The DIN-Rail mountable ABI-ET2001 is equipped with 4 RJ45 jacks on
the front of the unit. (P1 ~ P4)
Three switches on the front of the unit are used to configure the unit
according to the needs of your installation. Different configuration
scenarios are explained later in this manual.
On the top of the unit you’ll find the connections for the incoming’
phone lines
The switches and the incoming phone line connections are only
accessible when the front of the Comm Center Cabinet is removed.
The unit will probably be configured during installation. Make sure to
take note of the configuration (Connections to the rear ports and switch
settings). At the end of this manual, you will find a table where you can
write down the configuration.
4 Installation and power
No power needed.
Load ratio for this module = 0.
Maximum allowed load ratio (sum of the load ratios for all modules) for
power supply ABI-PS1001S00 = 4.
Click the module on the DIN-Rail as shown in the pictures below:
5 Installation scenarios
The switches on the front of the unit (see Figure 1) )can be placed in
two positions (A and B). A number of combinations is possible, but not
all possible combinations are allowed (depending on the external
connections to ISDN, L1 and L2, and the connected devices to P1 ~
P4)
5.1 One analog (PSTN) phone line
When you have one incoming telephone line (standard PSTN), you
can distribute the signal to 4 locations in parallel.
When a call arrives, all phones will ring at the same time. You can pick-
up any of the four phones to answer the call.
If during a call a second phone is unhooked, this phone will join the
ongoing conversation.
No internal calls between the locations are possible (NO PABX
function).

lines (standard PSTN). These lines can either come directly from your
operator, or from an ISDN to 2 PSTN lines (TA) adapter.

three ports in parallel (P2, P3, P4)
When a call arrives on line L1, all phones on P2 ~P4 will ring at the
same time. You can pick-up any of the three phones connected to that
line to answer the call.
If during a call a second phone is unhooked, this phone will join the

No internal calls between the locations are possible (NO PABX
function).
You can make a phone call from a phone connected to line 1 to a
phone connected to line 2, but this is not a free call, as the call is
processed by your phone company
In this configuration, L2 is usually used for a FAX or a MODEM.

5.4 One phone lines (PSTN) connected to a priority
FAX/Modem
If you have one incoming line L2, and you have a FAX/Modem
connected to that line, you can use the feed-thru feature of that
equipment to disconnect the rest of the phones when a FAX
communication is in progress, or when the phone line is in use by a
Modem. This prevents disruption of the communication when someone
picks-up a phone while the line is in use by those devices. The feed-
thru line becomes L2 in the drawing.
When a call arrives, all phones will ring (including FAX/Modem).
Depending on the configuration of the FAX/Modem, it will answer the
call after a specified number of rings. Anytime between the first ring
and that specific number of rings, you can answer the call by picking
up any of the phones connected to P2 ~ P4.
When the call has been answered by the FAX or Modem, phones
connected to P2 ~P4 (21’) will be disconnected.
