LEAKING MAY BE NOTICED FROM SPIGOT OR THE GROUND MAY BE SATURATED
1.Turnthewatersupplyoffanddrainallpressurebyraisingandloweringthehandle.
2.Hydranthandlemustbeintheclosedposition,loosensquaresetscrew.
3.Openhydranthandleapproximately5.5in.or60°fromtheclosedposition.
Tightenthesquaresetscrewandclosehydranthandle.DONOTOVERADJUSToryourisk
damagingthebrassrodorplungeratthebottomofthehydrant.
4.Verifyhydrantisnolongerleaking.
a)Turnwatersupplyon.
b)Raisehydranthandletooperate,thenclosehydrantandallowtodrain.
c)Placeyourhandoverthespigot.Youwillfeelavacuumthatshowsthewaterisdraining.
Ifyoudonotfeelavacuum,thehydrantisstillleaking.Repeatsteps1-4untilleakisno
longerpresent.
Ifthehydrantisstillleakingafterafewadjustments,thehydrantcouldrequireanewplunger.Itis
alsopossiblethattheweepholeisblockedbydirtordebris,preventingdrainage.Thiscanhappen
ifthehydrantisnotburiedingravel.Trytocreatebackpressurebyopeningandclosinghydrant
whilekinkinghosetocleartheblockage.
ADJUSTMENT IF LEAKING WHILE OPEN (HANDLE UP)
LEAKING MAY BE NOTICED AROUND PACKING NUT
1.Withhoseandsprayerattached,raisehandletoopenhydrant.
2.Withacrescentwrench,turnpackingnut1/2turnclockwiseuntilleakstops.
NOTE:Ifhydrantisstillleakingafteradjustmentshavebeenmade,thehydrantcouldrequirenew
O-rings.Donotovertighten,oryoumaydamagetheO-rings.
