With its increased "gain," it allows you to receive signals from a greater distance than a typical "whip" type antenna. It has directional capabilities (like a TV antenna) to optimize reception when pointed at the transmitter, minimizing interference from unwanted signals coming from the back or side of the antenna. The ALP-450 is best placed in a position with a clear view of the transmitter(s) for best results.
