1 Important Information about your Instrument
Read and follow the User Manual on the accompanying Leica USB documentation
card before using the product or the accessories delivered with the product.
To ensure safety when using the system, please also observe the directions and
instructions in the User Manual and Safety Handbook issued by the machine,
robot or sensor manufacturer.
Keep for future reference!
Usage as accessory to the Leica Absolute Tracker.
Digitising of surfaces and character lines.
Transmission of coordinates between the Absolute Tracker and the TScan
for inspection and build measurements.
The following advice is only valid for the AC power supply.
Intended use

WARNING
The product is not designed for use under wet and severe conditions. If unit
becomes wet it may cause you to receive an electric shock.
Precautions:
Use the product only in dry environments, for example in buildings or vehi-
cles. Protect the product against humidity. If the product becomes humid, it
must not be used!
The following advice is only valid for the AC power supply.

If unit is not connected to ground, death or serious injury can occur.
Precautions:
To avoid electric shock power cable and power outlet must be grounded.
The TScan sensor contains the following types of LEDs:

From a safety perspective, class 2 laser products are not inherently safe for the

Avoid staring into the beam.

Component Description
TScan sensor Used to measure clouds of points. The TScan sensor
can be operated as a handheld scanner or can be moun-
ted onto a robot or machine.
TScan controller Controls scan frequencies. Records and synchronises
measurement data.

Acoustical status information
To inform about the current measurement status of the sensor, the TScan can
give an acoustical status information. For example, the following status informa-
tion is indicated by different acoustic signals:

TScan system is ready to measure.
Red Static Laser Tracker beam is not locked onto TScan.
TScan system is not ready to measure.
Yellow Static Communication to Laser Tracker is established.
TScan measurement is in process.
Green Blinking Communication to Laser Tracker is established.
TScan is in sleep mode.

The TScan controller is the control unit for the TScan sensor. This device controls
the scan frequencies, records the measurement data and synchronises the scan
data with the 6DOF measurements of the Absolute Tracker.

Carry the product in its original container or attached to the Measurement
Cart, to protect the product against shock and vibration.
Periodically carry out test measurements and perform the field adjustments
indicated in the User Manual, particularly after the product has been drop-
ped, stored for long periods or transported.
