IDQ GBM-3CSCA Operating instructions

Type
Operating instructions
Model GBM-3CSCA
CAUTION: Always wear protective gloves and eye wear. R-134a cans are
under pressure.
DO NOT STORE CAN IN VEHICLE - MAY EXPLODE!
Read all warnings and instructions here and on the can before use.
ONLY FOR USE WITH CALIFORNIA-COMPLIANT CANS WITH
SELF-SEALING VALVES.
CHECKING A/C SYSTEM PRESSURE
1. Locate the vehicle’s A/C low-pressure service port and remove the protective cap.
The low-pressure service port is located on the large diameter metal tubing that
runs from the evaporator (inside the dashboard) to the A/C compressor. Visit our
port locator at www.idqusa.com for additional help locating your
low pressure
service port.
2. Start the engine and turn A/C to Max Cool. Keep windows open.
3. With A/C on determine if compressor clutch is engaged (cycled on).
TIP: If the compressor is not cycling on, add ½ can of refrigerant using instruction
below. If the compressor still does not engage repairs may be necessary. If the
compressor is cycled on and the pressure is in the red do not attempt to recharge
seek professional service.
4. Attach the quick-connect fitting to the low pressure port by pulling the connector ring
back as you push the fitting onto the service port.
5. Check gauge pressure when the compressor cycles on. Rotate the blue dial so the
arrow in the middle of the “V” on the lens points to the current ambient (outside)
temperature*. For temperatures over 85°F, point arrow to 85°F. If the pressure is
below the range outlined by the “V”, continue per below CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS.
TIP: YOU CAN ALSO REFER TO CHART FOR CORRECT TEMPERATURE/ PRESSURE
READING.
ADDING REFRIGERANT
1. Shake can well.
2. Screw can into hose assembly and re-connect hose to vehicle.
3. Squeeze the trigger of the charging device to begin charging. Notice the gauge
needle goes to zero to indicate no pressure reading is being taken during charging.
4. While charging, rotate the can between 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock every 2 to 3 seconds
while continually shaking the can back and forth.
5. Every few minutes, release the trigger to check the pressure reading. Notice the
gauge needle shows the A/C system pressure.
6. Continue this process until the can is empty (5 to 15 minutes) or until the correct
pressure is reached according to “CHECKING A/C SYSTEM PRESSURE”. Do not
overcharge the system!
7. When finished, remove the quick connect fitting from the low-pressure service port.
You may either keep the hose and can assembled tightly on can or unscrew the hose
assembly from the can and store separately. In California, return the used can to
place of purchase for recycling.
STORE OR RECYCLE REMAINING CONTENTS
Do Not Discard Remaining Contents!
Keep hose assembly screwed tightly onto the can and store it in a cool dry
place for future use.
Ambient temperature refers
to the outside air temperature
surrounding the vehicle. The
chart shows the desired
range for the low-pressure
side of the A/C system at
each 5º increment. If the
pressure is outside of the
range (over or under), service
may be required.
NOTE: Pressure reading can only be taken when the compressor is cycled on. To
determine this, look at center of the compressor’s pulley, If rotating, it’s on. If it won’t
engage, add a can of R-134a. If compressor still won’t cycle on, seek professional
service.
WARNINGS:
• Keep out of reach of children!
• Do not run vehicle in a closed garage!
• Wear protective gloves and safety goggles!
• It is illegal to vent refrigerant into the atmosphere!
• Before using these products, check all warnings and consult the owner’s vehicle
service manual!
• Do not use on R-12 A/C Systems! All cars 1994 and newer use R-134a.
• IDQ's couplings are designed to exclusively mate with an automobile's R-134a
A/C system low-pressure port only. Do not attempt to modify this product in
order to connect with any other A/C port as this may cause refrigerant cans to
explode.
• Do not store cans in vehicle or expose to temperatures above 120° F! Can
will burst above 120° F!
• Do not puncture or incinerate a can.
FIRST AID:
• If sprayed into eyes or skin, flush with plenty of warm water. Get medical
attention immediately. Product can cause frostbite.
• If swallowed or inhaled see a physician immediately. Inhalation can cause
death without warning.
