1 Introduction
G-700 is a curved screen edge blending processor with the ability to provide multiple processing channels
to control from 1 to 4 projectors based on user’s requirements. G-701 can provide single processing channel for
one projector, G-702 for 2 projectors, G-703 for 3 projectors and G-704 for 4 projectors. It was designed for
sophisticated edge blending as well as image warping, stacking, projection mapping, irregular video wall and
passive 3D…etc. One G-704 can execute 4 projector edge blending without any additional equipment or splitter.
Two G-704 can control up to 8 projectors.
Each processing channel has 3 input ports (1x HDMI, 1x DP, 1x DVI-I) to support 5 input formats (HDMI,
DP, VGA, DVI-D, YPbPr) and one HDMI output port. One 4K HDMI loop out port is for raw signal daisy chain
connection. Input ports support up to 3840x1080 @60Hz and 4k UHD @30Hz resolution with 4:4:4 full color
sampling. It is integrated with 10-bit high end processor, motion adaptive de-interlace and 3:2/2:2 pull-down.
PIP (picture in picture) and POP (side by side) are standard functions in each processing channel. In one
G-704, user can display up to 8 different input contents on the screen. If user requires PIP or POP image across
entire screen, user can use the first channel as PIP/POP processor and connect the output to other processing
channel input port to get PIP/POP image across entire screen. If user uses two channels for PIP/POP
processing, then user can get 3-4 different contents across complete edge blending screen.
Advanced warp technology is embedded in G-700. User can use front panel keypad, IR controller or PC
to perform edge blending and sophisticated geometry alignment up to 17x17 grids through user friendly
operation interface. Geometry adjustment range is big enough for most of the applications. By remote controller,
user can adjust corner position up to H=+_600 pixels and V=+_400 pixels in full HD output resolution. If PC tool
is used, geometry alignment range will be double. User can also apply serial connection among processing
channels to increase geometry adjustment range for some special applications.
It can perform color and white balance adjustment in individual projector. Edge blending region gamma
correction and non-edge blending area black level uplift are also standard function in G-700.
HDMI loop out supports daisy chain connection up to 3840x1080 @60Hz or 4k/2k @30Hz and allows
large display with multiple G-700 cascaded without video distributor. Video wall function in G-700 is to crop and
allocate source image for each projector. Complete curved edge blending can be achieved without PC, video
distributor and splitter.
G-700 is an ideal solution for simulation. It can connect with inputs from multiple PC and combine them
into one seamless image. It also provides flexible displays in edge blending system. For a 3x projector edge
blending system, user can configure as 1+1+1 independent display, 1+2 (two edge blends) and all-in-one (three
edge blends). User can also execute edge blending with projector at portrait position to increase image height. It
is a good fit with laser projector without the limitation in installation angle.
In order to optimize video performance, G-700 is designed to support non-VESA standard input timing
and allow user to create any EDID timing in the range between 1024x768 and 3840x2160.
With G-700, users can replace high end projector with low cost projector without lens shift, warp and edge
blending. It provides easy configuration, low entry barrier, cost effective, reliable and flexible solution.

5 Helpful Tips for system installation and setup
a. Select digital input to get better image and avoid image position shift.
b. If 4k signal connection distance is more than 10m, please select a certified HDMI cable to avoid
unstable signal connection. Usually [High Speed HDMI + Ethernet] cable will be better.
c. The quality for signal adapter or converter, such as HDMI to DVI adapter and DisplayPort to HDMI
converter, may downgrade the signal quality and cause issue. Please select qualified ones.
d. If user can see blue background image with [Power Saving Mode] message, it means the signal
connection between projector and GeoBox is OK but no input signal detected by GeoBox. Please
check signal source or replace a different input source to test.
e. If user can’t see [Power Saving Mode] message or splash screen, please check the connection
between GeoBox and projector. User can connect to a monitor to check the output from GeoBox.
[Loop out] port is for raw signal daisy chain connection and is not a output to projector.
f. The output resolution setting shall be the same as projector native resolution to get the best video
quality. After geometry alignment, this output resolution can’t be changed. Otherwise, geometry
position will be shifted and required further adjustment.
g. In the application with short throw ratio projector on curved screen, it is possible that the image
location is beyond the maximum adjustment range in manual adjustment. In this case, Gwarp PC
tool is required to double the adjustment range.
h. During installation setup process, please apply FHD signal to the system for easy setup. After
finish the setup, user can select optimized EDID from OSD menu to get optimized video quality.
i. The optimized EDID resolution should be the final resolution after edge blending. For instance, if
user uses three XGA projectors for edge blending with 250 overlapped pixels, then the best signal
for this setup will be 1024*3-250*2=2572. It means 2572*768 will be the best signal resolution for
this setup. User can customize EDID with this resolution in GeoBox. Some PC may not be able to
output the same custom resolution. In this case, user needs to set PC output resolution as close
this timing as possible. GeoBox can support none-VESA standard input timings.
j. In addition to the resolution settings, user needs to provide content with the same aspect ratio as
screen to ensure no distortion on the screen.
k. To reset all projectors before edge blending to get the same settings in all projectors.
l. To turn off auto keystone function to avoid image shift.
m. In order to avoid interference among multiple GeoBox during the installation, the best way is to
install IR receiver separately near each projector. Each GeoBox is equipped with up to 4 channels.
User can select control channel through keypad in front control panel or remote controller. If
multiple GeoBox are used, user can set Box ID for each GeoBox through [Box ID] Menu. Press
number keys in Remote Controller for the control of multiple GeoBox:
850: simultaneous control for all GeoBox
G-700
9
851: control GeoBox ID No. 1
853: control GeoBox ID No. 3
n. OSD Lock / Unlock: When continuously press [Menu] key on Front Panel or IR Remote Controller
for 5 seconds, the OSD function will be locked to prevent all channels from setting change by
negligence. To press [MENU] key for 5 seconds again, it will unlock OSD. If you lock from remote
controller, you can unlock from Menu key on front panel and vice versa.
o. [Image Setup] menu will not be activated if the input source is not from VGA.
p. Please reset GeoBox before any new application to avoid unexpected settings in the system.
OSD Reset function will only apply to one channel only. If user wants to reset all channels at the
same time, please insert small pin into RESET hole at the back panel for 5 seconds to reset them.
q. To set [Menu Time Out] to “0”, the OSD will appear till the OSD Menu has been turned off
manually or system input timing change.
r. User can turn off output signal to projector through [Standby Time out] setting. Once no input
signal is detected, GeoBox will turn off output signal automatically after preset time.
s. Default Internal Grid Pattern represents 32x32 pixels no matter which input resolution is selected.
t. Only HDMI input port can provide HDMI raw signal loop out for daisy chain connection. This loop
out signal has no any processing.
u. When [Gwarp] PC tool is used, user needs to save the setting into GeoBox through the OSD
menu: [Anyplace] [Gwarp Pro] select [UserMap 1-10] to save the settings. Then PC can be
removed. The saved settings include geometry and color uniformity information.
v. When Power Off/ON GeoBox, it will maintain the final settings.
w. User needs to save the final setting into [Profile] under [Options] menu for long tern stored inside
the system. Even the system is reset, the [Profile] settings will be kept without change.
x. Continuously press PATTERN button, internal test pattern will show different colors for easy
installation: White—Red—Green—Blue—Blank. When in “Blank”, user can see OSD and the
image from signal source. In this case, PC test pattern can be applied.
y. Please use INFO hot key on front panel or remote controller to check the input and output timing.
The indicators on the front panel will show the input/output connection status.
z. When OSD is activated and user switches to another processing channel, the OSD will stay active.
Once user switches back to this channel again, user can operate the same OSD menu again. This
is convenient for geometry alignment. User can pop-up the same geometry menu (such as 9x5) in
both processing channels and switch between two channels for quick geometry alignment.
aa. User can check the LED indicator on the front panel to know the status of the input signal and
output connection. If all orange and green LED are lighted up, it means G-700 has detected the
input signal source and output connections. The system connection should be correct.

a. No PC is required.
b. To feed signal from any signal source to G-700 HDMI input port and connect to the 2
nd
G-700 through
loop out port. No HDMI splitter is required. The latency among two G-700 will be only few lines and
negligible. The number of G-700 for daisy chain can be more than 10 units and it will depend on HDMI
cable quality. Please test before installation.
c. The maximum input resolution can be up to 2560x1600/3840x1200 @60Hz or 3840x2160 @30Hz to
get the best result in multiple projector edge blending.
d. User needs to do geometry adjustment and warping function to align the images onto curved screen
and let the images between two projectors have the same grid size and with necessary overlap pixels.
e. After geometry and warp adjustment, user can apply Video Wall function in G-700 to split the image,
crop correct area and assign to each projector.
f. The last step is to do edge blending to combine the images into one seamless screen.
g. If the application is in dark environment, to do [Offset] compensation is required to eliminate black level
color difference between edge blending area and none edge blending area.

6.7 High resolution Edge Blending with PC multi-windows display card
P4
P5
G-700
14
a. Usually, each full HD signal can feed up to 3- 4x projectors for 10m screen and still keep acceptable
video quality (it will also depend on the watching distance).
b. Many video cards can easily provide upto 4x 3840x1080 outputs.
c. Each PC output is fed into one G-700, then to 4x projectors. 4 outputs will be fed to 16 projectors.
d. If the overlap pixels is 250 in 8 prlojector edge blending system, it can provide a video wall with
13,610x1080 output resolutions.
e. If the watching distance is 5m, the video pixel pitch can be about 5mm. In this case, the total screen
size can be up to 13610x5mm=68m and still keep acceptable video quality.
f. The display card should be set at extend mode and have the function to set overlapped pixels between
two output ports. In the case of two 4k output display card, PC should be able to set overlapped pixels
between output P4/P5,. The overlapped pixels should be up to about 15%-25% of the output resolution.
The rest overlapped areas can be set by GeoBox.
g. If the display card doesn’t have above mentioned overlap setting function, then user needs to create a
content with some overlapped pixels up to about 15%-25% among outputs.
h. GeoBox can do geometry alignment, split the image, assign image for each projector and capture the
right size of the image for edge blending.
i. The advantage for this kind of application is high output resolution. However, it still has some
limitations.
The major input source shall come from multiple PC, PC with multiple windows disply card or
media player with cascade function (such as Bright Sign).
The PC shall have enough processing power to handle multiple output windows. More video
output ports from display card will occupy more PC resource.
Different playing contents may also require different CPU resource. User needs to test before
implement this kind of display system.
The output aspect ratio will be changed depending on the display system. User needs to take care
of the aspect ratio in the source content in advance.
j. Edge blending will increase the total resolution. Usually, the video quality will be good enough for most
of the applications if output resolution in each projector can reach XGA resolution.
k. User can connect with other signal sources like Blue Ray or Media Player to other input ports in G-700.
By selecting different input ports and applying different GeoBox settings, it will provide different display
G-700
15
modes. For example, for 3 projector edge blending, user can set all three edge blending, two projector
edge blending and one has discrete display or each projector has independent content.
l. GeoBox can reduce the CPU loading in PC and reserve more CPU resource to handle interactive or
other operation without image lag.
6.8 “L/M” shape video wall with edge blending
Below is example of the application in restaurant with “L” shape video wall:
a. 3x WXGA projectors: two projectors edge blending on the front screen and another projector is located
at side wall.
b. The image is met at the corner. It is not necessary to do edge blending at the corner. User just needs to
do geometry alignment to let the image meet at the corner.
c. User can use Video Wall function to split the image into 3x (using ZOOM function) and use PAN and
OVERLAP function to capture the right size of the image and assign to each projector.
d. Three projectors should have right image captured size to avoid different scaling factor in the projectors.
It can be adjusted through Video Wall Overlap function.
e. To do edge blending on the front two projectors and the image in side wall only needs geometry
alignment and Video Wall setting.
6.9 Irregular curved display
User can use G-700 to do manual adjust and achieve curved display for most of regular curved screen.
More complicated shape can be executed by Gwarp PC tool up to 17x17 grids. User can also execute more
geometry alignment range by serial connection with multiple channels. If necessary, user can select single
channel processor G-106. It has the same geometry alignment function as G-700.
“L” Type video wall with three projectors.
Two projector edge blending + one
projector in the side wall.
GeoBox can combines all image
together with correct scaling factor into
one seamless image.
Three walls plus one floor with 6 projectors.
3 projectors execute edge blending on “M”
walls and 3 projectors executed edge
blending on floor.
GeoBox combined all images with the right
scaling factor into one seamless image.

6.10 Active 3D and passive 3D display
User can use one G-702 as 3D de-multiplexer to decode HDMI 1.4 3D signal or active 3D frame sequential
100/120Hz signals for passive 3D display using two projectors. This kind of passive 3D application can be
applied to bigger screen through edge blending with one G-704 and 4x projectors. User can also increase
brightness in 3D system through image stacking with more projectors.
User can convert Nvidia 3D Vision 1080p 120Hz 3D signal and 1080p/24Hz frame packing 3D from Blue
Ray into 720p/XGA/WXGA 100Hz/120Hz frame sequential 3D signal for DLPLink 3D Ready projectors.
Besides 3D format conversion, GeoBox can also apply geometry alignment for active 3D curved screen
display. If user wants to implement active 3D edge blending, user can’t use color wheel synchronization
system in DLP 3D Ready system and needs to find a method for the synchronization of multiple projectors
because the color wheel in multiple projectors can’t be synchronized. 1080p 24Hz frame packed 3D signal
will be converted into 720P 120Hz output but not 1080p 24Hz frame packed 3D format output.

7 Internal Grid Pattern for Geometry Adjustment
To select processing channel from front panel or remote controller and press [PATTERN] key, it will show
internal grid pattern. If Gwarp2 PC tool is used, the keyboard [P] key can activate grid pattern. By
continuously pressing [PATTERN] key, different color grid patterns will appear cyclically from White Red
Green Blue Blank. If user wants to disable grid pattern, please use Exit key in Remote Control or
Menu key in Front Panel. Each grid pattern is 32 pixels in width and height. User can calculate the overlap
pixel via the number of grid pattern and figure out the pixel number.

This internal pattern can’t co-exist with OSD menu. During geometry adjustment, user needs to select
adjusting item, then click [Enter] to pop-up grid pattern. If user wants to use external grid pattern from PC or
other signal sources or see OSD menu instead of internal grid pattern, user can continuously click pattern
key to show it. A flashing indicator at the adjusting point will appear. User can see real time grid pattern
change during the adjustment. It is recommended to connect through digital interface (HDMI or DVI) to the
projector to avoid position shift after installation.
If user wants to show the adjustment value (pixel #) while doing geometry alignment, user can continuously
press [Pattern] key to show the adjusting value.
Note: The grid size of G-700 is 32x32 pixels and some GeoBox model is 50x50 pixels. If user wants to do
edge blending with G-700 and other model, user needs to apply external grid pattern so that all GeoBox will
show the same grid pattern. Please download [Edge Blending grid pattern] from VNS website. Continuously
press [Pattern] hotkey, user will show the same external pattern in all projectors for easy geometry
alignment. If user uses Gwarp PC tool, user can set grid size to 50x50 to get the same grid size in all
projectors.
8 OSD menu and operations
4 processing channels will share the same OSD Menu keys and remote controller. Please select the
channel # through front panel key pad or CH1-CH4 hot keys on the remote controller to operate OSD
menu in each channel.
8.1 OSD simultaneous control in all channels
a. [All] function: Allows user to control all channels in G-700 simultaneously. When press [All] function key
and functional hot key, the system will execute the same OSD command to all channels.
b. [All] enable keys:
Remote controller: [CH A/B]
Front panel: [All] menu key
c. LED Indicator: When [All] is activated, all channel LEDs on Front panel will show up.
d. [All] function will be functional in the first level of OSD in below OSD menu
Internal grid pattern can be displayed
after press [PATTERN] key. External
pattern can also be applied.
When use Gwarp PC tool for geometry
alignment, user can change grid size.
Please press channel selection key to
switch among different channels.
Press [Exit] to exit from grid pattern.

User needs to store the same settings into the same Profile Index so that end user can select
profile Index in all channels at the same time.
Except for the above, all the other function only functional up to the first level of the OSD.
8.2 [Picture]--Color Adjustment
a. The items under [Picture] menu will apply to both processing channels.
b. This menu is only active under below conditions:
[Picture] menu will be grayed out and not functional when the color setting is in [Preset Mode] under
[Image Properties] menu. User needs to get into [Custom] menu and press [Save] menu to activate
[Picture] menu.
When the input signal is in YUV domain, all the items under menu are free to be accessed.
If the input signal is in RGB domain, only [Brightness] and [Contrast] can be adjusted.
