Failure to avoid the following potentially hazardous
situations could result in death or serious injury
The indicators represented on the D2 Pilot Watch are
based on watch based GPS position, altitude, heading,
and temperature sensors and may differ from the
instruments in the aircraft
The D2 Pilot Watch is intended only as an aid
for navigation Do not attempt to use this unit for
any purpose requiring precise measurement of
temperature, direction, distance, location, or altitude
The GPS altitude calculated by D2 Pilot Watch GPS
receiver, if used, is geometric height above Mean Sea
Level and could vary signicantly from the altitude
displayed by pressure altimeters
Do not use basemap (land and water data) information
for primary navigation Basemap data is intended only
to supplement other approved navigation data sources
and should be considered as an aid to enhance
situational awareness
The United States government operates the Global
Positioning System and is solely responsible for
its accuracy and maintenance The GPS system is
subject to changes which could affect the accuracy
and performance of all GPS equipment Portions of the
Garmin D2 Pilot Watch utilize GPS for navigation, and
should not be solely relied upon for navigation
To reduce the risk of unsafe operation, carefully
review and understand all aspects of the D2 Pilot
Watch User’s Manual documentation Thoroughly
practice basic operation prior to actual use During
ight operations, carefully compare indications from
the D2 Pilot Watch to all available navigation sources,
including the information from other NAVAIDs, visual
sightings, charts, etc For safety purposes, always
resolve any discrepancies before continuing navigation
The barometric altimeter in the D2 Pilot Watch will not
properly function in a pressurized aircraft cabin Do not
use the altimeter when piloting a pressurized aircraft
The barometric altimeter function in the D2 Pilot Watch
is dependent on a properly entered local barometric
3
pressure setting Even with this setting, the barometric
altitude measured
The density altitude function in the D2 Pilot Watch is
dependent on an accurate temperature measurement
The temperature measured from within the watch
may differ signicantly from the actual outside air
temperature and thus lead to incorrect density altitude
calculations
