EVAPORATOR COIL
REPLACEMENT GUIDE
The following guide is intended to help identify which coil should be used as
a replacement based on the coil that is currently installed. This guide applies
to both cased and uncased coils, as well as air handler coils.
The REPLCOILs were designed to match with a wide variety of outdoor condenser families. These coils also have
enhanced corrosion protection. The REPLCOIL## is an Anteater
®
copper tube aluminum fin coil. The REPLCOIL##M
is an AnteaterMC
®
Micro Channel coil.
The REPLCOILs all have the same copper stub connections, whether for a residential or manufactured housing
application. When ordering a replacement coil for a C3, C4, or C5, a QA (Quick Connect) or DA (Downturn) connection
kit is available. These kits are needed to be able to re-use the existing lineset connections. If ordering a C6 coil, a TXV
kit must be ordered as well.
The REPLCOILs are piston ready coils. If the coil application requires a piston, the contractor would open the distributor
and install the piston (refer to installation instructions included with the coil). However, if a TXV coil is being replaced, a
TXV tube kit is available to make the TXV line up with the existing lineset connections.
Some outdoor families currently cannot be matched with a Micro Channel indoor coil. The following table will guide
most replacement scenarios:

Please note that if ordering a coil for a system with a two-stage or variable-speed compressor, a Micro Channel coil (C7,
REPLCOIL##M, etc.) cannot be used for the indoor section.
If replacing an indoor coil for a Heat Pump System, the coil construction of the indoor coil must match the coil construction
of the outdoor unit. For example, a copper tube heat pump outdoor coil must have a copper tube indoor coil. A Micro
Channel heat pump outdoor coil must have a Micro Channel indoor coil.
