CPU Firmware V1.3 update
Priority……………………………………………
C
A -Mustmodification, Barco will provide the necessary components to perform this
modification at no charge.
B - Improves the reliability of the product.
C - Improves the general working conditions of the product.
D - For information only.
1. Icon color adaptation in the "video selector" menu.
The icons of possible video inputs with
- no video signal, are colorless
- video sync detected but not selected, are red colored
- the selected (=active) video input is green
2. Timer for warning lamp error
In the former soft versions, the lamp error warning is displayed as long
the user does not press the "Back" button. From V1.3 onwards the
warning disappears now after 2 minutes. But, after these two minutes
an icon in the top right corner of the screen (less disturbing) replaces it.
The icon, however, can be switched off manually via the menu, but,
you need the password (default "0000").
Most important changes in the V1.3 firmware of the IQ-series.
T030410_397 - 2 -
Lamps > More > Clear Lamp Error.
Note :
The lamp error warning can be cleared immediately with he "Back"
button, but the icon will come up then and remain visible, as long you
do not clear it via the menu.
3. "PIP-adjust" via remote control (RCU) and menu on the screen.
Pressing the "PIP Adjust" button on the remote control sequentially, the
active windows are focussed (highlighted) sequentially. Each time, the
corresponding "source box" is shown at the bottom right corner of this
window.
Selecting the "PIP Adjust" item in the menu also focuses all active
windows sequentially, but the source box is not shown anymore.
4. Range for keystone adjustment
The range for the keystone adjustment is increased from (-255, 255) to
(-455, 455).
5. Blanking
New functionality.
Under "Display Setup" a new item Blanking' has been added.
Display setup > More > Blanking.
The Top, Bottom, Left and Right borders of the image can be blanked
in 1024 steps (almost full picture).
The Blanking can be Enabled or Disabled in the menu and can be reset
to zero with the Reset button.
This functionality is also available through serial commands.
Note: the same blanking is applied on all files.
6. 5
th
level uniformity.
An extra fifth level of uniformity on white is added now to improve the
overall uniformity. It is obvious that this alignment is only possible in the
production phase and cannot be done in the field just like the full
uniformity adjustment.
7. Availability to make a backup of the X-Cube settings and to load new
X-Cube settings into the projector
With the ssa.exe (latest soft version is V2.10) program it was already
possible to make a back up of ALL the projector settings.
This program can be useful when replacing a PMP (with integrated
CPU) by a brand new board. You first can make a back up of the
settings (ALL settings) of the projector before you return the board. You
T030410_397 - 3 -
can then load back (=overwrite the default settings) these settings in
the new board.
If however you just replace the x-cube, you will need to load into the
projector the settings of the new x-cube only.
We will make available in the near future, via the Partner Zone, the
settings of the x-cubes (note that each x-cube bears a specific
number).
From soft V1.3 onwards it will now be possible to upload only the X-
Cube settings, next to ALL settings.
Soft V1.3 has new serial commands to take a backup of the X-Cube
settings only (for our production) and to load these settings into the
projector in the field. This will be necessary in the field whenever an X-
Cube replacement is done.
8. Cool down cycle
In the first version of the Power Box, the "fan lightpipe" was driven
on/off in step with the operational SMPS via the SMP_OFF line (see
schematics).
In the Universal Power Box, the light pipe fan is microprocessor
controlled. After the cool down cycle (1 minute on IQ 200/IQ300 and 2
minutes on IQ 400), the fan for the light pipe remained on. This is not
necessary and this fan is switched off now. It even causes the projector
to make more noise in standby.
Please note that this is only applicable for units that are provided with a
universal power box.
9. New startup sequence
When the projector starts up in dual lamp mode, both lamps where
ignited the same time. It is possible that one lamp disturbs the other
one, causing a possible "lamp failure" indication. This lamp failure is
not correct, because both lamps are maybe in good condition
The new startup sequence in dual mode now ignites lamp 1 and waits
2 seconds before igniting lamp 2.
This results in a better starting up of the projector in dual lamp mode.
10. Switching to composite video when no signal is present
When the projector was switched from e.g. RGBHV (slot 1, 5 BNCs) to
Composite Video (slot 3) and no composite video signal was present,
the background was displayed. This is OK.
If then the video signal was applied, the video image was not shown.
This has been solved now. When an input is selected and there is no
signal, the image will appear as soon the source is connected.

11. Minimum voltage for 4 axial fans below LCD panels increased to 15.3V
for IQ 200 and IQ 300
On some projectors, the "airflow error" popped up too quickly, even
when the dust filters where clean. With a little higher speed (=higher
fan voltage), the sensor is better cooled.
Note: there has also been applied a hardware change in the
electronics of the sensor circuit to prevent this "airflow error" problem.
R18 on the airflow board R763593 has been removed.
12. New menu item Version table
You can access the Service menu by entering the "6422" code the
moment Installation is highlighted. Under the "service" menu we have
added a new item "Version Table".
Installation > 6 4 2 2 + Enter > Service > Version Table
Here you will find an overview of the versions of the individual software
packages. (default program, standard program, FPGA
configurations)
13. New menu item Board identification
In the same "Service" menu a new item Board Identification' is added
Installation > 6 4 2 2 + Enter > Service > Board Identification
Here you will find an overview of the versions of the electronic boards
inside the projector (inputs, PMP, LCD driver, power box).
Note : This information is particularly interesting to know the type of
Power Box (Universal or not?) and the type of Input Boards.
14. Modified "Auto Image"
T030410_397 - 5 -
Under Image Files a new item is added: "Auto Image".
Image files > Auto Image > Limited Scan
Full Scan
A further selection Limited Scan / Full Scan is then possible.
New algorithms for the Auto Image function are implemented and a
very accurate adjustment of the various image parameters is now
possible, even for non-standard sources.
The "Limited scan performs an auto image adjustment based on a
limited (in time) calculation
For non-standard sources the above system could fail or result in a not
100% correct image. Here the Full Scan (about two minutes) can be a
solution.
Notes:
1. When a new file is created automatically, the 'limited scan' is
applied. If the result is not 100% you then can go for a Full Scan via the
menu
2. In the "Auto Image setup" under the Display setup > More menu you
can determine the parameters to be adjusted when creating a new file.
This setting does not influence the' requested scan' as explained above
in the "image files " menu.
15. New and improved de-interlacer
A further improvement of the de-interlacing is done; a color system
dedicated de-interlacing is now implemented.
16. File selection modification
New standard files.
Total pixel scan is only executed if the line duration and total lines do
not match the standard file.
17. Detection of "no signal".
From version V1.3 onwards, the logo or background is shown correctly
if no sync is present for video and for data signals. Sometimes a full
grey or white picture was shown in the older firmware versions.
18. Modified standard files
Wrong values of line duration for the mentioned files caused the new
Auto Image functionality to fail.
Below is a table with the modified files. These values give better results
for the Auto Image feature.
