This manual contains the instructions of use and important safety information. Before using this
product, always read this manual thoroughly.
1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING - Read all safety warnings and instructions. Ignoring the warnings and instructions may result in
an electric shock, a fire and/or severe injury.
Keep all warnings and instructions for later reference.
1.1 SAFETY IN THE WORK ZONE
a) Maintain the work zone clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas are prone to accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, for example in the presence of flammable
liquids, gas or dust. Power tools generate sparks likely to ignite dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and persons away when using the tool. Any
distractions can cause you to lose control of the tool.
1.2 SAFETY
a) When using this tool, stay vigilant, focused and use common sense. Do not use the tool when you
are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention when using a tool may cause severe injuries.
b) Wear safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Safety equipment such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets or hearing protection appropriate to the
conditions shall reduce injuries.
c) Do not rush. Keep an appropriate position and balance at all times.
This allows better tool control in unexpected situations.
d) Clothe appropriately. Do not wear ample clothing or jewellery.
Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Ample clothing, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
1.3 USING TOOLS RUNNING ON BATTERIES AND PRECAUTIONS OF USE
a) Recharge the unit only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger not adapted to the
type of battery unit can create a risk of fire when used with another type of battery unit.
b) When a battery unit is not used, keep it away from any other metallic object, for example paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or any other small size objects which may establish a connection from
one terminal to the other. Shorting the terminals of a battery can cause burns or a fire.
c) In bad conditions, fluid can be ejected from the battery; avoid any contact. In case of accidental
contact, clean with water. In case of contact of the fluid with the eyes, also seek medical help. The fluid
ejected from the batteries may cause irritations or burns.
1.4 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
a) This tool must be maintained by a skilled repairman using only spare parts which are
identical. This will ensure the tool remains safe.
Warning – when this symbol is displayed, safety measures are indicated to prevent any
danger and damage.
Information – when this symbol is displayed, recommendations of use are given for effective
handling of the tool

different models: CL3.CTB50-MK and CL3.CTB120-MK.
It includes
- 1 head
- 1 removal tool
- 2 spare blades
The blade should be changed every 30k cycles and the head every 100k cycles.
3.5 BELT AND HOLSTER
To allow the user effortless transporting of the clamp and keeping it ready for use, a belt with a holster is available.
‘Right holster’ reference: CL3.CTB-HR
‘Left holster’ reference: CL3.CTB-HL
‘Belt’ reference: CL3.CTB-B
4. FIRST USE
Before fi rst use, charge the battery using the charger supplied. Any other charger is rigorously forbidden both in
functional and safety terms.
Once the battery charged, insert it into the appropriate tool housing in the right insertion direction. The pliers are
ready for use.
5. INSERTING/REMOVING THE BATTERY
The images below describe the steps required to insert the battery in the unit.
1. Swivel the battery locking clip with your thumb to clear the entrance of the battery compartment.
NU-CL3.CTB50 - CL3.CTB120_0216.indd 14 2/9/2016 4:25:19 PM
15
2. Engage the battery in the right insertion direction.
3. Slide the battery until it is fully inserted.
4. Release the clip
Any attempt to remove the battery without pressing the clip causes premature wear of the tab and its
early damage.
Removing the battery is performed by pulling the battery tab once the locking clip released.
6. TIGHTENING A CLAMP
6.1 CHOOSING THE PLIERS
The tool range has two versions:
- The CL3.CTB50 pliers, for fl anges width 2.4 to 4.8mm / 0.094” to 0.189”
- The CL3.CTB120 pliers, for fl anges width 4.8 to 7.6mm / 0.189” to 0.299”.
6.2 FLANGE TENSION ADJUSTMENT
Set the head to the tightening force required using the adjustment thumbscrew.
The table below provides the torque values for information.
Table of correspondence of the positions per pliers:
These torque ranges are indicative. To know precisely the values of torque of each tool, a checking report can be
ordered.
After 100,000 clamping cycles, we then advise to change the head to maintain clamping strength and
cutting quality.
When the clamp’s tightening load is not known, this must be validated by iteration, by means of tests starting with
the weakest position and by increasing gradually.

Proper clamping quality is defi ned when the fl ange fi tted can rotate on itself but cannot translate on the support.
6.3 CLAMPING
Slide the pre-tightened fl ange onto the bundle or any other work support in the tool head while positioning the
rough face of the fl ange on the teeth side preferably. This precaution is not always useful according to the fl anges,
but is recommended for better clamping control.
Slide the tool head by approaching with a 45° angle to optimize insertion of the fl ange.
2. Press the trigger while maintaining the pliers pressed against the fl ange head and proper
alignment until the fl ange is cut.
According to pretightening performed, you may have to release the trigger to reach the tightening torque
set and automatic cutting.
3. After cutting, the fl ange waste is maintained as long as the trigger remains pressed.
4. Release the trigger to release the fl ange waste and return the head to the rest position.
The fl ange waste can be recovered without releasing the trigger.
5. Repeat the operation to perform a new clamp tightening.
Always keep your hands or persons away from the head when pressing the trigger to avoid any danger
when pulling and cutting clamps.
Beware the risk of pinching, always keep your hand away from the head when pressing the
trigger.
6.4 LOCKING THE TIGHTENING TORQUE SETTING
If required by the user, always lock the tightening torque setting to avoid using the clamp in a non desired position.
A lock screw is available on the tool head to perform this function. Use a 1.5 mm BTR key by FACOM reference
83SH.1.5 supplied in the box.

To access it, fi rst remove the tool’s protection ring, as shown in the photo above.
To remove the bush:
1. Press the locking pin using a screwdriver while pulling the ring with your thumb.
Use preferably a Torx screwdriver or any other round bit.
2. Repeat the same operation on the locking pin on the other side. The ring must be completely released
and can be removed.
7. ENERGY LEVEL AND DISPLAY
7.1 CHARGE MANAGEMENT
To save on the energy consumed on the battery, when left idle for more than 5 minutes, the tool switches to the
standby mode. The indication lamp switches off.
The tool is reactivated when the trigger is pressed again.
If left unused for a long period, we recommend to remove the battery to avoid damaging it.
When the tool is used, the indicator on the top of the tool indicates the battery’s charge level.
The indicator status table is shown below:
7.2 CHANGING THE BATTERY
Refer to paragraph 4: Battery insertion/removal
1. Release the battery clip.
2. Remove the battery using the tab.
3. Insert a charged battery in the compartment instead of the discharged one.
4. The tab must be oriented towards the top of the clamp.
5. Release the clip.
8. TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE
8.1 TYPES OF FAULT
The indicator lamp also indicates the tool’s potential malfunctions and safety modes.
Color Mode Description
Steady green Operational The clamp is in the operating state with a suffi cient battery level.
Steady orange Warning The battery has dropped to 30% capacity. Its charging or its
replacement will be required very soon.
Steady red Discharged The battery is in the critical zone (<10%) and requires to be charged
immediately. The clamp is no longer able to clamp the fl anges.
A new battery must be installed.
