PARTS IDENTIFICATION
PRECAUTIONS
Connect to a 13amp socket outlet. Unplug when not in use.
Always keep pan bottom and heating plate clean and dry. Any foreign
matter between them will cause the cooker to malfunction.
NOTE: Always wipe down the outer surface of the inner pan. If the
pan is wet when placed into the cooker it may cause a cracking noise
as the unit heats up.
Do not immerse the cord or base unit in water.
During cooking, the vent on the glass lid will emit steam do not put your
hands or face close to it. Never place any object on the outer lid as this
may obstruct the vent.
Do not touch hot surfaces use oven gloves when removing the lid or inner
pan.
Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near
children or infirm persons.
Unplug from the outlet before cleaning.
Do not operate the appliance when empty.
Switch off and remove the plug from the power outlet before cleaning or
when not in use. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the power outlet.
Never pull the cord. Never carry the appliance by the cord.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the
appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner.
Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot
surfaces.
The use of attachments or accessories that are not recommended or sold
by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
Operate on a level surface. Operating on sinks, drain boards or uneven
surfaces must be avoided.
Do not use any appliance for anything other than its intended use. This
product is intended for household use only.
Caution should be taken when handling this appliance as some surfaces
may be hot during and immediately after cooking.
Do not place any part of this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric
burner or in a heated oven.
Allow to cool before cleaning.
Use only suitable utensils for non-stick surfaces to avoid scratching.
If the supply cord of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by
a qualified electrician.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the appliance. There are no user
serviceable parts.
Do not use ‘WARM’ function to reheat cold rice or other foods.
Do not leave the plastic spoon or measuring cup in the inner pan while on
and in use.
HOW TO USE
1 Measure rice with the measuring cup and wash in a separate bowl.
Be sure to measure out rice precisely with the measuring cup.
Do not wash rice in the pan as this may affect the special coating of the pan.
2 The scale that is marked on the inside of the pan is a guide for the water
level.
To the left of the scale are measurements in litres.
To the right of the scale are measurements in cups.
When adding rice to the rice cooker the same amount of water to rice
must also be added.
For example for four cupfuls of rice, four cups of water most also be
added. When the 4 cupfuls of water and 4 cupfuls of rice are added to
the pan they combined will reach the (cup) 4 marking on the inside of
the pan.
Equal amount of water to rice will result in perfect rice each time!
3 Place the pan in the body
Be sure to wipe dry the outside of the pan, particularly the bottom of it. Then
place the pan into the body, make sure that it comes into close contact with the
heating plate.
4 Place the glass lid on top of the rice cooker.
6 Attach the AC Cord to the cooker and plug in. Ensure the switch is down. The ‘Cook’
light tells you cooking has started.
As soon as cooker is plugged in and switched on the rice will automatically start
cooking
7 When the rice is cooked, the switch will flick upwards. The ‘Warm’ light lights up to
signal the ‘Warm’ function is on.
The ‘Warm’ function continues until unplugged.
8 After cooking has finished, you may leave covered for at least 15 minutes to
steam rice. It may be necessary to leave brown rice for at least 15 minutes as
it takes slightly longer to prepare.
You can, if desired, to remove the lid and stir the rice before leaving on keep
warm as this may stop the rice from burning or sticking to the bottom of the
pan.
9 Scoop and mix rice well.
9 Unplug after use.
HOW TO CLEAN
Unplug before cleaning.
1. Soak inner pan and glass lid in hot water and wash with a sponge.
2. Wipe body with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
3. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scourers or steel wool. Clean with non-
metal brush or sponge.
NON-STICK COATED PAN
Use a sponge to clean.
Use a plastic or wooden rice scoop, not metal utensils as these may damage the
pan surface.
Non-stick coating may discolour after long use, due to water and steam.
This will not affect the non-stick or sanitary properties.
TO KEEP COOKED RICE WARM AND TASTY
Wash rice with water quickly and thoroughly, Bran is removed during washing.
Using ‘Warm’ function for more than 12 hours may cause discolouration or an
objectionable odour in the rice.
Utensils left in the pan during ‘Warm’ function may affect the rice smell and
taste.
RICE AND RECIPES
Use a good quality rice for best results.
Approximate cooking times for 4 cups of rice
Basmati - 15-20mins
Brown - 20-30mins
Long Grain - 15-20mins
Savoury Rice - 15-20mins
Rice Pudding - 15-20mins
Larger quantities may take longer to cook, for example 6 cups of Long Grain rice may
take approximately 20-25mins
PUDDING RICE
50g short grain pudding rice
1pt milk
30ml caster sugar
5ml vanilla essence
1.25ml ground nutmeg
Rinse the rice well in cold water.
Place the rice, sugar, vanilla essence and milk into the rice pan.
Stir together and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Close the lid on the Rice Cooker and turn on, cook until the indicator light goes off and
then leave to stand for 15 minutes with the lid closed.
Open the lid and stir the rice well.
Serves 2
SWEET & AROMATIC RICE
226g pineapple pieces (1 small tin)
1 tbsp sunflower oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 small onion peeled and chopped
½ celery stalk sliced
1tsp ground coriander
1tsp ground cumin
150g button mushrooms, sliced
250g rice
2tbs light soy sauce
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
500ml vegetable stock
30g cashew nuts to garnish
Measure 250g of rice and rinse well, then place the rice into the rice bowl and fill with
500ml vegetable stock. Chop and fry the vegetables with the coriander and cumin,
then add to the rice and add the oil, soy sauce, sugar and salt.
Close the lid on the Rice Cooker and turn on, cook until the indicator light goes off and
then leave to stand for 15 minutes with the lid closed.
Garnish with cashew nuts.
Serves 2
U.K. PLUG WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following
code:
BROWN - LIVE (L)
BLUE - NEUTRAL (N)
GREEN/YELLOW - EARTH (E)
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug,
proceed as follows:
The BLUE wire is the NEUTRAL and must be connected to the terminal
which is marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK
The BROWN wire is the LIVE and must be connected to the terminal that
is marked with the letter L or coloured RED.
The wire which is coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the
terminal which is marked E or coloured GREEN or GREEN/YELLOW.
Always ensure that the cord grip is positioned and securely fastened.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
If a 13A (BS1363) fused plug is used it must be fitted with a 13A fuse. If in
doubt consult a qualified electrician.
