IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES
WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and
other construction activities contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or
other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are:
• Leadfromlead-basedpaints.
• Crystallinesilicafrombricksandcementandothermasonryproducts.
• Arsenicandchromiumfromchemicallytreatedlumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to
these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks
that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
DANGER: This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and
throwing objects. Failure to observe all safety instructions could result in serious injury or
death.
WARNING: When using electric gardening appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
Read all instructions before using this appliance.
• Avoid dangerous environments - do not use appliances in damp or wet locations.
• Don’t use in rain or in damp conditions.
• Keep children away - all children, bystanders and pets should be kept at least 100 ft. away.
• Dress properly - do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective
clothing; use of work gloves, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and safety footwear is recommended when working
outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
• Use safety glasses - always use face or dust mask if the area in which you are working is dusty.
• Use right appliance - do not use appliance for any job except that for which it is intended.
• Do not force mower - it will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of injury if pushed at the rate for
which it was designed.
• Do not overreach - keep proper footing and balance at all times.
• Do not leave the mower unattended while running or with the safety key installed.
• Keep hands and feet away from cutting area. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.
• Operate the lawn mower only in daylight or good artificial light.
• Stay alert. Use common sense. Do not operate mower when you are tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication.
• When not in use, mower should be stored indoors in dry places out of reach of children.
• Check damaged parts. Before using the mower, make sure the safety guards are intact. Never use a tool
without its safety guard. Check the alignment of the moving parts and the binding of the moving parts.
• Check for broken or defective parts that can affect the safe operation of your mower. A guard or other part
that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated elsewhere
in this manual.
• Stop the motor, wait until the blade comes to a complete stop, and remove the safety key and
battery pack before cleaning the lawn mower, removing the grass bag, or removing the mulching plug.
• Replace blade if it is bent or cracked. An unbalanced blade causes vibration that could damage the motor
drive unit or cause personal injury. Sharpen a dull blade equally at each end to maintain the balance. Clean the blade
thoroughly and check its balance by supporting it horizontally on a thin nail through its center hole. The nail should
be in a horizontal position. If either end of the blade rotates downward, remove some metal from the heavy of lower
end until the blade is balanced. It is balanced when neither end drops.
• Always use safety protective devices. Do not operate the mower without the entire grass catcher, mulching
plug and rear discharge door in place and working properly.
• Clear the work area before each use. Remove all objects such as rocks, sticks, metal, wire, bones, toys, or
other objects which can be thrown by the blade. Stay behind the handle when the motor is running.
4
English
• Avoid holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, property stakes, or other hidden objects. Uneven terrain could
cause a slip and fall accident.
• Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction
on slopes.
• Plan your mowing pattern to avoid discharge of material toward roads, sidewalks,
bystanders and the like. Also, avoid discharging material against a wall or obstruction, which may cause the
material to ricochet back toward the operator.
• Do not mow on wet grass or excessively steep slopes. Poor footing could cause a slip and fall
accident. Walk, never run.
• Slopes are a major factor related to slip-and-fall accidents, which can result in severe injury.
Operation on slopes require extra caution. If you feel uneasy on a slope, do not mow it. If the slope is greater than
15 degrees, do not mow it.
• Do not pull the mower backward unless absolutely necessary. If you must back the mower away
from a wall or obstruction, first look down and behind to avoid tripping or pulling the mower over your feet.
• Never direct discharged material toward anyone. Avoid discharging material against a wall or
obstruction. Material may ricochet back toward the operator. Stop the blade when crossing gravel surfaces.
• If the mower should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor and check immediately for
the cause. Replace the blade if it is unevenly worn or damaged in any way. Vibration is generally a warning of
trouble.
• The grass bag assembly is subject to deterioration and wear and should be checked
each time the mower is used. If replacement is needed, make sure the new grass catcher meets original
manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications.
• Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one
type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
• Use mowers only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.
• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins,
keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting
the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns. (This advice is considered correct for conventional Ni-Mh, Ni-Cd, lead acid and
lithium-ion cell types. If this advice is incorrect for a cell design that differs from these, then the correct advice may
be substituted.)
• Do not use a battery pack that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit
unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
• Do not expose a battery pack to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature
above 40°C or low 0°C may cause explosion.
• Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack outside of the temperature
range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may
damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
• Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.
• Do not modify or attempt to repair the battery pack (as applicable) except as indicated in the
instructions for use and care.
WARNING: This machine produces an electromagnetic field during operation. This
field may under some circumstances interfere with active or passive medical implants. To
reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we recommend persons with medical implants
consult their physician and the medical implant manufacturer before operating this machine.

• Loosen the blade bolt by turning it counterclockwise (as viewed from bottom of mower) using a 27 mm wrench or
socket (not provided).
• Remove the blade bolt and blade.
• Make sure the fan assembly is pushed completely against the motor shaft.
• Place the new blade on the shaft against the fan assembly. Ensure blade is properly seated with shaft going through
center blade hole and the two blade posts inserted into their respective holes on the blade. Make sure it is installed
with the curved ends pointing up toward the mower deck and not down toward the ground. When seated properly,
the blade should be flat against the fan assembly.
• Thread the blade bolt on the shaft and finger tighten.
• Torque the blade bolt clockwise to 36-43 lb. using a torque wrench (not provided) to ensure the bolt is properly
tightened.
STORING THE MOWER (FIG 13)
The following steps should be taken in order to prepare the lawn mower for storage.
• Remove the battery packs and safety key and store in a secure location out of the reach of children.
• Clean the mower as described in the previous section.

SERVICING AND TRANSPORTING THE MOWER
•
When servicing the mower, use only replacement parts that are available from the manufacturer. The use of parts that
do not meet the original equipment specifications may lead to improper performance, and may compromise safety.
• Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, verify that the blade and all moving parts have come to a complete stop.
Remove the battery pack when making any adjustments or when any of the four wheels must be lifted off the ground.
• Follow the instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
• Keep the handles dry, clean, and free of oil and grease.
• Check the blade and motor mounting bolts for proper tightness frequently. Visually inspect blade for damage (e.g.,
bent, cracked, or worn).
• For best and safest performance, maintain the mower with care. Keep the mower blade sharp and clean. Mower
blades are sharp, and can cut. Wrap the blades or wear gloves, and use extra caution when servicing.
• Never tamper with safety devices. Check them regularly for proper operation.
• The grass bag components, discharge cover, and trail shield are subject to wear and damage, which could expose
moving parts or allow objects to be thrown. As a safety precaution, check these components frequently, and
immediately replace any parts that show signs of wear, or that are cracked or broken. Use original equipment
manufacture’s (OEM) parts only, as listed in this manual.
• When it is not in use, store the mower indoors in a dry area, and out of the reach of children.
• Always remove the safety key and battery packs when servicing or transporting the mower.
