Equipped with a pendulum dynamic absorber as the low vibration
mechanism (Model DH 50MRY only)
The Model DH 50MRY is equipped with the Hitachi's original pendulum dynamic absorber that absorbs
vibration from the main body by means of resonance of a leaf spring and a weight. As a result, the vibration
level of the Model DH 50MRY is remarkably lower than the current Model DH 50MB.
Fastest drilling speed and greatest chiseling performance in the class*
We conducted digital engineering to determine the optimal impact specifications. As a result, the Models
DH 50MRY and DH 50MR offer the fastest drilling speed and greatest chiseling performance in the class.

Chiseling performance varies considerably depending on the work conditions. Use the factory
test results for comparison purposes only.
Refer to the Technical Data and Service Manual of the current Model DH 50MB for the following.
Vibration-absorbing handle
The two vibration-isolating rubbers provided between the
handle and the crank case, and also between the handle and
the housing efficiently absorb the vibration transmitted from the
tool main body to minimize transmission of vibration to the
operator’s arms.
Dial type, constant speed with variable speed control
The Model DH 50MRY/DH 50MR is equipped with a built-in
electronic control circuit that can adjust the number of hammering
steplessly between 1,050 and 2,150 min
-1
with the dial. Even though
the load varies, the Model DH 50MRY/DH 50MR provides better
operability and stable and efficient drilling performance because the
constant speed control minimizes changes in number of rotation and
hammering.

Easy-to-operate and double-molded switch handle and side handle
The base material of the switch handle and the side handle is plastic resin. The plastic resin base is
integrally molded with soft resin to realize a double layer structure. Thus the grip of the switch handle and
the side handle is soft for easier operation.
Change lever for switching between “Rotation + Hammering,”
“Neutral” and “Hammering only”
The Models DH 50MRY/DH 50MR provides three
functions, “rotation + hammering” function (for drilling),
“neutral” function (for positioning the tool tip) and
“hammering only” function (for chiseling and chipping).
These function modes can be easily switched by using the
change lever. The tool angle can be easily changed in 12
steps by turning the grip with the change lever positioned
at “Neutral.”
Needle-pin type slip clutch
The Model DH 50MRY/DH 50MR is equipped with a needle-pin type slip clutch for higher slip torque
accuracy and enhanced safety (same as the Model DH 50MB).

C. Grease replacement procedures
The hammering section and the gear change section use different types of grease respectively. It is not
necessary to replenish the grease unless the tool is disassembled for repair or there is a grease leakage
due to a damaged seal.
A special grease is used for the hammering section. After disassembly of the hammering section (inside the
cylinder case and the crank case), carefully wipe the old grease off the parts and fill the cylinder case and
the crank case (connecting rod side) with 70 g of grease. Take care not to overfill the grease as an
excessive amount of grease can cause hammering failure.
The gear change section (inside the gear cover) uses Hitachi Motor Grease No. 29. The proper amount of
grease is 30 g. Never use the special grease for the hammering section in the gear change section.
Otherwise, the special grease will leak into the motor section and cause subsequent troubles. Periodically
change the grease in the slip clutch. Fill the slip clutch with Hitachi Motor Grease No. 29 to the full.
Refer to the Technical Data and Service Manual for the following model.

Mount the Clutch Spring [30], Lock Spring [27], Lock Sleeve [28] and Clutch [33] to the Cylinder [26].
Mesh the claw of the Lock Sleeve [28] with the claw of the Clutch [33] (thus the retainer sleeve ass'y is
made as shown in Fig. 8). Mount O-ring (D) [39], Thrust Washer (B) [40] and Bevel Gear [41] to the
Cylinder Case [37]. Then insert the retainer sleeve ass'y into the Cylinder Case [37] aligning the spline of
the Lock Sleeve [28] with the spline groove at the inner circumference of the Cylinder Case [37] (Fig. 8).
(d) Vibration reduction mechanism
Apply Hitachi Motor Grease No. 29 to the Washer [89] and adhere it to the end face of the hole portion of
the Weight [88]. Insert the Weight [88] into the Base [91] and insert the Weight Pin [92]. At this time,
apply Hitachi Motor Grease No. 29 to the Weight Pin [92]. Sandwich the Base [91] between the Leaf
Spring [93] and the Spring Holder [95] engaging the convex portion of the Base [91] with the concave
portion of the Spring Holder [95], then secure it with the Seal Lock Hex. Socket Hd. Bolt M5 x 16 [96]. At
this time, apply Hitachi Motor Grease No. 29 to the tip of the Leaf Spring [93] where the Weight [88]
contacts. Insert the two Weight Bumpers [94] into the back of the Base [91] so that the rounded portion
of the Weight Bumper [94] contacts the Weight [88]. Wind two Cylinder O-rings (B) [87] around the
Weight [88] without twisting (Fig. 9).
