General information
Reading and safekeeping of operating instructions
These operating instructions are for the wine cooler MD 16703. They contain
important information about set-up and operation.
Read the operating instructions carefully, in particular the safety
instructions, before you use the wine cooler. Non-compliance with these
operating instructions can lead to serious injury or damage to the wine cooler.
Please retain these operating instructions for future reference. If you pass on the wine
cooler to a third party, please also pass on these operating instructions.
Explanation of symbols
The following symbols and signal words are used in these instructions, on the wine
cooler or on the packaging.
DANGER!
This signal word indicates a hazard with a high degree of risk which, if not avoided,
will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING!
This signal word indicates a hazard with a medium level of risk which, if not avoided,
could lead to death or serious injury.
CAUTION!
This signal word indicates a hazard with a low level of risk which, if not avoided, could
result in a minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE!
This signal word warns of possible damage to property.

General information

Warning: risk of explosion.
This symbol gives you useful additional information on assembly or
operation.
Conformity marking (cf. section „Konformitätsinformation“):
products bearing this symbol meet all the regulations and standards
applicable in the European Economic Area.
Intended use
The appliance is designed for cooling drinks in closed containers.
However, the appliance is not suitable for cooling foodstuffs
because it cannot achieve the required temperatures.
The appliance is designed for operation in an ambient
temperature of between +16°C and +32°C (living area
temperature) (climate class N) and is only suitable for operation
indoors.
This appliance is intended to be used in private households and
similar household applications, such as:
in kitchens for employees in shops, offi ces and other
commercial areas;
on agricultural estates;
by customers in hotels, motels and other residential
facilities;
in bed & breakfast accommodation.
When used in commercial areas, the valid regulations must be
observed.
Please note that we shall not be liable in cases of improper use:
Do not modify the appliance without our consent and do not
use any auxiliary equipment that we have not approved or
supplied.
Intended use

Use only spare parts and accessories that we have supplied or
approved.
Heed all the information in these operating instructions,
especially the safety information. Any other use is deemed
improper and can cause personal injury or property damage.
Do not use the appliance in extreme environmental conditions.
Safety information
WARNING!
Risk of injury for children or persons with limited physical,
sensory or mental capabilities (for example partially disabled
people or older persons with limited physical and mental
capabilities) or no knowledge and experience (older children,
for example).
Keep the appliance and its accessories out of the reach of
children.
This appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 and
by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities
or by those without experience and/or knowledge, if they
are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the
appliance and have understood the dangers that result from
it. Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by
children, unless they are aged 8 or over and are supervised.
Children younger than 8 should be kept away from the
appliance and the mains cable.

There is a risk of suffocation if plastic packaging or small parts are
inhaled or swallowed.

Do not store any of the packaging material used (bags,
polystyrene, etc.) within the reach of children.
General safety instructions
Do not operate the appliance if it has been visibly damaged or
the mains cable or plug is defective.

Risk of explosion!
There is a RISK OF EXPLOSION AND FIRE due to the
resulting fumes!
Do not store or use any petrol or other fl ammable materials or
liquids in the appliance or near to the appliance.
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
Burns caused by low temperatures are possible.
Do not touch the cold inner walls of the refrigerator compart-
ment with your hands.
Setting up the appliance
Only connect the appliance to a properly installed 220–
240V~50Hz safety socket that is easy to reach and close to the
set-up location. The safety socket must be freely accessible so
that you can unplug the appliance from the mains quickly if
necessary.
Do not use an extension cable.
Ensure the mains cable is out of harm’s way and will not trip
people up. Do not allow the mains cable to become trapped or
squashed.
To ensure adequate ventilation, maintain a minimum distance of
10cm to the ceiling and rear wall and 5cm to the walls, otherwise
internal electronics could be damaged.

Set up the appliance in a dry and ventilated room. Do not
expose the appliance to direct sunlight because this can
damage the surfaces of the appliance and increase energy
consumption.
Protect the appliance from moisture and splashes.
Never immerse the appliance in water.
Do not set up the appliance near to heat sources such as ovens,
radiators, underfl oor heating, etc.
Set up the appliance on a stable, fl at surface.
The appliance should be level; compensate for any unevenness
in the fl oor by unscrewing and adjusting the extendible feet

Do not place any other household appliances (such as a
microwave, food processor, etc.) on top of the wine cooler.
Do not use any electrical devices inside the appliance.
Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
There is a risk of electric shock due to live parts.
Before starting any maintenance work, always ensure that
the plug has been removed from the safety socket (do not pull
on the cable, but on the plug). If the plug is not accessible,
the corresponding fuse for the mains electricity supply to the
house needs to be switched off.
Never pull out the plug with wet or moist hands.

Do not use any fl ammable liquids to clean the appliance or any
parts of the appliance.
Faults
WARNING!

There is a risk of electric shock due to live parts.
Never try to open and/or repair an appliance component
yourself. There is a risk of electric shock.
To prevent risks, damaged mains cables may only be replaced
by a qualifi ed specialist workshop or by our technical customer
service.
In the event of a fault, contact our Service Centre or another
suitable specialist workshop.
Disposal

Risk of injury!
There is a risk of suffocation if the door slams shut.
Remove the door before disposing of the appliance and leave
the storage shelves for the bottles in the appliance to prevent
children climbing into it.
Before disposal cut off the mains cable.

Preparing to operate the appliance
Before using the appliance for the fi rst time, completely remove any packaging
from the appliance and the inside of the appliance.
Compensate for any possible unevenness in the fl oor by unscrewing or screwing
in the extendible feet

Clean the inside of the appliance with warm water and a soft cloth.
Make sure that the storage shelves for the bottles

are correctly inserted into
the guide tracks. If necessary, insert the shelves again correctly.
Operating the appliance
Connect the appliance to a properly installed 220-240V~50 Hz safety socket.
The appliance will beep and the display

will show the current temperature inside
the appliance. The appliance will now start to cool the interior.
Place bottles onto the storage shelves

as evenly as possible.
The temperature at the bottom storage shelf is a little cooler than at the top
storage shelf. Therefore, place those bottles that need to be cooled to a
greater degree on the lowest storage shelf.
A signal tone is emitted every time a button is pressed.

Temperature control
Set the desired temperature (it is possible to set the temperature to between 7 °C
and 18 °C).

The set temperature will fl ash briefl y on the display and then the current temperature
inside the appliance will be shown.

Leaving the light switched on for a long time will increase the temperature
inside the appliance. Switch the light off immediately when it is no longer
required.
Cleaning
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock.
There is a risk of electric shock from electrifi ed parts.
Before cleaning the appliance, always ensure that the plug has
been removed from the safety socket (do not pull on the cable,
but on the plug).
1. Remove all bottles and storage shelves

from the inside of the appliance.
2. Clean the surfaces of the appliance and the storage shelves for the bottles, with
the exception of the door seal

, with a mild detergent and a soft cloth.
3. Wipe down the door seal with clean water and allow it to dry. Abrasive or acidic
cleaning agents are unsuitable for cleaning the appliance.
4. Clean the inside of the appliance with warm water and bicarbonate of soda. We
recommend using 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda to one litre of water.
5. Wipe out the collection tray at the bottom of the appliance and clean it with water
and a mild detergent.

Transport
1. Unplug the appliance from the safety socket.
2. Remove all bottles and storage shelves from the inside of the appliance.
3. Screw in the adjustable feet

4. Tape the door in place using adhesive tape.
5. Ensure that the appliance is transported in an upright position to avoid any
damage to the cooling system.
Troubleshooting
Faults may occur during operation. Please use the following table to check whether
you can resolve the problem yourself. All other repairs are prohibited and will
invalidate the warranty cover. In the event of a fault, contact our Service Centre or
another suitable professional repair workshop.

If you do not intend to use the appliance for a long period of time, it is necessary to
perform the following tasks:
1. Unplug the appliance from the safety socket.
2. Empty the appliance.
3. Wipe out the cooling area and allow it to dry.
4. Carefully wash all appliance fi ttings (storage shelves for the bottles).
5. Leave the door open to avoid unpleasant odours and mould formation.

Appliance
Old devices should not be disposed of with the normal household rubbish.
In accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU, the appliance must be properly
disposed of at the end of its service life.
This involves separating the materials in the appliance for the purpose of
recycling and minimising the environmental impact.
Take old appliances to a collection point for electrical scrap or a recycling centre.
Contact your local waste disposal company or your local authority for more
information on this subject.
Before disposal cut off the cable.
Remove the door before disposing of the appliance and leave the storage
shelves for the bottles in the appliance.
