The following instructions will help you
to connect your AMX switching system.

Initial setup
Place the AMX switch and AMX user stations
in the desired locations. Rack mounting
brackets are included with the AMX switch for
easy installation.
Connecting power
Ensure that all power to the AMX switching
system is powered off. Attach the supplied
power cord to each AMX switch and each AMX
user station. Attach the other end of each cord
to an AC power source.
Connecting to the LAN
Attach a UTP cable to the Network port on the
AMX switch. Attach the other end of the UTP
cable to the LAN.
Connecting the user station to the
AMX switch
Attach a UTP cable to one of the two RJ-45
ports on the user station. Attach the other end
of the UTP cable to a numbered RJ-45 user
port on the left side of the AMX switch. Repeat
for each user station in the switching system.
Connecting a server to the AMX switch
Choose an appropriate IQ module and insert
the connectors into the corresponding ports
on the server. Attach a UTP cable to the RJ-45
port on the IQ module. Attach the other end of the
UTP cable to an RJ-45 server port on the right side
of the AMX switch. Repeat for each server in the
switching system.

NOTE: Some IQ modules provide audio and
serial connectors, which may be left unattached
from the server if this functionality is not required.

Connecting the user station to a local
server or a second AMX switch (optional)
To connect a local server, choose an
appropriate IQ module and insert the
connectors into the corresponding ports on the
server. Attach a UTP cable to the RJ-45 port
on the IQ module. Attach the other end of the
UTP cable to an available RJ-45 port on the
user station. Alternatively, you may connect the
user station to a second AMX switch as shown
in step 3. Refer to the AMX Installer/User Guide
for more information.
Connecting the keyboard, monitor
and mouse
Attach the monitor cable to the appropriately
labeled port on the user station. Attach a
keyboard and mouse to the appropriately
labeled PS/2 or USB ports on the user station.
Connecting audio and serial
peripheral devices (optional)
Attach the stereo speakers and microphone
cables to the appropriately labeled ports on
a supporting user station, if desired. Similarly,
attach a serial peripheral device to the serial
port on a supporting user station, if desired.
NOTE: To use the stereo speakers, microphone
or serial device, the AMX switching system must
include a user station and IQ module that support
audio and serial emulation.
