Reset Button:Pressingtheresetbuttonperformsasystemreset,whichisthesameasturningtheKVMswitchOFFand
thenbackON.Note: This button is semi-recessed and will need to be pressed with a small object, such as a paperclip.

Firmware Upgrade Switch:InnormalKVMoperation,thisswitchshouldalwaysbesettotheNormal position. In the
eventofanunsuccessfulrmwareupgrade,thisswitchwillneedtobesettotheRecover position in order to perform a

General Safety Instructions
•Readalloftheseinstructions.Savethemforfuturereference.
•Followallwarningsandinstructionsmarkedonthedevice.
•Useofthisequipmentinlifesupportapplicationswherefailureofthisequipmentcanreasonablybeexpectedtocausethe
failureofthelifesupportequipmentortosignicantlyaffectitssafetyoreffectivenessisnotrecommended.Donotusethis
equipmentinthepresenceofaammableanestheticmixturewithair,oxygenornitrousoxide.
•ThisdeviceisdesignedforITpowerdistributionsystemswithupto230Vphase-to-phasevoltage.
•Donotplacethedeviceonanyunstablesurface(cart,stand,table,etc.).Ifthedevicefalls,seriousdamagewillresult.
•Donotusethedevicenearwater.
•Donotplacethedevicenear,orover,radiatorsorheatregisters.
•Thedevicecabinetisprovidedwithslotsandopeningstopermitadequateventilation.Toensurereliableoperationand
protectagainstoverheating,theseopeningsmustneverbeblockedorcovered.
•Thedeviceshouldnotbeplacedonasoftsurface(bed,sofa,rug,etc.),asthiswillblockitsventilationopenings.Likewise,
the device should not be placed in a built-in enclosure unless adequate ventilation has been provided.
•Neverspillliquidofanykindonthedevice.
•Unplugthedevicefromthewalloutletbeforecleaning.Useadampclothforcleaning.Donotuseliquidoraerosolcleaners.
•Thedeviceshouldbeoperatedfromthetypeofpowersourceindicatedonthemarkinglabel.Ifyouarenotsureofthetype
ofpoweravailable,consultyourdealerorlocalpowercompany.
•Topreventdamagetoyourinstallation,ensurethatalldevicesareproperlygrounded.
•Thedeviceisequippedwitha3-wiregrounding-typeplug.Thisisasafetyfeature.Ifyouareunabletoinsertthepluginto
theoutlet,contactyourelectriciantoreplaceyouroutlet.Donotattempttodefeatthepurposeofthegrounding-typeplug.
Always follow your local/national wiring codes.
•Positionsystemcablesandpowercablescarefullytoensurethatnothingrestsonanycable.Routethepowercordand
cables so that they cannot be stepped on or tripped over.
•Ifanextensioncordisusedwiththisdevice,makesurethatthetotalampereratingofallproductsusedonthecorddoes
notexceedtheextensioncordampererating.Makesurethatthetotalofallproductspluggedintothewalloutletdoesnot
exceed15amperes.
•Tohelpprotectyoursystemfromsuddentransientincreasesanddecreasesinelectricalpower,itisrecommendedthatyou
plugyourdevicesintoaTrippLiteSurgeSuppressor,LineConditionerorUninterruptiblePowerSupply(UPS).
•Whenconnectingordisconnectingpowertohot-pluggablepowersupplies,observethefollowingprecautions:
•Installthepowersupplybeforeconnectingthepowercabletothepowersupply.
•Unplugthepowercablebeforeremovingthepowersupply.
•Ifthesystemhasmultiplesourcesofpower,disconnectpowerfromthesystembyunpluggingallpowercablesfrom
the power supplies.
•Neverpushobjectsofanykindintoorthroughcabinetslots.Theymaytouchdangerousvoltagepointsorshortout
parts,resultinginariskofreorelectricalshock.
•Donotattempttoservicethedeviceyourself.Referallservicingtoqualiedservicepersonnel.
•Ifanyofthefollowingconditionsoccur,unplugthedevicefromthewalloutletandbringittoqualiedservicepersonnelforrepair:
•Thepowercordorplughasbecomedamagedorfrayed.
•Liquidhasbeenspilledintothedevice.
•Thedevicehasbeenexposedtorainorwater.
•Thedevicehasbeendroppedorthecabinethasbeendamaged.
•Thedeviceexhibitsadistinctchangeinperformance,indicatinganeedforservice.
•Thedevicedoesnotoperatenormallywhentheoperatinginstructionsarefollowed.
•Adjustonlythosecontrolsthatarecoveredintheoperatinginstructions.Improperadjustmentofothercontrolsmayresultin
damagethatwillrequireextensiverepairworkbyaqualiedtechnician.
•DonotconnecttheRJ11connectormarked“UPGRADE”toapublictelecommunicationsnetwork.

Installation
Rackmount Warnings
•Beforeworkingontherack,makesurethatthestabilizersaresecuredtotherack,extendedtotheoor,andthatthefull
weightoftherackrestsontheoor.Installfrontandsidestabilizersonasinglerackorfrontstabilizersforjoinedmultiple
racks before working on the rack.
•Alwaysloadtherackfromthebottomup,andloadtheheaviestitemintherackrst.
•Makesurethattherackislevelandstablebeforeextendingadevicefromtherack.
•Usecautionwhenpressingthedevicerailreleaselatchesandslidingadeviceintooroutofarack;thesliderailscanpinch
yourngers.
•Afteradeviceisinsertedintotherack,carefullyextendtherailintoalockingposition,andthenslidethedeviceintothe
rack.
•DonotoverloadtheACsupplybranchcircuitthatprovidespowertotherack.Thetotalrackloadshouldnotexceed80
percent of the branch circuit rating.
•Makesurethatallequipmentusedontherack,includingpowerstripsandotherelectricalconnectors,isproperlygrounded.
•Ensurethatproperairowisprovidedfordevicesintherack.
•Ensurethattheoperatingambienttemperatureoftherackenvironmentdoesnotexceedthemaximumambient
temperaturespeciedfortheequipmentbythemanufacturer.
•Donotsteponorstandonanydevicewhenservicingotherdevicesintherack.
Stacking
TheKVMswitchcanbeplacedonanylevelsurfacethatcansafelysupportitsweightplustheweightofattachedcables.When
placingtheKVMswitchonadesktop,removethebackingmaterialfromtherubberfeetthatcamewiththispackageandafx
themtotheswitch’sbottompanelatthecorners.Note: To ensure adequate ventilation, allow at least 5 cm on each side, and
13 cm at the back for power cord and cable clearance.
Rackmounting
TheKVMswitchcanbemountedina19-in(1U)rackspace.Therackmountbracketscanbeinstalledoneitherthefrontor
the back of the unit so that it can be mounted to the front or back of the rack.
1. Dependingonwhetheryoufront-rackmountorrear-rackmounttheunit,removethetwoscrewslocatedonbothsidesof
the front or back of the unit.
2. Usethescrewssuppliedwiththerackmountkittoattachtherackmountbracketstothefrontorrearoftheunit.
3. Position the device in the front or rear of the rack and align the holes in the mount brackets with the holes in the rack.
4. Secure the rack mount brackets to the rack using user-supplied screws.

Single-Stage Installation
Inasingle-stageinstallation,therearenoadditionalKVMswitchesdaisy-chainedfromtheKVMswitch.Tosetupasingle-
stageinstallation,refertothefollowinginstructionsandthecorrespondinginstallationdiagram:

MakesurethatpowertoallthedevicesyouwillbeconnectinghasbeenturnedOFF.Youmustunplugthepowercordsof
any computers that have the Keyboard Power On function.

GroundtheKVMswitchbyconnectingoneendoftheincludedgroundingwiretothegroundingterminalonthebackof
theunit,andthenconnecttheotherendtoasuitablegroundingobject.Propergroundinghelpstoprotectyourunitfrom
damage due to surges or static electricity.

Plugyourkeyboard,monitorandmouseintotheconsoleportsonthebackoftheunit.Note: You can connect any
combination of keyboard and mouse; both USB keyboard and mouse, both PS/2 keyboard and mouse, or one of each
type.

ConnectanavailableRJ45computerportontheKVMtoa Server Interface Unit (SIU) appropriate for the computer you
areconnectingusingCat5e/6cable.(SeeServerInterfaceUnits(SIUs)onpage2fordetailsonwhichSIUtouse.)

MakesurethatpowertoallthedevicesyouwillbeconnectinghasbeenturnedOFF.Youmustunplugthepowercordsof
any computers that have the Keyboard Power On function.

Plugyourkeyboard,monitorandmouseintotheconsoleportsonthebackoftherstKVMintheinstallation.Note: You
can connect any combination of keyboard and mouse; both USB keyboard and mouse, both PS/2 keyboard and mouse,
or one of each type.

Connect the Daisy-Chain OutportoftherstKVMswitchtotheDaisy-Chain InportofthenextKVMswitchinthe
installation using a Tripp Lite P772-Series Daisy-Chain Cable. Note: The distance between any two daisy-chained KVMs
can not exceed 49 ft. (15 m.). The distance between the first and last KVM in a daisy-chain can not exceed 328 ft.
(100 m.). Repeat this step for each KVM you are adding to the installation.

ConnectanavailableRJ45computerportonaKVMswitchtoaServer Interface Unit (SIU) appropriate for the computer
youareconnectingusingCat5e/6cable.(SeeServerInterfaceUnits(SIUs)onpage2fordetailsonwhichSIUtouse.)

ConnecttheSIUsconsoleconnectorstothecomputer.Repeatsteps4and5foreachadditionalcomputeryouare
connecting.

StartingwiththerstKVMintheinstallation,groundeachswitchbyconnectingoneendoftheincludedgroundingwire
tothegroundingterminalonthebackoftheunit,andthenconnecttheotherendtoasuitablegroundingobject.Proper
groundinghelpstoprotectyourunitfromdamageduetosurgesorstaticelectricity.RepeatthisstepforeachKVMinthe
installation.

StartingwiththerstKVMintheinstallation,connecttheincludedpowercordtotheswitch,andthenplugitintoa
TrippLiteSurgeSuppressor,PowerDistributionUnit(PDU)orUninterruptiblePowerSupply(UPS).Repeatthisstepfor
eachKVMintheinstallation.

Power-ONtherstKVMswitchintheinstallation,andwaitforitsstationnumbertobedisplayedonthefrontoftheunit.
Oncedisplayed,power-ONeachsubsequentKVMintheinstallation,waitingforthestationnumbertobedisplayedbefore
poweringonthenextunit.OnceallKVMsarepowered-ON,power-ONallconnectedcomputers.

Operation
ThissectioncoversbasicoperationoftheKVMswitch;logginginforthersttime,turningtheinstallationOFF/ON,hotplugging
and port selection.
Powering Off and Restarting
Ifitbecomesnecessarytopower-OFFtheKVMswitch,followthesestepstopoweritbackonproperly.
1. Power-OFFtheKVMandallcomputersthatareconnectedtoit.Note: You must disconnect the power cords of any
computer that have the Keyboard Power On function.
2. Wait10secondsafterpoweringeverythingdownandthenpowertheKVMswitchbackON.Ifyouhaveshutdownmore
thanoneKVMswitchinadaisy-chain,power-ONtheKVMclosesttoStation1rst.WaituntiltheKVMsStationIDappears
onthefrontpaneloftheunit,andthenpower-ONthenextclosestKVMswitchtoStation1,repeatingthisstepuntilall
KVMsarepoweredON.
3. AfterallKVMswitchesarepoweredonandtheirStationIDsdisplayed,power-ONtheconnectedcomputers.
Hot Plugging
TheB064-016supportsHotPlugging,meaningcomponentscanbeunpluggedandre-pluggedwithoutshuttingdowntheKVM
switch.Inordertoensureproperfunctionality,followtheproceduresbelow:
Hot Plugging KVMs in a Daisy-Chain Installation
KVMswitchescanbeunpluggedfromonepositioninadaisy-chainandre-pluggedintoanotherposition.Afterdoingthis,you
mustresetthestationIDsintheOSDsothattheproperdaisy-chainorderisrecognizedandtheOSDmenuscorrespondto
thechange.(SeeRESETSTATIONIDonpage16fordetails.)
Hot Plugging Connected Computers
Youcanunplugacomputer’sSIUfromoneoftheKVMscomputerportsandplugitintoanother.Afterdoingso,youwillneed
toupdatetheportsettings(PortName,OperatingSystem,etc.)intheOSD.(ThesesettingsareexplainedintheF4:ADM
sectiononpage16.Also,theportsettingsassignedtotheportyoujustmovedthecomputerfromwillremainthesameas
before until you change them. Note: If a computer’s operating system does not support hot plugging, this operation may not
work properly.
Hot Plugging Console Ports
Thekeyboard,monitorandmousecanallbehotplugged;however,thefollowingconditionsmustbenoted.
•Ifyouunplugamouse,thesamemousemustbepluggedbackin,orallKVMsinadaisy-chaininstallationmayneedtobe
powered-OFFandrestarted.(SeePoweringOffandRestartingonpage8.)
•Ifacomputer’soperatingsystemdoesnotsupporthotplugging,thisoperationmaynotworkproperly.
•Ifthereisnokeyboard/mouseresponseafterhotplugging,performakeyboardmouseresetbyholdingdownpush-buttons1
and2forthreeseconds.ThismustbedoneforeachKVMinadaisy-chaininstallation.
Logging In for the First Time
AftersettingupyourKVMinstallation,therstscreenthatyouwillseeistheloginscreen,promptingyouforaUsername and
Password.IfyouaretherstpersontoaccesstheKVMswitch,thedefaultusernameandpasswordareblank.Simplyhitthe
[Enter]keytwicetoopentheOn-ScreenDisplay(OSD)asanadministratorandaccesstheKVMswitch.Note: For security
purposes, it is strongly recommended that you change these to a unique username and password. If you are not the first
person to access the KVM switch, enter in the username and password as given to you by the KVM administrator.
Port Selection
OnceloggedintotheKVMswitch,youcanaccesstheconnectedcomputersviapush-button,OSDorhotkeycommands.The
sectionsthatfollowdescribeeachofthesemethods:
Push-Button Port Selection
Toaccessacomputer/server,simplypressthepush-buttononthefrontoftheKVMthatcorrespondstotheportthatitis
connected to. Pressing push-buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously for three seconds will perform a keyboard/mouse reset on all
ofthecomputersconnectedtothatKVMswitch.Pressingpush-buttons15and16simultaneouslyforthreesecondsinvokes
Auto ScanMode.(SeeF7:SCANonpage18fordetails.)

Operation
OSD Port Selection
WhenintheOSDmainscreen,youcanaccessacomputer/serverbyhighlightingitintheportlistandpressingthe[Enter]
key;or,bydouble-clickingonitwiththemouse.Youcanhighlightaportusingthe[i] and [h]arrowkeysonthekeyboard;or,
by clicking on the triangle icons on the far right of the OSD main screen. The [Page Up] and [Page Down] keys will display
additionalportsintheinstallation,aswillclickingonthearrowiconsonthefarrightoftheOSDmainscreen.Daisy-chain
stationsmayappearintheOSDascollapsedfolders,inwhichcaseyouwillneedtohighlightthedesiredstationandpressthe
[Enter]keytotogglebetweenexpandingandcollapsingthestationports.Youcanalsousethe[g] and [f] keystoexpand/
collapsethestationports;or,clickonthedesiredstationwithyourmouse.
Hotkey Commands
HotkeycommandsallowyoutoswitchthefocusoftheKVMusingonlythekeyboard.Thefollowingsectiondescribesthe
hotkeyfunctionalityavailablefortheB064-016.Attheendofthissectionisatableofalltheavailablehotkeys.
Hotkey Setting Mode
All hotkey commands start by entering Hotkey Setting Mode.WheninHotkey Setting Mode,the[Scroll Lock] and [Caps
Lock] keyboard LEDs flash in succession and ordinary keyboard and mouse functions are suspended. Only hotkey related
keystrokescanbeperformed.Toexitwithoutperformingahotkeycommand,simplypressthe[Esc] key. Note: Hotkey
command mode must be turned on in the OSD for hotkeys to work. (See the Hotkey Command Mode setting in the F3:SET
menu section on page 15.)
ToinitiateHotkeySettingMode,performthefollowingcommand:
1. Press and hold down the [Num Lock] key.
2. Whileholdingdownthe [Num Lock]key,pressandreleasetheminus [-] key.
3. After releasing the minus [-] key,releasethe[Num Lock] key.
Alternate Hotkey Setting Mode Activation Command
BydefaultthecommandtoactivateHotkey Setting Mode includes the [Num Lock] and minus [-] keys. This can be switched
to include the [Ctrl] and [F12]keysbyperformingthefollowingcommand:
1. ActivateHotkeySettingModeusingtheaforementionedcommand.
2. Press and release the [H] key.
A couple of seconds after releasing the [H]key,theactivationcommandwillbechangedtouse[Ctrl] instead of [Num Lock],
and [F12] instead of the minus [-]key.Oncetheactivationcommandischanged,youwillbeexitedfromHotkey Setting
Mode.Tochangetheactivationcommandback,simplyperformtheAlternate Hotkey Setting Mode Activation Command again.
The Hotkey Setting ModeactivationcommandcanalsobechangedviatheOSD.(SeetheHotkeysettingintheF3:SETmenu
sectiononpage15.)
Alternate OSD Menu Activation Command

Selecting the Active Port
EachportontheKVMisassignedafourdigitportID,whichcanbeusedwheninHotkey Setting Mode to switch the focus of
theKVMtoadesiredport.ThersttwodigitsoftheportIDrepresenttheStationIDoftheKVMthattheportison,andthe
lasttwodigitsrepresenttheportnumber.Forexample,theportIDforthefourthportonthesecondstationinadaisy-chain
wouldbe02-04.Youcanselecttheactiveportbyperformingthefollowingcommand:
1. Activate Hotkey Setting Mode using the aforementioned command.
2. KeyinthedesiredportID.
3. Press the [Enter] key.
After pressing the [Enter]key,thefocusoftheKVMwillswitchtotheselectedportandyouwillexitHotkey Setting Mode.
Note: When in a single stage installation, you do not need to enter the entire four digit port ID. For example, to access port 4,
you can simply type in 4 or 04 and press the [Enter] key.
Initiate an Auto Scan
Auto Scanallowsyoutoswitchbetweenportsatregularintervalswithouthavingtomanuallyswitchbetweenthem.Bydefault,
the Scan Duration is set at 5 second intervals. The Scan DurationcanbechangedviatheOSD(seetheScanDurationsetting
intheF3:SETmenusectiononpage14);or,viathehotkeycommandmentionedlaterinthissection.Whenscanning,the
only computers that are accessed are those that are accessible to the logged on user. To initiate an Auto Scan,performthe
followingcommand:
1. Activate Hotkey Setting Mode using the aforementioned command.
2. Press and release the [A] key.
3. Press and release the [Enter] key.
WheninAuto Scanmode,normalkeyboardandmouseoperationaresuspended.Youcanpressthe[P] key to pause at the

Initiate an Auto Scan at a Desired Time Interval

3. Enter in a Scan Duration from 1 to 255 seconds.

Skip Mode
SimilartoAutoScanmode,Skip Modeallowsyoutoeasilymonitortheconnectedcomputers.UnlikeAutoScanMode,
Skip Modeallowsyoutomonitorconnectedcomputersatyourleisure,withoutautomaticallyjumpingtothenextportafter
a set time interval. Skip Mode alsoallowsyoutojumpbackandforthbetweenports,asopposedtoanAutoScan,which
automaticallyskipstothenextavailableport.Toinitiate Skip Mode,performthefollowingcommand:
1. Activate Hotkey Setting Mode using the aforementioned command.
2. Pressandreleaseoneofthearrowkeys(i,h,g,f).YouwillautomaticallybeenteredintoSkip Mode and sent to either
thenextport,previousport,therstportintheinstallation,orthelastportintheinstallation,dependingonwhicharrow
key you pressed.
3. Once in Skip Mode,youcanpressanarrowkeytojumptoanotherport.

TheOn-ScreenDisplay(OSD)isamenu-basedinterfacethatallowsyoutoaccessconnectedcomputersandchangeKVM
settings.ToopentheOSD,hitthe[Scroll Lock] keytwice.Ifaskedforausernameandpassword,enterintheusernameand
passwordasgiventoyoubytheKVMadministrator.IfthisisthersttimetheKVMisbeingaccessed,thedefaultusername
and password are blank. Simply press the [Enter]keytwicetoopenuptheOSDastheadministrator.Forsecuritypurposes,
it is strongly recommended that you change these to a unique username and password. Note: The OSD activation command
can be changed from [Scroll Lock] [Scroll Lock] to [Ctrl] [Ctrl] or [Alt] [Alt]. (See the OSD Hotkey setting in the F3:SET menu
section on page 14.) When accessed, the OSD opens with the OSD Main page displayed.

OSD Main Screen Functionality

F1:GOTO
Thisfunctionallowsyoutosearchandaccessportsintheinstallationbynameorportnumber.Whenselected,atextbar
appears at the bottom of the main screen asking if you want to search by name or port. Press the [1]keytosearchbyname,
or the [2]keytosearchbyport.Onceyouhaveselectedyoursearchmethod,simplytypeinthenameorportIDtosearchfor.
Allportsthatmatchyourentrywillbedisplayed,minimizingthenumberofportsyouhavetosearchthrough.Oncethelistis
displayed,selectthedesiredporttoaccessit.Youcanalsopressthe [Esc]keyorclickontheXintheupper-rightcornerto

ThisfunctionallowsyoutochoosewhichportsaredisplayedintheOSDmainscreen.Whenselected,theF2:LIST function

or click on it with the mouse.

allowtheloggedinusertosetupanindividualworkingenvironment.AseparateproleisthensavedbytheOSDandactivated
according to the username and password provided when logging in. To change a setting in the F3:SET menu,highlightitand
press the [Enter] key or double-click on it with the mouse. Note: The following F3:SET menu settings are not user specific,
and will affect all users when changed: OSD LANGUAGE, SET CONSOLE KEYBOARD, SET LOGOUT TIMEOUT, ACTIVATE BEEPER
and SET QUICK VIEW PORTS.
The following table details the settings in this menu.

Auto Scan function.
SCAN/SKIPMODE Selects which ports will be scanned during Auto Scan and Skip modes. Allows you to choose

ScreenBlanker AllowsyoutodetermineiftheScreenBlankerfeatureisturnedon,andthetimeframeitisset
for.Whenselected,ahighlightbarwillappearatthebottomoftheOSD,allowingyoutoenter
a time frame from 0 to 30 minutes. If there is no console activity for the amount of time set
here,thescreenwillbeblanked.Whenblanked,consoleactivitysuchasmousemovement
will bring the display back. A setting of 0 disables this feature. It is disabled by default.
HOTKEYCOMMANDMODE Thissettingallowsyoutoenableordisablehotkeyfunctionality.Whenturnedoff,youwillnot
beabletoaccessHotkeySettingModetocontroltheKVM.Whenaccessed,ahighlightbar
will appear at the bottom of the OSD Settings Page. Press [Y] to turn the hotkey functionality
on,or [N] to turn it off. It is enabled by default.
HOTKEY SelectswhichcommandisusedtoactivateHotkeySettingMode.Whenselected,asub-menu
willappear,allowingyoutochoosebetween[Num Lock],[-] and [Ctrl],[F12]. Highlight the
desired hotkey and press the [Enter]key,ordouble-clickonitwithyourmouse.Thedefault
OSD hotkey is [Num Lock],[-].
OSDLANGUAGE SelectswhichlanguagetheOSDisdisplayedin.Whenselected,asub-menuwillappear,
allowingyoutochoosebetweenEnglish,German,Japanese,TraditionalChineseand
SimpliedChinese.Simplyhighlightthedesiredlanguageandpressthe[Enter] key or
double-click on it with the mouse. The language is set to English by default.
SETCONSOLEKEYBOARD AllowsyoutoselectthelanguageofthekeyboardthatisconnectedtotheKVMconsole
port,whichhelpstoensurethatthecorrectkeyboardinputissentthroughtheKVMtothe
connectedcomputers.ThedefaultisAUTO.
SETLOGOUTTIMEOUT Allows you to set the amount of idle time that must pass before a user is logged out of the
KVM,requiringthemtoentertheirusernameandpasswordtoregainaccess.Whenaccessed,
ahighlightbarappearsatthebottomoftheOSD,allowingyoutoenteravaluebetween0
and180minutes.Thissettingdefaultsat0,whichdisablestheLogoutTimeoutfunction.
ACTIVATEBEEPER Allowsyoutoturnthebeeperonoroff.Whenactivated,thebeepersoundswhenchanging
ports,performinghotkeycommands,activatinganAutoScanorwhenaninvalidentryismade
in the OSD. This setting is turned on by default.
SETQUICKVIEWPORTS AllowsyoutosetportsasQuickViewports.Whenselected,theportlistwillbedisplayed,
allowingyoutoselectorunselectportsasQuickViewportsbyhighlightingthemandpressing
the [Spacebar]key,orbydouble-clickingonthemwiththemouse.SettingportsasQuick

the F4:ADM menu,highlightitandpressthe [Enter] key or double-click on it with the mouse. The following table details the

press the [Enter]key,ordouble-clickonitwiththemouse.Asub-menuappearsthatdisplays
alistofallportsontheinstallation,withthecurrentaccessrightsdisplayedinacolumnto
therightoftheportnumber.Therearethreetypesofaccessrights; Full Access (F), View Only

Ports that are set to No Access (N)willnotshowupinauser’sOSDportlist.Bydefault,all
users are given full access rights to every port.
EDITPORTNAMES Allowstheadministratortogiveeachportauniquename.Whenselected,alistofallports
ontheinstallationappears.Toeditaport’sname,highlightitandpressthe[Enter] key or
double-clickonitwiththemouse.AhighlightbarappearsatthebottomoftheOSD,allowing
youtotypeinanewname,oreditanexistingone.Whendoneenteringtheportname,press
the [Enter] key. Press the [Esc] key at anytime to cancel editing without the change taking
affect. Note: Port Names are limited to 14 characters, and can include any combination of
letters and numbers. (A-Z, 0-9)
RESTOREDEFAULTVALUES ErasesallchangesandrestoresthedefaultvaluesforallOSDsettingsexceptusernames,
passwords and port names. The OSD default values can also be restored by performing the
RestoreOSDDefaultValueshotkeycommanddescribedonpage11.Whenaccessed,the
settingwilldisplayahighlightbaratthebottomofthescreenaskingyoutoconrmthatyou
want to restore the default values. Press [Y]torestoredefaultvalues,or[N] to cancel without
restoring the default values.
CLEARTHENAMELIST Allowstheadministratortoclearallportnamesatthesametime.Whenselected,ahighlight
barwillappearatthebottomoftheOSD,askingifyouwanttoclearthenamelist.Press[Y]
to clear the name list or [N]tocancelwithoutclearingit.Youcanalsopressthe[Esc] key to
cancel.
RESETSTATIONIDS Intheeventadaisy-chainedKVMismovedtoanotherpositionintheinstallation,thissetting
performs a re-scan of the installation and updates the OSD to correspond to the new physical
layout.Onlyportnameswillbetransferredtotheirnewpositionsintheinstallation,allother
settingsforthetransferredKVM(SetAccessiblePorts,SetQuickViewPorts,etc.)willhaveto
be reset manually.
SETOPERATINGSYSTEM SetstheoperatingsystemofthecomputersconnectedtotheKVM.Whenselected,alistof
allportsisdisplayed,withthecurrentlyselectedoperatingsystemshowninthecolumntothe
rightoftheportnumber.Youcansetaporttooneofthreeoperatingsystems;Windows (WIN),
Mac (MAC), and Sun (SUN).Toedittheoperatingsystem,highlightthedesiredportandpress
the [Spacebar] key or double-click on it with the mouse to toggle between the three choices.

KVMswitch,andahighlightbaratthebottomofthescreenaskingifyouwanttodownload
newrmware.Press[Y]toinitiatermwareupgrademode,or[N]tocancel.(SeeFirmware

ADAPTERUPGRADE This setting is the same as the Firmware Upgradesetting,exceptitisusedwhenonly
upgradingthermwaretotheconnectedSIUs.TheFirmware Upgrade setting allows you to
updatermwareforboththeKVMandSIUsatthesametime.
SETLOGINMODE AllowstheadministratortodisabletheKVMspasswordsecurityfeature,nolongerrequiring
ausernameandpasswordtobeenteredtologintotheKVM.Whendisabled,youcannot
logoutoftheKVMswitch,andanyonecanaccesstheOSDasanadministratorsimplyby
performing the [Scroll Lock] [Scroll Lock] activation command. This setting is enabled by
default.
F5:SKP
Thisfunctionallowsyoutoscanthroughportsatyourleisure,andnotatsetintervalslikeinAuto Scan mode. Computers that
are accessible in Skip mode are set up using the Scan/Skip setting in the F3:SET menu. To enter Skip mode via the OSD main
screen,pressthe[F5] key or click on the F5:SKPtextatthetopofthescreenwiththemouse.WheninSkipmode,usethe
following keys to toggle between ports.
•[h] – Press this key to skip directly to the last port in the installation
•[i]–Pressthiskeytoskipdirectlytotherstportintheinstallation
•[g]–Pressthiskeytoskiptothenextport
•[f] – Press this key to skip to the previous port
•Pressthe[Esc] or [Spacebar]keystoexitSkipmodeatthecurrentlyselectedport
F6:BRC
ThisfunctionisavailableonlytotheKVMadministrator,andwillnotbeaccessiblebyusers.WhenBroadcastmodeisin
effect,commandsfromtheconsolearesenttoallavailablecomputersontheinstallation.PortsaffectedbyBroadcastmode
commands are determined by the F2:LIST function. This function is useful for operations that need to be performed on
multiplecomputers,suchasperformingasystem-wideshutdownorinstallingsoftware.
•WhileBroadcastmodeisineffect,aspeakersymbolappearsbeforetheportIDdisplay,andordinarymousefunctionalitywill
be unavailable.
•ToexitBroadcastmode,opentheOSDandpressthe[F6] key or click on the F6:BRC textatthetopofthescreen.

F7:SCAN
Thisfunctionallowsyoutoautomaticallyscanthroughportsatsettimeintervals,sothatyoucanmonitorconnected
computers without having to manually switch between them. To enter Auto ScanmodeviatheOSDmainscreen,pressthe
[F7] key or click on the F7:SCANtextatthetopofthescreenwiththemouse.
•ComputersthatareaccessibleinAuto Scan mode are set up using the Scan/Skip setting in the F3:SET menu.
•TheamountoftimethatAuto Scan mode spends on each port is set using the Scan Duration setting in the F3:SET menu.
•While Auto Scanmodeisineffect,anSiconappearsbeforetheportIDdisplay,theportpush-buttonLEDofthecurrently
selectedportwillash,andnormalkeyboardandmousefunctionalitywillbeunavailable.
•TopauseAuto Scanatthecurrentlyselectedport,pressthe[P]keyorleftclickthemouse.Toresumescanning,pressany
key or left click the mouse.
•Toexit Auto Scanmode,pressthe[Esc] or [Spacebar] keys. Auto Scanwillbeexitedandthecurrentlyselectedportwillbe
displayed.
F8:LOUT
ThisfunctionlogsyououtoftheKVMswitch,requiringausernameandpasswordtobeenteredtoregainaccess.Tologout,
press the [F8] key or click on the F8:LOUTtextatthetopofthescreenwiththemouse.Ahighlightbarwillappearatthe
bottomofthescreen,askingifyouwishtologout.Press[Y] to logout or [N] to cancel and remain logged in. Note: If the Set
Login Mode feature has been disabled, the F8:LOUT function will also be disabled.

Asrmwareupgradesbecomeavailable,theycanbefoundatwww.tripplite.com/support.Asingleupgradelecontainsthe
FirmwareUpgradeUtility,KVMrmwareandSIUrmware.ToupgradethermwareofyourKVMswitchand/orSIUs,follow
thesesteps:
1. FromacomputerthatisnotpartofyourKVMinstallation,gotowww.tripplite.com/supporttoobtainthermwareupgrade
foryourKVMswitch,andsaveittoyourcomputer.
2. Usingthermwareupgradecablethatcamewiththeunit,connectthecablefromtheRJ11rmwareupgradeportonthe
frontoftheswitchtoaDB9Serialportonthecomputeryousavedthermwareto.Note: In a daisy-chain installation,
connect the firmware upgrade cable to the Station 1 KVM. The remaining KVMs will receive the firmware upgrade via the
daisy-chain cables.
3. Invoke Firmware Upgrade ModeviatheFirmware Upgrade setting or the Adapter Upgrade setting in the F4:ADM menu.
(Seepage17fordetails.)Note: The Firmware Upgrade setting allows you to upgrade both the KVM firmware and SIU
firmware. The Adapter Upgrade setting only allows you to upgrade the SIU firmware.
4. Onthecomputerthermwareupgradeleissavedto,runtheFirmware Upgrade Utility lebydouble-clickingonitorby
opening up a command line and typing in the path to it.
5. Afterreadingthelicenseagreement,clickonthe I Agree option and click Next.TheFirmwareUpgradeUtilitymainscreen
appears and the utility searches for and displays all upgradeable devices.
6. If you want the Firmware Upgrade UtilitytochecktheKVMsrmwareversiontoseeifitisolder/newerthanthermware
upgradele,checkthe Check Firmware Versionboxinthelower-leftcornerofthescreen.IfyouwanttheFirmware
Upgrade UtilitytouploadthermwareupgradelewithoutcheckingtheKVMsrmwareversion,leavethisboxunchecked.
Click Next.

7. If the Check Firmware Version boxischecked,andtheFirmwareUpgradeUtilityndstheKVMsrmwareisnewerthan
thatofthermwareupgradele,youwillbepromptedtocontinueorcancel.Oncethermwareupgradestarts,status
messagesappearintheStatusMessagepanelandprogresstowardscompletionisshownintheProgressBar.Whenthe
upgradeiscomplete,theStatusMessagepanelwillinformyouthatthermwareupgradewasok.Atthispoint,click Finish
tocompletethermwareupgrade.Afterasuccessfulrmwareupgrade,theswitchwillresetitself.
Firmware Upgrade Failed
Intheeventofanupgradefailure,theStatus Messagespanelwilldisplayamessagethatsaystheupgradefailed,andadialog
boxwillappearaskingifyouwishtoretrythermwareupgrade.ClickYestoretrythermwareupgrade,orNo to cancel and
proceedtoarmwareupgraderecovery.
Firmware Upgrade Recovery
IfyouareunabletosuccessfullyupgradeyourKVMandSIUrmware,youmaynotbeabletooperatetheKVMswitch.Ifthis
isthecase,followtheprocedurebelowtorecoverfromarmwareupgradefailure.
KVM Firmware Upgrade Recovery
1. SlidethermwareupgraderecoveryswitchonthefrontpaneloftheunittotheRecover position.
2. Power-OFFandrestarttheKVMswitchaccordingtothePoweringOffandRestartingsectiononpage8.
3. ConnecttheincludedrmwareupgradecablefromtheRJ11rmwareupgradeportonthefrontoftheswitchtoaDB9
Serialportonthecomputeryousavedthermwareto.Note: In a daisy-chain installation, connect the firmware upgrade
cable to the Station 1 KVM. The remaining KVMs will receive the firmware upgrade via the daisy-chain cables.
4. Invoke Firmware Upgrade ModeviatheFirmwareUpgradesettinginthe F4:ADM menu.(Seepage17fordetails.)
