To help stabilize the tripod in windy conditions, attach the Balance Hook
and hang a weight (not supplied) from it.

Adjusting the 3-way pan head
Grasp the Control Arm and rotate counter-clockwise to adjust the pan
head position, then rotate clockwise to secure in place. To detach the
quick-release plate, flip the Plate Release Lever out and slide the quick-
release plate out of the holder. When returning the quick-release plate
to the holder, be sure to secure it in place by pressing the lever firmly
against the holder.

center column.
Quick-Release Plate
To lengthen the tripod leg, grasp the Rubber
Foot at the very end of the tripod leg and rotate
counter-clockwise until you have felt four distinct
clicks. While maintaining grip on rubber end
section, extend the leg to desired length. When leg
is at desired length, twist the rubber end section
clockwise to lock in place. To collapse the legs, grasp
the rubber end section and rotate counter-clockwise
until you have felt four clicks. Locks will then be
released and leg can be collapsed. Twist clockwise to
lock legs. Legs extend to a maximum of five sections.

Adjusting the leg angle
Set the legs of the Summit SS-P to one of three angles. To adjust the leg
angle, slide the Release Tab to the right and pivot the leg outward to the
desired angle. To lock the leg angle, move the tripod leg up and down to
set the Release Tab in one of three positions.
For very low heights, the lower section of the
center column can be removed as shown here.
Slide the Release Tab to adjust and lock the leg in one of three angles.
