Northern Industrial POWER BOOSTER can jump start most vehicles and boats without the need for a second vehicle or AC power. It also provides a portable source of 12V DC electric power in remote locations or emergencies. The POWER BOOSTER features an easy-to-read battery meter, a 12V DC cigarette lighter-type socket for appliances, and can be recharged from a 120V AC power source. Its heavy-duty #4 industrial welding cables can carry more amperage than similar units, and its built-in light is useful for roadside vehicle repairs or emergencies away from commercial power.

INTRODUCTION
YOUR POWER BOOSTER IS DESIGNED AS A COMPACT, DURABLE AND PORTABLE JUMP START SYSTEM FOR VE-
HICLES AND BOATS. THIS SELF-CONTAINED SYSTEM WILL START MOST VEHICLES AND BOATS WITHOUT THE NEED
FOR A HOST VEHICLE OR 120V AC POWER SUPPLY. THIS SYSTEM CAN ALSO BE USED AS A SAFE, PORTABLE SOURCE
OF 12V DC ELECTRIC POWER IN REMOTE LOCATIONS AND/OR IN EMERGENCIES.
THE POWER BOOSTER HAS AN EASY-TO-READ, COLOR-CODED BATTERY METER THAT INDICATES CHARGE
LEVEL. A 12V DC CIGARETTE LIGHTER-TYPE SOCKET IS PROVIDED FOR USE WITH APPLIANCES THAT WOULD OPER-
ATE FROM A VEHICLE CIGARETTE LIGHTER. THIS ALLOWS MAXIMUM PORTABILITY AND UTILITY WHEN YOUR POWER
BOOSTER IS USED IN REMOTE LOCATIONS.
FOR MAXIMUM CONVENIENCE, YOUR POWER BOOSTER CAN BE RECHARGED FROM A 120V AC POWER
SOURCE. THE BUILT-IN 850 mA, LISTED RECHARGER/CONVERTER HAS AN AUTOMATIC CUT-OFF THAT PRE-
VENTS OVER CHARGING THE BATTERY. A SQUARE, GREEN, PUSH-TO-ACTIVATE/PUSH-TO-RELEASE SWITCH
OPERATES THE BUILT-IN LAMP. WHEN DEPRESSED, THE ROUND, RED PUSH-BUTTON SWITCH SHOWS THE
BATTERY CONDITION ON THE METER. A COVERED CIGARETTE LIGHTER TYPE 12V DC SOCKET IS PROVIDED,
AS WELL AS A COVERED RECEPTACLE FOR A 120V AC POWER RECHARGING CORD. THE RED LIGHT EMIT-
TING DIODE (LED) ILLUMINATES WHEN THIS SYSTEM IS RECHARGING .
NOTE: ON/OFF SWITCH ONLY CONTROLS POWER TO THE 2 BATTERY CLAMPS. WE SUGGEST YOU KEEP

3. 2 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE:
PROBLEM: LACK OF POWER OUTPUT
POSSIBLE CAUSES SUGGESTED SOLUTION
INVERTER NOT ADEQUATELY WARMED UP. TURN INVERTER POWER SWITCH OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN.
REPEAT IF NECESSARY.
AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEM REQUIRES IGNITION TO BE ON. TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO ACCESSORY POSITION.
BATTERY VOLTAGE BELOW 10 VOLTS. RECHARGE OR REPLACE BATTERY.
INVERTER IN THERMAL SHUTDOWN CONDITION. ALLOW INVERTER TO COOL DOWN. ENSURE THERE IS
ADEQUATE VENTILATION AROUND UNIT. ENSURE THAT LOAD
IS NO MORE THAN 300 WATTS FOR CONTINUOUS OPERATION.
PROBLEM: LOW OUTPUT VOLTAGE
POSSIBLE CAUSES SUGGESTED SOLUTION
USING AVERAGE READING VOLTMETER USE TRUE RMS READING METER.
INVERTER IS OVERLOADED REDUCE LOAD TO 300 WATTS MAXIMUM TO MAINTAIN
REGULATION.
INPUT VOLTAGE BELOW 10.5 VOLTS KEEP INPUT VOLTAGE ABOVE 10.5 VOLTS TO MAINTAIN
REGULATION.

ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN WORKING ON OR AROUND LEAD-ACID BATTERIES.
IF SPLASHED WITH BATTERY ACID:
IMMEDIATELY WASH EFFECTED AREA SUCH AS FACE AND PARTICULARLY THE EYES WITH
CLEAN WATER. CONTINUE WASHING AREA, FACE AND EYES UNTIL MEDICAL HELP ARRIVES.
CAUTIONS
1. TO AVOID POSSIBLE DAMAGE THAT MAY SHORTEN THE UNIT'S WORKING LIFE, PROTECT
THIS UNIT FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT, DIRECT HEAT, AND /OR MOISTURE.
2. THIS SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO BE USED ONLY ON VEHICLES OR BOATS WITH 12-VOLT
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS.
3. THIS SYSTEM IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE USED AS A REPLACEMENT FOR A
VEHICULAR BATTERY .
WARNING
LEAD-ACID BATTERIES GENERATE HYDROGEN GAS DURING NORMAL OPERATION. MORE
GAS IS GENERATED WHEN THE BATTERY IS CHARGING. HYDROGEN GAS IS:
1. EXPLOSIVE
2. POISONOUS TO BREATHE
3. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE
TO AVOID AN EXPLOSION AND/OR THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING SPLASHED WITH BATTERY ACID:
NEVER ALLOW THE RED AND BLACK CLAMPS TO TOUCH EACH OTHER NOR TO BOTH
TOUCH THE SAME METAL OBJECT.
ONLY ATTEMPT TO JUMP START A VEHICLE OR BOAT IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA.

ALWAYS CONNECT THE RED(+) CLAMP TO THE POSITIVE (+) BATTERY TERMINAL FIRST .
DO NOT CONNECT THE BLACK(-) CLAMP TO THE NEGATIVE (-) BATTERY TERMINAL.
DO CONNECT THE BLACK (-) CLAMP TO A NON-MOVING METAL PART ON THE ENGINE.

ALWAYS SUFFICIENT BATTERY CAPACITY TO START THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE.
THE INVERTER MAY BE USED WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS RUNNING. HOWEVER, THE
INVERTER MAY BE NOT OPERATE WHILE THE ENGINE IS STARTING SINCE THE BATTERY VOLTAGE CAN
DROP SUBSTANTIALLY DURING CRANKING.
IN MOST INSTANCES, THE POWER INVERTER CAN BE LEFT CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY WHEN NOT IN USE
SINCE IT DRAWS SO LITTLE CURRENT. HOWEVER, IF THE VEHICLE IS TO REMAIN UNUSED FOR SEVERAL
DAYS, DISCONNECT THE POWER INVERTER FROM THE BATTERY.
3. TROUBLE SHOOTING
3. 1 PROTECTIVE FEATURES OF THE POWER INVERTER
YOUR POWER INVERTER MONITORS THE FOLLOWING POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE
- THIS CONDITION IS NOT HARMFUL TO THE INVERTER BUT COULD DAMAGE THE POWER SOURCE. AN AU-
DIBLE ALARM WILL SOUND WHEN INPUT VOLTAGE DROPS TO 10.5. THE POWER INVERTER AUTOMATICALLY
SHUTS DOWN AFTER 30 SECONDS. WHEN THE CONDITION IS CORRECTED, THE UNIT WILL BE RESTARTED.
- THE POWER INVERTER AUTOMATICALLY AND INSTANTLY SHUTS DOWN WHEN INPUT VOLTAGE DROPS TO
8.5V. WHEN THE CONDITION IS CORRECTED, AFTER 30 SECONDS, THE UNIT WILL BE RESTARTED.
INPUT SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION
- WHEN THE INVERTER IS CONNECTED TO THE INCORRECT POLARITY OR IS IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CONDITION,
THE POWER INVERTER AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS DOWN. WHEN THE CONDITION IS CORRECTED, THE UNIT
WILL BE RESTARTED.
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
- THE INVERTER WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN WHEN THE CONTINUOUS DRAW EXCEEDS 300 WATTS.
OVER TEMPERATURE PROTECTION
- WHEN THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSIDE THE POWER INVERTER REACHES 130
O
F, THE UNIT WILL AUTO-
MATICALLY SHUT DOWN. ALLOW THE UNIT TO COOL FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING
AFTER A HEAT-RELATED SHUTDOWN. UNPLUG UNIT WHILE COOLING.
CAUTION: LOW BATTERY ALARM & OVER TEMPERATURE ALARM
AN ALARM WILL SOUND WHEN THE VOLTAGE FROM THE BATTERY DROPS TO 10.5VOLTS. THIS IS AN INDICATION
THAT THE BATTERY NEEDS TO BE RECHARGED. THE USER SHOULD STOP OPERATION OF THE ELECTRONIC
DEVICE AT THIS TIME SINCE THE INVERTER WILL SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY 30 SECONDS THEREAFTER,
WHEN THE BATTERY VOLTAGE DROPS TO 10 VOLTS.
AN ALARM WILL SOUND WHEN THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSIDE THE POWER INVERTER REACHES 130

F.
THE USER SHOULD ALLOW THE INVERTER TO COOL FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR NEW POWER BOOSTER:
RECHARGING
1. FOR MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOUR POWER BOOSTER BE KEPT FULLY CHARGED
AT ALL TIMES. IF THE BATTERY IS ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN A DISCHARGED STATE, BATTERY LIFE MAY BE
SHORTENED. TABLE I SHOWS THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE FREQUENCY OF USE BETWEEN RECHARGING
AND THE EXPECTED NUMBER OF CHARGE/RECHARGE CYCLES.

IS A FUNCTION OF HOW MANY JUMP-STARTS ARE PERFORMED BETWEEN RECHARGING SESSIONS.

3. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CHECK THE CHARGE IN YOUR POWER BOOSTER BY DEPRESSING THE RED
PUSH-BUTTON SWITCH. THE METER WILL SHOW THE BATTERY CHARGE.
120V AC CHARGING :
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU PLUG THE 120V AC POWER CORD INTO AN OUTLET AND INTO THE RECEPTACLE
ON YOUR NEW POWER BOOSTER. CHARGE THIS DEVICE FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS OR UNTIL THE METER
SHOWS A FULL (14-TO 15-V DC) CHARGE WHEN THE RED PUSH-BUTTON SWITCH IS DEPRESSED. THE
RECHARGING CONVERTER CIRCUIT IN YOUR POWER BOOSTER HAS AN AUTOMATIC CUT-OFF CIRCUIT SO
THE INTERNAL BATTERY CANNOT BE OVER-CHARGED. TO RECHARGE YOUR POWER BOOSTER BATTERY
FROM 120V AC FOLLOW THESE STEPS :

MAJORITY OF BATTERY-OPERATED EQUIPMENT. MOST OF THESE DEVICES USE A SEPARATE CHARGER OR
TRANSFORMER THAT IS PLUGGED INTO ON AC RECEPTACLE. THE POWER INVERTER IS EASILY CAPABLE OF
RUNNING MOST CHARGERS AND TRANSFORMERS.
1.3 PLACEMENT OF THE POWER INVERTER
FOR BEST OPERATING RESULTS, THE INVERTER SHOULD BE PLACED ON A FLAT SURFACE, SUCH AS VEHICLE
SEAT OR FLOOR. A POWER CORD MEASURING 5 FEET HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR EASY POSITIONING OF THE
INVERTER . POWER INVERTER SHOULD ONLY BE USED IN LOCATIONS THAT MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
DRY - DO NOT ALLOW WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE POWER INVERTER.

LIGHT, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
VENTILATED - KEEP THE AREA SURROUNDING THE POWER INVERTER CLEAR TO ENSURE FREE AIR CIRCU-
LATION AROUND THE UNIT. DO NOT PLACE ITEMS ON OR OVER THE INVERTER DURING OPERATION. A FAN IS
HELPFUL IF THE INVERTER IS OPERATING AT MAXIMUM POWER OUTPUTS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
SAFE - DO NOT USE THE POWER INVERTER NEAR FLAMMABLE MATERIALS OR IN ANY LOCATIONS THAT MAY
ACCUMULATE FLAMMABLE FUMES OR GASES.
2. OPERATING TIPS
2.1 RATED VERSUS ACTUAL CURRENT DRAW OF EQUIPMENT
RESISTIVE LOADS ARE THE EASIEST FOR THE POWER INVERTER TO RUN; HOWEVER, LARGER RESISTIVE
LOADS, SUCH AS ELECTRIC STOVES OR HEATERS , USUALLY REQUIRE MORE WATTAGE THAN THE POWER
INVERTER CAN DELIVER ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS. INDUCTIVE LOADS, SUCH AS TV'S AND STEREOS, RE-
QUIRE MORE CURRENT TO OPERATE THAN DO RESISTIVE LOADS OF THE SAME WATTAGE RATING. INDUC-
TION MOTORS, AS WELL AS SOME TELEVISIONS, MAY REQUIRE 2 TO 6 TIMES THEIR WATTAGE RATING TO
START UP. THE MOST DEMANDING IN THIS CATEGORY ARE THOSE THAT START UNDER LOAD, SUCH AS
COMPRESSORS AND PUMPS. TESTING IS THE ONLY DEFINITIVE WAY TO DETERMINE WHETHER A SPECIFIC
LOAD CAN BE STARTED AND HOW LONG IT CAN RUN. THE UNIT WILL SIMPLY SHUT DOWN IF IT IS OVERLOADED.
TO RESTART THE UNIT AFTER A SHUTDOWN DUE TO OVERLOADING, MOMENTARILY TURN OFF THE POWER
TO THE UNIT.
THE POWER INVERTER WILL NOT OPERATE APPLIANCES AND EQUIPMENT THAT PRODUCE HEAT, SUCH AS
HAIR DRYERS, MICROWAVE OVENS, AND TOASTERS.
2.2 BATTERY OPERATING TIME
WITH A TYPICAL VEHICLE BATTERY, A MINIMUM OPERATING TIME OF 2 TO 3 HOURS CAN BE EXPECTED. IN
MOST INSTANCES, 5 TO 10 HOURS OF OPERATING TIME IS ACHIEVABLE. HOWEVER, IT'S BETTER FOR THE
OPERATOR TO START THE VEHICLE EVERY 2 TO 3 HOURS TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY SYSTEM. THIS WILL
GUARD AGAINST ANY UNEXPECTED SHUT-DOWNS OF THE EQUIPMENT AND WILL ENSURE THAT THERE IS

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT- 300W POWER INVERTER
THE POWER INVERTER EASILY ATTACHES TO THE REAR OF THE POWER BOOST AND JUST AS EASILY
DETACHES FROM IT.
1. HOW YOUR 300W POWER INVERTER WORKS
THE POWER INVERTER IS AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE THAT CONVERTS LOW VOLTAGE DC (DIRECT CURRENT)
ELECTRICITY FROM A BATTERY OR OTHER POWER SOURCE TO STANDARD 110VOLT AC (ALTERNATING
CURRENT) HOUSEHOLD POWER.
CAUTION:THE POWER INVERTER MUST BE CONNECTED ONLY TO BATTERIES WITH A NOMINAL OUTPUT
VOLTAGE OF 12 VOLTS. THE UNIT WILL NOT OPERATE FROM A 6 VOLT BATTERY AND WILL SUSTAIN
PERMANENT DAMAGE IF CONNECTED TO A 24 VOLT BATTERY.
1.1 CONNECTING TO POWER SOURCE
THE POWER INVERTER COMES EQUIPPED WITH A CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG FOR CONNECTING TO THE
POWER SOURCE. THE TIP OF THE PLUG IS POSITIVE AND THE SIDE CONTACT IS NEGATIVE. CONNECT THE
POWER INVERTER TO THE POWER SOURCE BY INSERTING THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG FIRMLY INTO
THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET OF A VEHICLE OR THE POWER BOOST.
CAUTION:
- REVERSE POLARITY CONNECTION WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE INVERTER.

1.2 CONNECTION TO LOAD
CONNECT THE POWER INVERTER TO THE POWER BOOST 12 VOLT DC OUTPUT SOCKET OR THE VEHICLE'S
CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET USING THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG PROVIDED. THE POWER INVERTER IS
EQUIPPED WITH A STANDARD AC HOUSEHOLD-TYPE RECEPTACLE. PLUG THE CORD FROM THE EQUIPMENT
YOU WISH TO OPERATE INTO THE AC RECEPTACLE. THE GREEN LED INDICATOR WILL ILLUMINATE TO INDICATE
THE UNIT IS FUNCTIONING. MAKE SURE THE LOAD REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR EQUIPMENT ARE WITHIN THE
PARAMETERS OF THE POWER INVERTER OUTPUT. IF SO, TURN ON YOUR EQUIPMENT.
DO NOT CONNECT TO AC DISTRIBUTION WIRING: THE POWER INVERTER IS ENGINEERED TO BE CONNECTED
DIRECTLY TO STANDARD ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED ABOVE.
DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER INVERTER TO HOUSEHOLD OR RV AC DISTRIBUTION WIRING. DO NOT CONNECT
THE POWER INVERTER TO ANY AC LOAD CIRCUIT IN WHICH THE NEUTRAL CONDUCTOR IS CONNECTED TO
GROUND (EARTH) OR TO THE NEGATIVE OF THE DC (BATTERY) SOURCE.
CAUTION: RECHARGEABLE APPLIANCES
CERTAIN RECHARGEABLE DEVICES ARE DESIGNED TO BE RECHARGED BY PLUGGING THEM DIRECTLY INTO
AN AC RECEPTACLE. THESE DEVICES MAY DAMAGE THE POWER INVERTER. WHEN FIRST USING A
RECHARGEABLE DEVICE, MONITOR ITS TEMPERATURE FOR THE INITIAL TEN MINUTES OF USE TO DETER-
MINE WHETHER IT EMITS EXCESSIVE HEAT. IF EXCESSIVE HEAT IS DETECTED, IT IS A GOOD INDICATION
THAT THE DEVICE SHOULD NOT BE USED WITH THIS INVERTER. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR WITH THE
2 . GENTLY PULL THIS PLUG OUT EXPOSING THE TWO (2) RECTANGU-
LAR PRONGS OF A STANDARD 120V AC POWER CORD. A RESTRAINT
KEEPS THE PLUG FROM GETTING LOST. THE PLUG IS IMPORTANT
TO MAINTAIN THE WEATHER-RESISTANT INTEGRITY OF YOUR
POWER BOOSTER.
3. ONE OF THE POWER CORDS FURNISHED WITH YOUR
POWER
BOOSTER
HAS A STANDARD 120V AC TWO (2) PRONG PLUG AT ONE
END, A 4-FOOT CORD AND A RECTANGULAR TWO (2) PRONG RE-
CEPTACLE AT THE OTHER END.
4. PLUG THIS POWER CORD INTO THE SOCKET AT THE FRONT OF THE
UNIT, THEN THE CHARGER IN TO THE MAIN SUPPLY AND SWITCH ON.
THE RED LED WILL ILLUMINATE TO DENOTE CHARGING IS IN PROGRESS.
5. PRESSING THE 'TEST' BUTTON WILL INDICATE THE LEVEL OF CHARGE.
A BUILT-IN SAFETY DEVICE PREVENTS OVERCHARGING.
6. CONTINUE TO CHARGE UNTIL THE CHARGING LIGHT GOES OUT, OR
THE VOLTMETER REGISTERS 14V OR MORE WHEN THE TEST BUT-
TON IS PRESSED.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT STOP CHARGING BEFORE THE METER REGISTERS 14V.
AT THIS POINT, ONCE THE CHARGER IS DISCONNECTED, THE VOLTAGE WILL SLOWLY SETTLE BACK TO
READ 100%. THIS IS QUITE NORMAL AND INDICATES THAT THE BATTERY IS AT FULL CAPACITY.
NOTE: WHEN THE LED GOES OUT, CHARGING WILL AUTOMATICALLY STOP, INDICATING THAT THE BATTERY
IS AT MAXIMUM CAPACITY, AND THE VOLTAGE WILL THEN SLOWLY DROP BACK TO READ 100%, AS ABOVE.
TO FULLY CHARGE BATTERY COULD TAKE UP TO 72 HOURS, DEPENDING UPON THE STATE OF DISCHARGE.
12V DC CHARGING
YOUR NEW
POWER BOOSTER
IS EQUIPPED WITH A RECEPTACLE (SEE FIGURE 1.) THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO
RE-CHARGE THIS SYSTEM FROM THE 12V DC CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET IN YOUR VEHICLE OR BOAT.
THIS RECHARGING METHOD WILL NOT RECHARGE THE SYSTEM TO THE SAME 13.5V DC VOLTAGE LEVEL AS
WILL PLUGGING IT INTO A 120V AC OUTLET.
1. LOOKING AT YOUR POWER BOOSTER UNIT'S LEFT SIDE, IDENTIFY
THE SQUARE PLUG WITH THE ''T'' HANDLE EXTENDING OUT ABOUT
0.5-INCHES. SEE FIGURE 2.

TO USE THE 12V DC RECHARGING SYSTEM :

2. INSERT THE PLUG AT THE OTHER END OF THIS POWER CORD INTO THE RECEPTACLE ON THE FRONT

OPERATION
TO USE YOUR POWER BOOSTER AS A 12V DC POWER SOURCE:
1. LIFT UP THE COVER OF THE 12V DC CIGARETTE LIGHTER RECEPTACLE (SEE FIG. I.).
2. INSERT THE 12V DC CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG FROM THE APPLIANCE INTO THE 12V DC
CIGARETTE LIGHTER RECEPTACLE.
Note: ON/OFF SWITCH CAN BE LEFT IN "OFF" POSITION.

1. UNSCREW AND REMOVE THE EIGHT (8) ''PHILLIPS'' (CROSS-HEAD) SCREWS THAT HOLD THE 8.25-INCH
(20.8- CENTIMETER) WIDE BY 10.75-INCH (27.8-CENTIMETERS) HIGH RECTANGULAR COVER PLATE IN
PLACE ON THE BACK OF YOUR POWER BOOSTER.
2. LIFT OFF THE COVER PLATE TO EXPOSE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT.
3. UNSCREW THE TWO (2) ''PHILLIPS" (CROSS-HEAD) SCREWS THAT HOLD THE BATTERY RETAINING
BRACKET (AT THE TOP OF THE BATTERY) AND REMOVE.
4. LIFT THE BATTERY OUT OF THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT.
5. DETACH THE #4 JUMPER CABLES AND THE RED AND BLACK RECHARGING WIRES FROM THE
BATTERY TERMINALS .
6. ENSURE THAT THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY IS ORIENTED WITH THE LABEL OUT.
7. ENSURE THAT THE RED #4 JUMPER CABLE AND RED RECHARGING WIRE ARE ATTACHED TO THE
POSITIVE (+) BATTERY TERMINAL (ALSO MARKED WITH RED). ATTACH THE #4 JUMPER CABLES
AND THE RECHARGING WIRES TO THE BATTERY TERMINALS.
8. TAKING CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE CIRCUIT BOARD, SLIDE THE NEW BATTERY IN POSITION.
9. RE-INSTALL THE BATTERY HOLD-DOWN BRACKET WITH THE TWO (2) ''PHILLIPS" (CROSS-HEAD)
SCREWS.
10. REPLACE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER AND SECURE IN PLACE WITH THE EIGHT (8)
''PHILLIPS'' (CROSS- HEAD) SCREWS.
BATTERY DISPOSAL:
THE LEAD ACID BATTERY CONTAINED IN THE POWER BOOSTER JUMP START SYSTEM SHOULD BE RE-
CYCLED ONCE IT HAS EXPIRED. SOME STATES REQUIRE RECYCLING. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL
SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY FOR RECYCLING INFORMATION.
WARNING:
DO NOT DISPOSE OF THE BATTERY IN FIRE AS THIS MAY RESULT IN AN EXPLOSION.
WARNING: BEFORE DISPOSING OF THE BATTERY, PROTECT EXPOSED TERMINALS WITH HEAVY-DUTY
ELECTRICAL TAPE TO PREVENT SHORTING (SHORTING CAN RESULT IN INJURY OR FIRE). DO NOT EX-
POSE BATTERY TO FIRE OR INTENSE HEAT AS IT MAY EXPLODE.
CAUTIONS

JUMPER CABLES AND ARE NOT SWITCHED.
JUMP-STARTING:
FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE, WHEN USING YOUR POWER BOOSTER TO JUMP START A VEHICLE OR
BOAT, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THESE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. SWITCH THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE OR BOAT TO BE JUMP-STARTED TO
"OFF".
2. CONNECT THE RED (+) ''ALLIGATOR" CLAMP TO THE RED (+) POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL.
3. CONNECT THE BLACK (-) ''ALLIGATOR" CLAMP TO A NON-MOVING METAL PART OF THE ENGINE,
NOT TO THE (-)
NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL.
4. TURN POWER BOOSTER SWITCH TO "ON".
5. SWITCH THE VEHICLE OR BOAT IGNITION TO ''ON'`.
6. WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO.
7. SWITCH THE VEHICLE OR BOAT IGNITION TO ''START'' FOR NO MORE THAN 5 TO 6 SECONDS.
8. IF THE VEHICLE OR BOAT ENGINE DOES NOT START, WAIT AT LEAST 3 MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN .
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW THE RED AND BLACK CLAMPS TO TOUCH EACH
OTHER OR A COMMON CONDUCTOR
1. ONCE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, DISCONNECT THE BLACK (-) CLAMP FIRST AND RETURN THIS CABLE TO
ITS STORED POSITION ON THE POWER BOOSTER.
2. DISCONNECT THE RED (+) CLAMP AND RETURN THIS CABLE TO ITS STORED POSITION ON THE POWER
BOOSTER.
3. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, CONNECT YOUR POWER BOOSTER SYSTEM TO 120-VAC AND RECHARGE.

Northern Industrial POWER BOOSTER can jump start most vehicles and boats without the need for a second vehicle or AC power.
