PAIRING”.
3) Set the Bluetooth-enabled devise to search for other available Bluetooth devices until it recognizes
CDBB-166”.
4) Select “CDBB-166” to start pairing.
5) Wait for completion of pairing until the “BT” appear on the LCD.
6) Start playing the music of your device.
7) To stop pairing, turn off the Bluetooth function of your device and the LCD display (6) of the unit will
now change to flashing “PAIRING”.
Aux-in connection
Connect the unit to any auxiliary device (i.e. MP3 player, or iPod ® (not included) by connecting the Aux-
in jack (11) with one end of 3.5mm stereo cable (not provided) and the other end connect to the auxiliary
device to perform the music.
1. Press Function button (13) to select “AUX” mode.
2. Start to playback your external device
3. Press the volume button (16) to the desire volume level. If the distortion is too high, reduce the volume
level of your auxiliary device.
Encoding of CD file into MP3 file
The system is able to encode normal CD/Tuner to MP3 format and record to memory media with USB
connecting port.(IE USB memory stick or flash drive).
Please plug in the USB to the USB port before encoding and make sure the USB memory stick has
enough memory for the encoding.
The system will create a music folder name – “RIP” for CD-DA encode, “RECfor Tuner/Aux in encode
andFROMCD” for CD-MP3 disc copy.
A) CD encoding
I) Encoding 1 track at 1x speed
1. Perform normal playback of the CD track you want to encode & record.
2. Press the “ ” button (23) and the unit will display “REC WAIT” and icon. Then the
display will change to “CHECK” and & USB icons.
3. Please wait until the display shows “REC_ONE” and then it will restart the playback of the song
and the display is flashing with & USB icons, indicating recording is performing now.
4. After completing recording, unit will stop playback automatically.
5. Press “stop ” button (7) to interrupt the recording mode anytime.
I) Encoding 1 disc at 1x speed
1. Set the CD that you want to encode & record at stop mode.
2. Press the “ ” button (23) and the unit will display “REC WAIT” and icon. Then the display
will change to “CHECKand & USB icons.
3. Please wait and until the display shows “REC_ONE” and by pressing “ ” button (23) again and
the display will change to “REC_ALL”.
4. The unit will start the playback of the first song and the display is flashing with & USB icons
which means recording is taking place.
5. After completing of recording, unit will stop playback automatically.
6. Press “stop ” button (11) to interrupt the recording mode anytime.

Remark:
- The recording speed is 1:1
- The recording format is preset at – MP3 Bit Rate: 128 kbps, sampling rate: 44.1kHz
- Press “stop ” button (7) to interrupt the recording mode at any time.
B) Copying of MP3 file
If putting a MP3 disc instead of a CD-disc, the system will copy the files to the USB if press the “
button (20). The operation procedure is the same as CD encoding as stipulated above, and the system
will switch to copying mode only if MP3 file is read.
C) Tuner Encoding
1. Follow the instruction of “Listening to Radio” section to receive the station you would like to encode.
2. Press the “ ” button (23) and the unit will display “REC WAIT” and icon will start
flashing. Then the display will change to “CHECKand & USB icon will start flashing.
3. Please wait and until the display is flashing with & USB icons which means that the recording
is performing.
4. After the recoding is finished, press stop button (7) until the icons “ ” & USB disappear. The
display will return to the tuner station.
D) Aux-In Encoding
1. Connect the unit via the 3.5mm Aux-in Jack (please follow the “Aux-in connectionsection) and
pause the playback of song you wish to record.
2. Press the “ ” button (23) and the unit will display “REC WAIT” and icon and flashing.
Then the display will change to “CHECKand & USB icons and flashing.
3. Please wait until the display is flashing with & USB icons, which means recording is taking
place and you can start playback of the song.
4. After finish of recoding, press stop button (7) until the icons “ ” & USB disappear.
E) Track Separation
You can divide the recording music from Tuner / Aux-in to USB track by track during encoding. Every time
when press the (track separation) button (3) during encoding from tuner/aux-in, the system will
generate a new track and continue recording. The text “TS” will show at LCD display temporally and then
change back to the radio station with flashing icon & USB, to indicate the unit has created a new
track successfully and continue the recording.
More features
A. Sleep function
1. Press Sleep button (14), “SLP-OFF” will be shown on the LCD display (6).
2. Keep pressing the button to Adjust the sleep timer in the order of 90 > 80 > 70 >….10 minutes
respectively and sleep icon “SLEEP” will flash on LCD.
3. System will stop and go to standby mode automatically after running the selected time.
4. To cancel the sleep mode, press Sleep button (14) until “SLP-OFF” displayed and the “SLEEP”
indicator disappear on LCD display.
B. Timer setting
This function allows the system to turn on automatically and wake you up by CD, FM and USB mode
respectively. Set the unit to standby mode before setting the timer
1. Press and hold the Timer button (14) to enter the timer setting mode display will showing ON
TIMER” with a clock icon.
2. Press the Timer button (14) again or wait until the “ON TIMER” disappears, the first two digits
of clock will flash, then press Tune Up or Tune Down button (17) to set the hour.

Press the Timer button (14) again to confirm the hour.
3. The last two digits of clock will flash, press Tune Up or Tune Down button (17) to
set the minutes and press Timer (14) button to confirm the timer to turn on the unit.
4. Press Volume up/down knob (3) to adjust the wake up volume level, press Timer button (14)
to confirm the volume level.
5. Press function button (13) to select wake up mode between CD, FM and USB. Then, press
the Timer button (14) to complete the Timer on setting.
6. The display will then flash “OFF TIMER”, press the Timer button (14) again or wait until the
“OFF TIMER” disappears, the first two digits of clock will flash, then press Tune Up or
Tune Down button (17) to set the hour. Press the Timer button (14) again to confirm the
hour.
7. The last two digits of clock will flash, press Tune Up or Tune Down button (17) to
set the minutes and press Timer (14) button to confirm the timer to turn off the unit.
8. The unit will then turn to standby mode with a clock icon appears on the LCD display.
9. The unit will automatically turn on and off at the pre-set time with the selected mode and
volume level.
Remark:-
If there is no music source being detected (such as CD or USB) when the preset time is reached,
system will default to “Tuner” function for wake up mode automatically. The system will pre-set at the
last radio frequency being listened before switching off
For Tuner wake up, the system will be pre-set at the last radio frequency being listened before
switching off.
There are about 4 seconds for alarm setting mode, this system will return to normal mode
automatically if no keys being pressed in this time frame.
During the “Alarm On” mode, press the On/Standby button (2) will switch off the system.
Active/de-active timer function
1. To active the alarm function, press the TIMER button (14) repeatedly to select ONor “OFF”. The
clock icon will appear on the LCD display if the function is turned on. Otherwise, the clock icon will
disappear from the LCD display.
C. Pre-set EQ function
This unit provides 4 different sound modes to enhance your listening experience. You can select the
desired effect by pressing the “Preset EQ” button (9) repeatedly at following sequence:-

workmanship for 12 months, from the date of purchase, provided that the product is used in accordance
