MegaPower 48 Release 1.06

Installation Guidelines

MegaPower 48 release 1.06 is intended to bring all existing

units in the field up to the same version, regardless of

installation date.

Equipment required

• PC or Laptop (Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT 4.0).

• Medium Philips head screw driver

• Null modem cable

• Female gender changer

• MP-48 setup software

Saving System

Parameters

All data will be lost unless you save the system parameters to

flash memory.

1. On a AD2088/AD2079 Keyboard, turn the key switch to

Program. On a MegaPower Control Center keyboard,

press the Program Mode softkey.

2. Type 55 F2 immediately followed by 140 F2.

3. On an ADTTE Keyboard, make sure the keyboard is

unlocked and type the same commands. Wait

approximately one (1) minute before proceeding.

Installation & Download

1. Move the self-extracting file, MP48V106.exe (P/N 0720-

0310-0100), to a folder on your computer. Double-click on

the file to run it.

2. Remove the MEU (Main Electronic Unit) from the patch

panel, and locate and remove the screws covering the

electronics.

3. Carefully remove the MEU cover.

NOTE: Please use a static strap or ground yourself before

touching any of the MEU’s components.

4. Locate jumper P-24 (Figure-1).

5. Move jumper P-24 from Operate position (Figure-2) to

Program position (Figure-3)

6. Insert the MEU into the patch panel within one (1)

minute. The heartbeat LED on the patch panel will blink

rapidly, indicating MP-48 is ready to receive download

information.

7. Connect the null modem cable from COM 1 on your PC

to the DB-9 connector on the patch panel.

8. Read the Readme.txt file.

9. For 32-bit Windows Operating Systems, run MP48.bat

(for COM1) or MP48COM2.bat (for COM2).

10. For 16-bit Windows Operating Systems, follow the

directions in the Readme.txt file for further instructions.

11. When the download is complete, remove the MEU. Move

the P-24 jumper back to Operate mode (Figure-2) and

replace the cover.

12. Insert the MEU. The heartbeat LED should blink once per

second. Establish communication with the keyboard.

13. Using your keyboard (the key switch must be in Program

for AD2088/2079 keyboards, unlocked for an ADTTE

keyboard), type 70 F2.

14. The Hold display on your monitor changes to v1.06, and

the upgrade is complete.

Restoring System

Parameters

To restore system parameters from flash memory:

1. On an AD2088/AD2079 Keyboard, turn the key switch

to Program. On a MegaPower Control Center keyboard,

press the Program Mode softkey.

2. Type 55 F2 immediately followed by 141 F2.

3. On an ADTTE Keyboard, make sure the keyboard is

unlocked and type the same commands. Wait

approximately one (1) minute for the system parameters

to be restored.
