Assembly Instructions
Safety-contact-edges may only be manufactured and installed by authorised persons.
1. Cutting the safety-contact-edge
The contact edge is to be cut to correct length (cut measure) using the approved LOWE cutting tool ONLY.
It is to be noted that the cut ends of section are right-angled and smooth. The measurement should be
27mm shorter than the final dimension of the finished contact edge (hight of end caps). Do not attempt
to cut the profile with craft knives or any other non-approved tool, to do so will invalidate any warranty.
2. Preparing the end caps
Cut out the appropriate cable entry of the end cap at the marked place, by which the cable is implemented,
with a side cutter.
The arrangement of the individual components depends on the respective gate construction and on
structural conditions, which must be considered.
3. Preparing the end caps
Insert the wiring plug (KS2L) or resistor plug (KS2W) in to the
switching chamber half-way ensuring that the pins on the plug
penetrate directly in to the copper braid within the top and
bottom parts of the switching chamber as illustrated.
4. Testing
Measure the plugged contact edge with a commercial resistance measuring instrument. For
in-operated condition the resistance has to be 8,2 kΩ ± 500 Ω and in operated condition the
resistance may not exceed 1 kΩ.
NOTE: If the resistor value is incorrect, the KS2 plugs have to be removed and pressed in again
& re-measured before proceeding to the glue application stage.
5. Gluing the KS2 plugs
Coat the surfaces of the KS2 plug and the switching chamber which will be stuck together, with the ASO CA-Primer (brush included in bottle). Then coat the
KS2 plug & switching chamber face all-around generously with ASO glue Contact VA 250 black. Immediately press the KS2 plug fully it into the switching
chamber (using either optional assembly tool or thumb) and hold in position for approximately 30 seconds. After releasing the plug there should be no visible
sign of any gaps between the KS2 plug and wall of the switching chamber.
These steps are to be repeated for the other end of the safety edge.
! PLEASE NOTE !
The ambient temperature during gluing should be between 10° and 30°C and the relative
humidity between 40% and 70%. It is not recommended to attempt assembly in atmospheric
conditions outside of these values, any attempt to do so may invalidate the product warranty.
The prole should be stored in dry conditions and checked thoroughly before the cutting &
assembly process for the prescense of any moisture or damage.
