Background:
Nortel is pleased the announce the general availability of a maintenance release for the IP Softphone 2050 for Windows
Mobile (the product formerly known as mvc2050). Maintenance Release 2.04.001 includes support for Windows Mobile
6.1 devices.

Recommendations:
Nortel is no longer recommending specific devices to support the IP Softphone 2050 for Windows Mobile as PDA
processor models, speed, and amount of memory vary. To maintain audio quality, do not overload the processor with
intensive tasks while using the Softphone. For example, Nortel does not recommend using your PDA Internet browser
while using the Softphone.
The following minimum device specifications are required for acceptable client behavior.
- Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC, Windows Mobile 6.0 for PocketPC, Windows Mobile? 6.1 Professional or Windows
Mobile? 6.1 Classic
- Screen resolution size of 240x320
- CPU speed of 416 MHz
- 64 MB RAM
Note that the Smartphone versions of Windows Mobile, including Windows Mobile? 6.1 for Smartphone (for phones
without touchscreens) are NOT SUPPORTED.
Required Actions:
Nortel recommends an upgrade to this maintenance release at the earliest convenience. This maintenance release is not
offered via a download from www.nortel.com/support and must be ordered on a CD with one CD ordered per installed
client. The order code for the CD is in the attached Product Bulletin.
