Thank you for purchasing this orbitor
TM
Video Telescope System. We hope you will have many
hours of enjoyment exploring the universe. Before you start, however, we ask that you read the
following. Your Video Telescope System is made up of three main components:
1) Astronomical Reflector Telescope with 4 1/2” (114mm) objective lensThis is a full-
featured astronomical telescope that can be used by itself. It comes complete with a full range of
eyepieces and standard accessories. Complete instructions are enclosed with the unit.
2) TVE50 Black and White Video Eyepiece The TVE50 is a miniature Black and White
video camera that you simply insert into the eyepiece socket of the telescope, in place of the
standard eyepieces. The TVE50 uses a 9 volt battery. You must unscrew the end cap (battery
compartment) of the unit and insert battery before use. One end of the supplied signal cord plugs
into the yellow VIDEO OUT socket on the TVE50 eyepiece and the other end of the cord
attaches to the VIDEO IN socket on the back of the orbitor
TM
Television/Monitor. This end can
also be attached to the yellow video input socket of any camera, camcorder or TV/Monitor. The
single knob combines the camera’s ON/OFF function with a contrast control. Turn until you see
the best image. The TVE50 can produce a sharp black and white image from any reasonably
bright source. It performs well outdoors in the daylight and at night for observing the Moon,
Jupiter, Saturn, and bright objects such as the Orion Nebula.
Because of the high magnification created by the combination of the TVE50 and your telescope
you may want to first practice aiming and focusing the combination while looking at the
Television/Monitor in daylight. Be sure to sight in objects that are at least 1/4 mile or 1/2 km
away. While watching the image on the television screen adjust the eyepiece focusing knob and
the TVE50 contrast control knob until you see the best picture. Complete instructions are
enclosed with the unit.
3) orbitor
TM
5” Combination UHF/VHF Black & White Television/Monitor with AM/FM
Radio Tuner Your new television can be used by itself as a portable radio/TV, or it can be
used as the monitor component with the Video Telescope System. It is powered by 10 ‘C’ cells,
110VAC, or a 12V Automobile lighter plug. To use as a telescope monitor first turn on the power
and choose the ‘TV’ function. With the connector cord from the TVE50 plugged into the VIDEO
IN jack on the back of the television, adjust the brightness & contrast controls for the best image.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Because this video telescope is a powerful observing system capable of
high magnifications you will notice that any shaking, vibration or motion of the telescope is
greatly increased in the eyepiece view and on the TV/Monitor. Move the telescope slowly and
smoothly for the best results and allow the telescope to come to rest before recording images.
